Do you know what's kinda funny? the big stink around sonic frontiers is the lack of momentum and physics but BOTW a game with a lot of momentum and physics puzzles was headed by a bunch of former sonic team members

oops, I posted this in Direct Speculation on accident

My partner caught covid at work and even though we're isolating now I'm starting to feel it. Still negative and could just be the stress, but damn I'm just over two months out from catching it for the first time.

Might buy skyward sword digital as comfort food lol

It’s kinda like a memory game mixed with QTEs, although calling them QTEs is a little unfair. So far I’ve only played through what I assume is a long tutorial where the game teaches you different cheating techniques. Actually pulling them off is tense and satisfying. I wonder if the game will open up later on and let you decide which cheat is the best to use in different situations.

And of course the presentation is fabulous. The art and writing alone are worth the price of admission.
You are given choices about which cheat to pull after a certain point that isn't long into the game.

So the sonic movie was nearly equally successful to Detective Pikachu budget vs box office, was the second highest-grossing video game film adaptation, and yet we got Sonic 2 and DP2 was cancelled? D:

both sonic movies have a budget of $90M detective Pikachu had a budget of $150M, so the sonic movies were a lot more profitable, while DP is considered an underperformance compared to its budget/hype/ and expectations since pokemon is one of the most popular franchises in the world

Was super happy with the SoP, Eternights, Stray and XVI made it for me.

XVI looked initially a bit worrying since there don't seem to be a party, but I like that they're going for something different, and I'm happy to see where it all leads.

Maybe a bit disappointed that the trailer didn't show more story stuff, though. I'm curious to see it.

Zelda and FF for 2023. Happy Irene is happy.

Now I just need to complete the dream with new Persona, new Metroid and Game Builder Garage DLC.

How much did Detective Pikachu cost to make in comparison? I still gotta watch both of those movies.

Seriously, the gameplay of Final Fantasy 16 is making me drool. DMC Final Fantasy is up my alley

@SUSWAVE I JUST CAME UP WITH A QUESTION!!!
Did you DJ it yourself? Or at least compose some music for a hired DJ to play? Basically were there Sustunes of any sort?
no music or music-playing devices since it was just us in crumbling overgrown public space reading very queer poetry to each other while our photographer went ham — but if you wanna know what gay little songs were pertinent I can drop a mini sample playlist!! gimme just a sec

no sustunes were particularly relevant, so none would make that list

I spent a decent amount of time finishing the Ultra Challenges in Mario + Rabbids only to find out there are also Ultimate Challenges that are 10+ turns long…

Oh well, I won’t 100% this game.

Having seen the trailer and the leaked roster for SF6, I am absolutely in. Especially since this is a thing:

■ A Modern Control Type for Everyone

For those who are worried that fighting game inputs are too complicated and just want to unleash your inner fighter, we have a solution in the form of a new control type option. First off, Classic Control Type is what veterans can expect to use for inputs with its six-button layout. New to Street Fighter 6 is the Modern Control Type, which allows for easier inputs where a special move can be performed by combining the “Special Move” button with one directional input. This is perfect for newer players or those who may have found classic command inputs a bit too difficult in the past. With the Modern Control Type, your character will perform some of their flashiest (and best) attacks with just a few button presses. Modern Control Type is optional, but we highly recommend new players give it a try!

As someone who only ever played SF for fun, has admittedly always been a scrub in FGs in general, and whose hand dexterity is slowly getting worse on top of that, I really appreciate this.

Edit: Working on a discussion thread for the game, since we don't have one yet.

Edit2: Done.

I recall people was talking about the old "no towns" discourse of BotW over in Direct Speculation. Now FFXVI has "no party".

We'll see, but the repeat in discourse was a bit funny to me.

Feel like there's not that much talk about RE4.. not on social media, not in media in general.
Are we hitting RE Fatigue?
RE2, RE3, RE4, RE8, 2 spinoffs in 5 years.

And if it's now true and outrage/outbreak/NSW RE is true.. yeah there's a lot of Resident Evil games in the past few years.

Now clearly, it's gonna sell a whole lot.. but feel the franchise doesnt really need yearly releases. IMO ofc.

Direct when?????
and by "Direct" I mean "a night where I get to sleep at a decent hour"

Remake discussion in general is boring because the whole thing is going to be what did they change/cut or not and are they going to get the feel of it right despite new graphics. Apparently it is a reimagining so that will make it more interesting and controversial even if not much of it has been shown yet so there’s not a terrible amount to discuss yet.

Haven't been around in a while, between wrapping up my semester and getting settled back in at home. My excitement for Scarlet/Violet has risen quite a bit! Still got my fingers crossed for voice acting, but after enjoying Legends so much I am very excited to see more of this game.

Hope everyone has been doing well!

RE4 is one of my all-time favourite games so I am cautiously optimistic. What they've shown so far looks really good, the only thing I am worried about is how it will affect the original. Some companies are a bit difficult about this, having remakes replace the original games they're based on.

Really looking forward to Sunbreak this month. Also a potential Direct is dope, but with all the games that are coming out this year I don't need too much anymore: FE3H, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Sunbreak, LIVE A LIVE, Pokémon are enough for me already (though a new mainline Fire Emblem or a new Donkey Kong game are always welcome).

I was reading an article about a genetic study that showed that the Turkish people (living in Turkey) are more genetically related to modern Greeks than they are with peoples in other Turkic speaking countries in central Asia. This suggests that the majority of modern day Turks are descendants of Greek people who bred Ottoman Turks and/or adopted Turkish language, culture, and religion. This makes sense to me since the Greeks had already been living in Anatolia for hundreds of years prior to the Ottoman Turks arrival. I thought this was really amazing demonstration of how people and cultures change over time through interactions with other people and cultures. The migration of the Turkic language from Northern China to Western Asia is also really fascinating.

But then I read about how some Turkish scholars are really upset about this study because they want to believe that all of Turkey is composed of 100% pure blood Ottoman Turks and that even the suggestion that some their ancestors were not Turks is offensive.
Hey, I'm a Turkish person of Greek descent! Ask me anything about this, I know quite a lot.

Current genetic composition of Turkey is believed to be ~40% Persian, 12-15% Kartvelian (Georgian), 20% South slavic, 10% north Slavic, 10% Levantine, 5% Turkic. Greeks, Armenians, Kurds and Jews are known ethnicities but all of them descended from different gene pools. Like, majority of modern Greeks are actually Persian, Spanish (Turkish jews) are Arabs and Tatars are Northern Slavic (Polish, Lithuanian etc). My Greek grandpa found out from Patriarchal Archives that we were descended from a Latin community around Tarsus who were immigrated to the region around crusades time from the Levant.

If anything this post has convinced me to re-buy RE4 for like the zillionth time on the Switch.

We get another tidbit of Sonic Frontiers from IGN today at noon EDT, this time focusing on combat.

Watching the SEGA presentation, and to be honest Nintendo should cancel their Direct, they can't make something better than that :

Turns out I was right to expect retro hardware. Good for the people who like them but that's gonna be a skip for me.
Yeah strong pass for me

I don’t think this is gonna do well for Sega. I think people have moved on from retro consoles like this

Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, Pokémon S/V, The Calisto Protocol, Street Fighter 6, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil 4 Remake, BOTW2, FFXVI

Clean the apartment, make and freeze some lunches for the next couple of weeks, watch the quarter finals of Super Rugby Pacific, maybe do a little research, watch the next episode of Obi Wan and Stranger Things, possibly go to a museum, play some Mass Effect.
