This game we’ll have to choose a path that has major consequences for the ending. Pick which side you want to help.
I don't really think so, because it feels like the whole point of the story is that the main party is caught between the two sides. Certainly seems like the story will be about stopping the conflict. The trailer and the whole "fighting to live, living to fight" tagline have a real anti-war feel.

I was actually joking with my post lol.

I know this a joke post and all, but wouldn't it be a nice change to have same-sex love interests? Say, a love triangle between Noah, Mio and Eunie, where Eunie loves Mio? Other than the bathtub Blade Sheba and potentially? Mórag and Brighid, there haven't been much implied same-sex feelings, right?
If you're counting Morág and Brighid then you should also count Jin and Malos, their relationship seemed really romantic (more so on Malos' side but still).

In the trailer they look randomly scattered, especially in that area with the flame-like leaves at ~1min into the trailer. There's at least 4-5 of them in that split second.

I know some spots in 2 were close together, but not to this extent.
I see, then maybe we really are returning to XC1 collectibles.

Lol, definitely waaaaaay nicer than what I suggested. Alternative narcissistic love song Myself, sung to the theme of my girl, replacing girl with self.

I suggest Melia and Nia, bonding together after tensions are relieved by a fit of hysterics from watching the new games love interests all flop in the most absurd and yet dejavu ways. Power couple right there.

Wait, wait. Eunie and black-winged High Entia are the same character, right? Does something happen and her wings turn black? Because both close-ups of her? are during what seems the night, yet in one she has gray wings, because of the darkness, yet in the other they're black.

the high entia in the black dress? that's Melia

Real talk here, I hope they implement something similar to the Blade System in XC2 (which I feel was a big part of its success). Having unique characters as collectables that could also work as weapons made the game much more compelling.

Eh. On one hand it's like an rpg with an ensemble cast, which definitely appeals to me, I can identify with that appeal, Except you never meet any of them, establish a relationship, shared common goals, get them to join your cause and party.

You just get them out of a lottery machine and then you own them. Collecting..... people in such a way was pretty weird for me. I uh. I threw away a lot of people..... Just one after the other. literally 'Im alive! Hey new master let's go adventure tog-' common trash next. Like there is an entire country somewhere in alrest comprised soley of.... Feels like it must be tens of thousands of bitter people discarded by me because they weren't rare blades.

Probably just lighting in the cutscene. Seems like the shadow made it look black.

I know you're saying all of this tongue in cheek, but a scene of them bonding over past experiences would be wholesome.

I think I won't watch any theory videos. I remember before BotW's release I watched a bunch of them, then while playing it was more like "Just like the theories said." instead of "Oh, so that happened?" I'm usually not one to rewatch trailers and analyse everything. I was actually kind of annoyed when they showed the long XC2 segments during Directs, because I didn't want to know too much. I didn't even watch all the trailers, so I actually thought Jin and Malos would be party members. lol
I'm more likely to rewatch trailers because of the music.

I guess so. Because that's a really freaking dark shade. Go from white to downright black? Like, jeez. lol Though perhaps the lighting engine isn't fully implemented yet or something? Different coloured wings would be cool though. Now I actually want a High Entia with black wings.

Ha ha it's definitely presented tongue in cheek, but that doesn't mean it's not wholesome, (how can it not be?) Or desired. Seriously, those 2 are like majorly overdue some good karma.

You should DEFINITELY stay away from theories with Xenoblade.... And what you said makes me think I should really make sure to remember to also spoiler serious speculation.

Xenoblade, has a surprisingly solid vision with very solid narrative rules based on real-world sources, historical (religious symbology, the uh, dead philosopher society, computer programming), and fictional (the Space Odyssey franchise, Takahashi is a Gaga head over heels megafan, of both the movies, of which he has recreated quite a few scenes from across the xeno games, and the books, most people are only familiar with 2001, but there are 2010, and 2061 which is where he pulls stuff like the wave form existance (former astronaut Dave Bowman), upper domain and whatnot from). Which makes it seemingly pretty easy (and satisfying) to land squarely in the ballpark of nailing the underpinning framework of what's going on.

I want to know how the combat's going to be changed up for 3. It won't be identical to 2, but I feel like it'll be more involved than 1.
Right now I feel the biggest clue we have is the screen on all the weapons, that change between an orobourous, and a circular bar graph of some measurement.

Given that the battle system will be balanced around four party members, our best guess would be to look at how X balanced its combat. Perhaps the Ouroboros power is akin to overdrive, where you build up the team gauge and then go crazy spamming infinite arts? I do think just by having 4 active combatants in each fight teambuilding is going to more dynamic than it was in XC1.

Halfway point.

There will surely be a shakeup in the formula given the history of the past games. Hard to really predict without any gameplay footage for now.

What if the XC1 characters operate under XC1-esque battle system (with a full 8 art palette) while the XC2 characters operate under a XC2-esque battle system (with 3 arts and art canceling). In this case, the two would both share driver combos (break -> topple -> launch/daze) and chain attacks.

This announcement made me so happy, especially that it’s coming out this year! I cannot wait.

That first shot of Noah looks straight out of Mo Dao Zu Shi / Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, so it'd be extra disappointing if XC3 is yet another heteros-only event. I'll try not to get my hopes up though.

It seems they're trying to be a little more inclusive since this time the party is not just white people, so maybe there's a chance? Lol
But I woudn't expect it unfortunetely

I'm so glad to see someone point out how much Takahashi is inspired by the Space Odyssey series
I absolutely loved those books (all 4) as a kid so Xeno- is kinda my dream series.

Ah, that's right, I forgot about the final book, 3001!

His take on the Jupiter scene from 2 for xenoblade is going to be completely insane. 'Ye shall be as gods' from the gears intro is such a crazy good homage. Definitely a lot more ominous a message and scene than the wave form from Odyssey gave people in 2010. Love that scene from gears.

Fam only If you are familiar with gears/saga/blade:
The spreading black shadow on Jupiter is monoliths/Zohars/conduits. Trillions and trillions of them, multiplying at an insane rate by converting Jupiter's matter into more of them, they consume so much of Jupiter to repurpose the matter into more monoliths it starts shrinking, and then condenses and produces enough energy to create a dwarf star out of Jupiter's matter, turning Europa into a habitable planet in a new mini solar system.

The incredible gears Intro to compare to the Jupiter scene it drew Inspiration from:

I dont think the masked high entia and gormothian are melia and nia. That would be too easy.. I think there will be connection to one and two but probably it will be much more indirect.

This video has aged very nicely

Yeah I remember seeing this video back then, and it's hilarious to think how astonished he must be now that his "most wild dreams" are indeed coming true. I need to see his reaction/analysis video ASAP.

Also, loving calling this the "Klaus Saga".

Downloaded XC: DE again today, think I might just pick up my cloud save from Valak Mountain and go from there since I recall the first game fairly well.

Anyone have a good recap/explainer video for XC2? I feel like I barely remember that one.

I don't think it will be THAT different (using a different UI and arts count), but it would be interesting if each group worked differently, like Tora but not limited to 1.

For example, XC1 group has a greatsword which is also a shield and a staff which is a riffle too. Going from that and the nations descriptions, we could have:

XC1 groupXC2 group
Alternate weaponsAlternate elements
Talent Art per weapon, with unique mechanicSpecial attack per element, with 3 levels
Arts combos (like Dive Sobat or E. Gutbuster)Elemental combos (like Blade combos)
Arts charge over timeCharge on Auto-Atks

This could be really interesting, tbh! It would give more reason to try and mix and match between the two groups of characters, rather than letting bias for XC1 or XC2 rule the way you build your party.

Sooooo this trailer made me really wanna play say Xenoblade.

I played and loved Xenoblade 2 when it came out, but as per usual with me, I finish the game but don't go back for the DLC.

Is Torna worth it?
For you and people going back and playing through the Torna expansion, an important tip: The game tells you early on to not worry too much about sidequests and they're optional. That is a lie. Don't neglect sidequests.

Calling it now

Xenoblade 2 earth was also an artificial world, but created based on the real earth. Both artificial worlds were combined in a new planet, Mira.

Xenoblade X will be a Switch successor launch title, followed by Xenoblade XI, which will finish the arc. There is no connection to the trilogy besides being in the same universe/planet as XC3.

Xenoblade 4-5-6 is another standalone arc set in the same universe with minor references.

Xenoblade 7 starts a new standalone arc. Xenoblade 8 actually connects all arcs. Xenoblade 9 reveals the faction you helped on Xenoblade XI are actually the real villains.

Xenoblade XII gives closure to the series. After the credits, it shows "Xenoblade Chronicles Part 1 - THE END"

I'm roughly 12.7452% serious.

Buying Monolith Soft has turned out to be one of the best moves Nintendo has made this century.

They've gained not only their own epic RPG series unlike anything EPD makes, but also support in so many of their other games from BOTW to Splatoon to Animal Crossing.

Xenoblade brings such an awesome dose of variety to their first party catalogue, as it's so different from the likes of Mario or Zelda.

This already looks to be another gem in Switch's crown.

Ok, just noticed that everyone of the 6 members except for Mio has a lighting effect in one of their legs on the art designs made from saito. Call me crazy but I think Mio could be our early killed character.
Sharp eye! That does stand out... If she dies, though, I wonder
if it'll be like XC1 or XC2 in terms of if it sticks or not
? Either way I guess that implies the trailer shows mostly early game stuff cutscene wise, to make room for her dying off early... Food for thought, for sure.

Her right leg (the lifted one) has sort of a faded purpleish cast over it, if you compare it to her other leg. I think that's her lighting effect.

If it is, it doesnt follow the colour pattern and definitely not that shiny. I hope it meant other thing but it is not a coincidence for sure.

I might play Torna later this year in anticipation for 3. It will help scratch that itch during the wait while also not being too long to make it to the end.
