It’d take limited release stuff to get me to go back to a theatre. I have a very nice TV.

I’d go see Shin Ultraman or Shin Kamen Rider in a theatre, but that’d be fine because it’d be like me and at most 2 other people lol

Wait... I forgot... This is made by the same people that did the Dead Space series way back when...

Nice.

Imagine going to theaters even before the pandemic. Give me that 4K home release, some nice headphones, and the ability to watch a movie at my own leisure.

The only theatre experience I would go back to is for classic movies in an old timey set up. I actually like the clicks and pops of the old film reels.

Also, Canadian tv as a kid made it so I spell it theatre but I don’t spell any of your other “re” words that way.

Welp, tree down because of a heavy rain so I'm trapped in the office until its removed (the other side is blocked because a construction), my switch with only 15% battery, and no electric energy (the tree took some cables down) :(

I was listening to some light Japanese Jazz Fusion (as I and @Raccoon like to do) and damn

Nintendo really did steal Mute City's iconic melody from T-Square's track "Your Christmas" huh

Holy shit. Just goes to show you how good jazz fusion is. Smooth jazz also rocks, so no slander will be allowed.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that lots of people go to theaters during a global pandemic.

I used to love it. Would specifically go to the midnight releases just to make sure I was there with the super excited fans. I loved the energy.
I think dealing with social anxiety, it helps to have a place I can go to have a shared experience with people I don't have to directly engage with. I can sorta blend in and not talk to anyone but still partake in this fun thing with others. I honestly miss it.

But it's a very specific me problem, I'm aware.

Plus when I watch movies at home I end up interrupting the hell out of myself all the time because I just can't help it. I like and need the sort of structure and environment where I'm supposed to shut down distractions and be immersed. I'm sad that theaters were already dieing even before covid due to everyone (filmmakers included) just going to streaming. If I wanted an isolated experience at home I'd play a video game. 😅

Tbh sitting watching a film for three hours and not being able to take a toilet break is not something I can do in my old age anymore

My fiancee works for Cineplex, so she receives free 2-person movie passes all the time. We bring our own water bottles, so it literally just costs us about $8 for a large Popcorn for the entire movie.

That and we picked times that many people wouldn't show up. (Also we're in Canada, so we had an actual mask mandate)

For others though, outside of Covid, I can't fathom how many people can even afford to go with how ridiculous prices can be 0.0

The prices over here in Canada for a movie are insane if you include drinks and food. Even the ticket alone is expensive, food and drinks are just more damage to the wallet. As much as I enjoy the theatre experience, if it wasn't for free 2-person movie passes, I probably wouldn't have bothered at any point.

Oh yeah, another thing.

I like my gaming laptop.

But you know what?

I'm thinking of trying my hand at getting myself a PS5 sometime. Like, sometime soon.

Might take a while to get my opportunity, but I'm pretty vigilant about these things so I'm confident.

It's been a while since I've had a console. Should be fun! :)

This topic had me thinking about the last movie I saw in theaters and this post made me realize it was Shin Godzilla. Guess it's been over 5 years. Damn.

Grandpa’s going live with some more Breath of the Wild in a few minutes.

If you missed the last one, here’s your chance to catch my grandpa raging at the game:

I love going to the theater seeing Dune at Marquees imax knockoff with Atmos was a wonderful experience. I'm sad that I missed Everything Everywhere and the Northman due to life getting busy during their brief theatrical windows. I'll be picking up the 4k Blu Rays when those come out so I can check em out. Planning on seeing The Black Phone when it comes out later this month.

I don't do digital movie rentals/purchases and I don't believe in the movie studio streaming services so I don't subscribe to them. I have Netflix though I also really like Tubi and Pluto.

But I always try to catch something I'm interested in while it's in theaters and if I like it enough go for the disc later to get the best home version.

I got a ps5 and it’s pretty good.

My last third laptop died on me recently so I’m gonna try and get a steam deck to replace that instead. Spider man coming to steam practically sold me on it

And the Steam Decks are pretty powerful, no? I might get one myself one day. For now, I'll focus on getting a PS5 for the time being.

Good luck. I got lucky with a drop with a target store one time last year.

Hopefully I’ll get the steam deck as a replacement laptop to play pc games on. I’m tired of wasting money on laptops that constantly die on me

I get that.

None of the laptops I've ever gotten (though so far I believe I've had only two) have really "died" on me, but I can say that Steam Decks seam reasonable when it comes to playing video games, especially PC games.

Aside from that? I just like a good console, you know?

Optimizing my PC to play a game is a bit of a hassle. It's good to play a game, especially a PC game in this case, on the fly, like you would do with any other console.

Actually curious , what laptops have you used? My latest one, which I paid five hundred bucks for, was an asus vivobook 15

An Acer 5 (if I'm getting the name right), I believe.

I paid, I believe, about the same price, though maybe a few hundred dollars more, if not (like, 2 or 3 hundred more).

It was at a discount. Got it a few years ago.

Edit:

Specifically, it says Nitro 5.

That one was one I did have my eye on if it wasn’t for the price. Though I could see a good discount on it in the future.

My last one was a capable laptop and played games good but the processor suddenly died oh my after not using it for a long while due to the headache issues I was dealing with. Suddenly died out of nowhere.

Oof! I'm sorry that that happened.

Well, hopefully you'll get something even better later. Take care!

What y’all recommendations for games on 3DS? Especially JRPGs?

-got all the SMT games
-Have all the Fire Emblem Games as well.

Will be getting the Gen 2 Pokémon games too. Crystal is one I’ve been meaning to replay since it was my first Pokémon game.

Figured I’ll grab what I can in the next couple weeks or so.

I got my PS5 last November by signing up for Best Buy’s $200 Total Tech program. There’s a lot of perks included, and one of them was exclusive access to PS5 and XSX drops. I got my console easily, and then cancelled my subscription and got a full refund for the $200.

I don’t know if Best Buy is still doing exclusive drops, but it’s worth looking into.

7th Dragon and Etrian Odyssey games are great.

For the subway people, do yall like their melts? I tried it for the first time today, ham and cheese, and it was okay.

I don’t know much about JRPGs on 3DS, my main experience with them were the six and seventh Pokémon gens, and Mario and Luigi, lol. But I remember hearing that Bravely Default was good, and the Dragon Quest games.

As for me, I just got a physical copy of Planet Robobot, and the Luigi’s Mansion port should be arriving any day. The only games I want to get now are Castlevania LoS Mirror of Fate, and Hey Pikmin. I know those don’t have the best reputation but I want to play them anyway!

DQ 7/8 remakes on the 3DS are my favorite way to play two of my favorite JRPGs
Braverly Default is also a great game I prefer it over the sequel on the Switch

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance was my favorite on the system. It’s on a lot of other platforms now so it’s not too hard to track down thankfully. The movement and action in that game are spectacular.

Never played the 3DS version, but Radiant Historia is on there and is very good.

Okay so knowing what little I know about Nier lore, I think I just got to the part of Replicant where the story actually begins. 👀

Edit: nevermind 😅

You want Dragon Quest 7. Was my Game of the year 2016. It's an excellent trun based rpg with a a job system and a really cool story. Would heavily recommend.
