There's one repeat frame in this batch, so I guess they're running low on those.
 
The repeat this week is triggering me more than it should reasonably do.

I wonder if they’re done with frames and backgrounds for Super Mario Odyssey now. The added icon elements from this week’s update make a total of 19 frames and 20 backgrounds, which completely fills the screen in the Icon Creation menu—this is true even with one less frame because there’s a “none” option in the first slot for frames, whereas backgrounds don’t have that. So with us getting a single repeat frame this week, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve now seen all the Super Mario Odyssey frames/backgrounds, and Nintendo isn’t going to make more than 19/20 frames/backgrounds per game so that you can view all possible options on screen at the same time without having to scroll.

Just under a couple hours until we find out if this is the case or not! We should be getting the Lake Kingdom icon elements this week—the last batch of Super Mario Odyssey icon elements for the month—which would mean that we’ll have been through all of the Super Mario Odyssey icon elements that have been shown in the promotional images so far. Wonder if they’re just going to be done with the Odyssey icon elements after this, or if they’ll come back to the game in the future with icon elements from some of the later Kingdoms.
 
I'm gonna miss having all the Mario love on the icon front, but hey, Mario will come back at some point. I'm curious to see which game gets the monthly treatment next. Maybe Breath of the Wild? Get that Switch launch year content going, ya know.

I’d like to see some Pokémon get featured. I’m still shocked we never got regular icons for them at any point, not even a Pikachu. Maybe closer to the release of SV we’ll get something.

If one of the Pokémon weeks gave us protagonist avatars, I’d keep Ethan as my icon forever!

Lol, I forgot that there are backgrounds for each Kingdom too, so guess it makes sense that we weren’t actually done with those yet. My theory that they’ll only be doing 19/20 frames/backgrounds is busted! =P

Hoping we see the Breath of the Wild or Splatoon 2 icon elements next week, though I’m also curious to know if we might possibly get the ability to use Miis with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe icon elements too. Still guessing either Zelda or Mario Kart for next month, but Zelda might be the more likely of the two.

Get your Super Mario Odyssey Lake Kingdom and Animal Crossing: New Horizons March birthday resident icon elements before they’re gone! We should have the April birthdays and likely either Mario Kart, Zelda, or Splatoon icon elements in a few hours!

That’d be cool but I doubt they’re gonna be doing any other games before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2 since we’ve already seen icon elements for those. I don’t think the fact that Super Mario Bros. was the featured NES game last month was supposed to correlate at all to the Super Mario Odyssey icon elements being available at the same time, other than Nintendo wanting to start with Mario for both.
 
This along with the "folders" were some very useless updates. The switch menu is awful, why dont they just do something akin to the 3ds menu, or a phone?

Yeah, we'll see in a couple of hours. It's just that I would like them to focus on franchises that don't already have a lot of avatars to choose from in the first place. That, and I mainly hope they don't do Mario and MK back to back, but that probably isn't something they are considering either.

Didn't snag the Tom Nook keychain before it was gone, but I did get both sets of N64 cartridge keychains, so that's cool.

Hopefully, they'll re-stock the Tom Nook keychain in the next couple months so that I can save up and get it.

I will say this for Nintendo: Before I got a Switch, I had a lanyard with one main keyholder, but now I have a whole Nintendo key thing going on out of nowhere (and I ended up having to replace my old lanyard, so I got a Mario-themed one to make it fit with all the keychains I've picked up through this program).

Guess they’re going with Splatoon 2 first after all! I figured they’d do Zelda or Mario Kart first and save Splatoon for closer to summer, but I guess they might want to get the Splatoon 2 icon elements out of the way early enough before Splatoon 3.

One of the April software is Splatoon 2.

IIRC, for Mario was "The March Software is Mario Odissey"

Good, I don't care about Splatoon or any of the villagers with April birth months. I can finally save up these plat points. Give me a month or two off before running icons from another game that I want icons and backgrounds for, please.

I dunno, I think we’ll get non-EPD+Kirby icon elements eventually, and maybe even third-party ones, too. Might be more viable for Nintendo to do that with these than the ones that are baked into the system by default, since these are only available for a limited time.

I also assume they’ll eventually start featuring more than just two games per month, though the extra monthly game(s) may end up only being repeats.

Same, I'm just disappointed we didn't have this sooner. When the Switch era started my platinum points was something around 3000 or so and now I have 730.

Few tricks to collect quick platinum points:
1) log in 3ds e-shop every monday
2) log in nintendo site and my nintendo site every monday2
3) Buy super mario run for smartphone: every day you can farm 10 points, plus 50 every week.
4) Play fire emblem echoes, they give 100 platinum points every chapter done
5) There are some missions also on animal crossing pocket camp, if i see i'm in shortage of points, i'll dedicate spare minutes to this game too

I already do all of this except #5—Pocket Camp is just too slow and grindy to be worth it to me, unless there’s an easy way to complete camper requests fast that I’m not aware of—and still feel like I’m gonna run out of points soon at this rate. #2 seems to not be a thing anymore, and #4 is good for some emergency Platinum Points when needed but it’s not an infinite reservoir of points since it’ll only last until you catch up to the latest chapter, unfortunately…

I'm still waiting for them to offer my favorite Splatoon stage as a background (What is my favorite Splatoon stage?) but I was delighted to see crazy aunt Flow repped.
 
got the new splatoon ones but i got low on platinum points. downloaded FE heroes and it's pretty easy to farm points with that. you can just use auto battle to finish the chapters and each one gives 100 points.

Yeah that’s what I’m doing too, kind of boring though I don’t know why but I don’t like heroes.
Still I’ll play it for the points

it took me like 30 mins to get 400 points (link account + finish prologue, chapter 1 and 2). that should be enough for a while and then i can just finish a couple more chapters.
