FamiBoards makes me feel strange for not having an especially strong preference for liking either Xenoblade 1 or 2 over the other, and also for not being willing to fight to the death over my preference.
As someone who falls hard on the XC2 side of the debate, I naturally blame the XC1 fans for this

Specifically, I played 2 before 1 (or more specifically DE) and had to live with "XC2 is so inferior to 1" complaints for a solid 2 and a half years. So naturally I was pretty interested/hyped to see why people considered 1 so much better and was fairly disappointed when it just...wasn't (it's still a solid enough game in its own right though, just not as good as 2)

whenever Xenoblade comes up in this thread

Nintendo employee: "Sir, the away team just sent word... the people are hyped! They LOVED the January Direct! Folks are even thinking about buying a Kirby game!"

Madame President Nintendo: "Good Ensign, good... we have them right where we want them." *sips :coffee: * "Now, I want a full spread of photon torpedoes targeting their legacy eShops."

Ensign Kim: *Shocked Pikachu face.gif * "Ye-yes, Sir...bu-but Sir... what about the away team!?"

Madame President Nintendo: *sips :coffee: while looking directly into the camera * "Fire."

I think some localizers are upset they didn’t stick with the actual localization and added a second “traditional” translation, which is essentially as close to the word for word as possible. Lots of translators and localizers have been getting shit on for years by fringe elements that decry changes as “censorship” rather than actual localization to intent or culturally appropriate stuff. I think they see a big company towing this line as a bad thing.
I like having the option, though. There are certain older games (Chrono Trigger) where I miss elements of the original localization (Frog's inexplicable Shakespearean dialogue) in the (mostly) superior new localization.

Btw

I don't care which Xenoblade it is, I like them all. (Allthough I prefer the original)

If someone talks shit Xenoblade

Hello is this thing on?

Am I all alone?

Is anyone there?

I NEED A BIGGER GUN

The only translations that I get mad about (and this is not actually mad but more of a “we know what this really is”) is Ace Attorney being set in LA. Like, we don’t need to have Japanese food changed into burgers because we are insular dolts (many are mind you). It looks really out of place seeing small Japanese monasteries and towns in this games being passed off as some American locale. Anyhow, I’m all about creative localization if it makes games better.
We at least got this amazing comic because of the silly localization changes in Ace Attorney

Both XC1 and XC2 have strengths and weaknesses, but when it comes down to it my hope is that 3 is closer to 1 than to 2.

No opinion on X as I haven't played it.

I watched Faiz 555 literally 12 years ago and remember it being bonkers
not good or bad just
bonkers
I enjoyed it but that’s with a lot of caveats. Definitely a Rider show that couldn’t be made today, for better or worse lmao

Weirdly there's a glitch with the Nintendo store where it says I need to log in, but everytime I click to do so it opens a new tab that loads briefly before closing again just as quick.

Man who needs new games when old games are just so much better?

All you need to do is destroy your memory cells with drugs and alcohol periodically and you can keep playing the same amazing games over and over forever without getting bored!
So this is how I get another Chrono Trigger. By going on a bender and then playing Chrono Trigger.

Any impressions on the motion modes in Tennis Aces and Super Rush? I wonder if I should dig into them ahead of Switch Sports

1/2 : swing mode in aces is bad lol

I'm in such a melancholic music '80 's mood tonight (in a good way, really enjoying it, I'm not sad or anything). And this is on constant rotation:

hold up

EDIT: wrong thread ah

This makes me really want the game even more!

Xenoblade X is my least favorite and least played Xenoblade game. But with that said, it's still an amazing experience and there's nothing really like it out there, even when compared to other Xenoblade games. It's an easy game to get lost in just explorting the world, fighting enemies, upgrading your mechs, etc.

It's my least favorite of the three games, for sure, mostly due to the characters, story, cutscenes, music, etc. (and I don't like skell combat, don't @me)

BUT what it does do really well, and better than almost any game I can think of, is the exploration and sense of scale to it. The feeling of finally being able to fly with your mech into the giant sphere late in the game and finding a superboss inside, or seeing these absolutely titanic monsters flying in the distance that you can eventually fight once you unlock the ability to get to them, is really special.

Jogs in wii fit were seriously what ignited my passion for running and taught me to just run aimlessly around every city I've lived in

I always get nostalgic for it whenever I run on gravel and hear the crunch

anyway I'll stop with the wuhu spam now, thank you for the serotonin whoever was discussing nss soundtracks and led me here

ahaha you're not wrong

I'm not vacationed so I thank Nintendo for filling that gap lol

I loved the free run mode in Wii Fit. Just nice to have a run for 10 minutes or so. Although I was always a little over-exuberant when doing it and often had my poor Mii falling flat on his face. That and the Rhythm Boxing were my personal favorites for workouts.

"Hey Kit, who is your favourite member of famiboards"

The reason why they left Nintendo is what I expected. NOA is consolidating in Redmond and anyone who wanted to relocate was aloud to. Kit and Krysta didn't and so they left to do their own thing.

Their podcast is great;
love to hear their unfiltered opinions on games, especially on Nintendo stuff;

Kit started the show shooting fires at Konami lol

Finally had my Zelda Game & Watch exchanged so the new one is en route. Thinking of ordering Triangle Strategy from the same website, but gonna wait to see if this Game & Watch arrives without damage.

Downloaded the genesis app today and... How come this doesn't have Sonic 1? So weird that it's not there and I hadn't heard about it

So if you’re Nintendo, do you release Majoras Mask a day before Horizon, or a day before Elden Ring?

I really hope it’s tomorrow because I’m not buying Horizon and I’d love to play Majoras Mask to kill time waiting for Elden Ring.
