I'm curious how they'll handle the release of Custom Robo 1 & 2 on the schedule, since these are certainly not coming internationally

Oh ffs

MAR10 day in 2023 is a Friday.

Guess we know when the movie is coming out lol

wrong wrong wrong pls ignore

Prediction: The next NSO N64 game will not be from one of the games listed in Wave 1; sending Famiboards into chaos.
GoldenEye 007 NSO + Remaster finally unveiled

Ogre Battle 64, Castlevania 64, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon 1 & 2 and Mischief Makers are the rest of the third party games that are worthy (and that could happen, sorry Goldeneye).

I expect them to double up. And I still expect 1 during the first wave otherwise why announce it so early

You forgot Snowboard kids 1/2, hybrid Heaven and Deadly Arts

Oh I wasn't thinking of anything spectacular. I was thinking of something like Pilot Wings just randomly dropping instead of any of the Wave 1 games. It doesn't take much to send this forum into chaos.

Snowboard kids
Never played Snowboards Kids but since it was published by Atlus back in the day, wouldn't the rights be with SEGA now? Like Kirby 64, always one of those N64 games that eluded me but want to try.
Hybrid Heaven is more like a C grade game, I like it, but it's really weird. I'd like to play it again though. Deadly Arts was called... 'GASP!! Fighters' NEXTream' over here apparently, actually (don't hate on me) never heard of it before but with a title like that, I have to try it out lol.

Started playing XenoblaDE for the first time... Already laughing at how the characters don't stop talking during battle.

Also, I was bombarded by tutorials right away.

My friend just had the battery in their car key go dead, which is a stupid sentence that I have to type, and because I'm the designated "car fixit guy" I got recruited to fix it. Everything I've seen about new car keys these days is that they have to be done by the dealership because they need to be re-programmed to match the VIN of the car, so I called the Toyota dealership and they said they could do them while I wait. Fast forward to me at the Toyota service department being told they actually don't have the ability to open the fob after all but that I'm more than welcome to try and do it myself with their tools.

.... Remember when a "key" was a piece of metal with teeth cut in it and when you inserted and turned it the thing would work? I remember those days. I miss those days.

I'm sure the concept of purchasing a physical good that is engineered in a way to require perpetual support from the manufacturer while the manufacturer can just stop providing support at some point relates to gaming SOMEhow, right?

@CyberWolfJV made a nice graphic of missing and plausible N64 games, also including Rare stuff owned by Microsoft.

Man this really just does emphasize how small the N64 library is, lol. They already have a fair chunk of the N64's biggest hits on NSO by now. Even including all of the Rare stuff is really still delaying the issue.

I guess it could help if they could get more Winback styled third party stuff, like Mischief Makers or Snowboards Kids 1 & 2.

Not that make much of a difference, but they used the Atlus name for the Shin Megami Tensei rerelease on the Super Famicom app on NSO; Meanwhile, Super Puyo Puyo 2, was published by SEGA on the SNES app in all regions;

So going by that graphic above, these are the only remaining first party N64 games to have never ever been re-released on VC in the history of ever.

  • Pilotwings 64
  • Cruis’n World
  • Cruis'n Exotica
  • Hey You Pikachu
  • Mario Party
  • Mario Party 3
  • Pocket Monsters’ Stadium (JP only)
  • Pokemon Stadium
  • Pokemon Stadium 2
  • Shigesato Itoi's No. 1 Bass Fishing (JP only)
  • Animal Crossing (JP only)
  • GoldenEye 007
  • Mickey's Speedway USA

And then obviously all the N64DD stuff.

Obviously there's also the Rare stuff that have been stuck in Microsoft Land for the past 20 years lol. I'd also say the original Diddy Kong Racing counts, in a way. Yes, it did get a remake on DS (which itself was never even re-released even when Wii U had DS games), but that version is also very different and generally not nearly as well liked as its original N64 counterpart. It and GoldenEye are like the two major pieces of Rare's golden years that have been lost in the cracks, whether you're on Nintendo platforms or Xbox.

Also it's really weird that neither Cruis'n sequel ever got a re-release, especially since the first one was on Wii VC.

NSO marked the first time Dr. Mario 64 and the first Custom Robo have seen the light of day since their original releases, and also the first time Banjo-Kazooie got re-released on a Nintendo platform since 1998, so I wonder if any of the games above will eventually make the jump.

Didn't even know there was a Dr. Mario 64.

Not gonna lie Fami, it's been a horrendously challenging week and such is the relapse with chronic illness that this whole venture may have been a terrible idea which needs to end prematurely.

So uuuuuuuh I'm gonna play a videogame for a bit and keep chugging at Pokemon Legends

I got a copy of Mario Tennis Open for 3DS a little while ago, and I gotta say, I feel like Aces is worse than MTO, and it really shouldn't be.

In particular, the special shot system is great because it adds an added interesting metagame in play against another human: Will the opponent take the special shot, or are they going to head there to return the ball and make me think they will before sending back a different type of shot?

Everyone who likes Aces loves the metagame, but - and let me know if I'm being crazy by saying this - it's kinda doo doo compared to MTO.

I also just like the game better. I don't like gyro controls, but I appreciate how they're instituted in this game. It's also mode-poor, but the core gameplay is much better than Aces IMO.

How would everyone feel about a Famiboards news feed

Like an optional ticker at the bottom of the page, that shows headlines from specific news sources

That could be toggled off / on for anybody who doesn't want it
I don’t like it

but as long as it could be turned off, I support the will of the community!

does it show on mobile?

I think it’s a fun idea but I know for me personally, feeds like that aren’t good with my add / other shit. But again, I support the community!

Yes, it would show just fine on mobile

So what I'm thinking is defaulting it to "off", and letting anybody turn it on.
