With the Mario party 1 hub and item shop back wonder if we’ll get a new version of this item

Or any of these back

I love early Mario party, so I am interested. My only real reservation is the amount of boards and if I can wrangle some friends in

This will be my first experience with these boards, but I'm weirdly delighted that my interest in Horror Land seems well reflected in the poll.

Any novelties or general recommendations to keep in mind for someone who has only played entries from Mario Party 4 onward?

Horror Land has the great day/night mechanic. The board setup is great and its one of people’s favorite of all time.

Really looking forward to this. The boards look like a lot more fun and interesting, aesthetically speaking. Horror Land looks especially neat. Still not a fan of the UI, but the game itself still looks fantastic. Nintendo party games are always the center of any family/friends gettogethers and this will be a welcome addition.

Everything about this game looks great except for all of the Lucky Spaces on all the boards. Coin distribution was a huge issue in SMP and everyone was running around with way too many coins all the time - all the tension and excitement in the mid to late game vanished and the mini-games became pointless.

Superstars seems to correct some of this with 20 coin star prices being reinstated, along with mini-games not handing out coins to everyone - but all of the Lucky Spaces seem like they could once again throw off the coin balance.

Considering they brought back the first game’s hub the only one with a non board store, perhaps they’ll bring back map options too like it had. Could include a lucky space toggle(original had a boo toggle and another one I can’t remember

It's wild to me that they just briefly showed Mushroom Village in that video and then there's nothing about it anywhere else. They know I'm going to be disappointed if there's nothing cool hidden in there so there's gotta be at least one thing.

I am really hoping that Mushroom Village is hiding something cool, yeah. Just kind of surprised they haven't really highlighted it despite the full websites being opened already

Right? Like that makes me think there might not be much more to it. But then this is Nintendo so really who knows.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they just release this game as scheduled at the end of the month with no further fanfare. Mario Party seems to be a series they announce, show off one or two things, then release.

Some users on Twitter and the Mario Party subreddit are speculating the ability to turn off character voices due to Nintendo accounts tweeting gameplay videos with the characters not saying much. If this is true, I’d definitely welcome it as the characters grunt way too much, especially after every action. Could tie into the options house in the Mushroom Village as well.

you know.....i've always wondered why Mario Party 1 and 2 look very different than 3......did they used a different engine or something?
Oh, that's an easy one to answer.

Mario Party was intended to recieve a Nintendo 64DD expansion instead of a sequel, so MP2 was built directly on-top of the original and retained a lot more assets from 1 than 3 did from 2.

We probably won't have genie's lamp for balancing reasons. What a shame...
It's already been seen in the form of the Golden Pipe item (as it was in Mario Party DS and Super Mario Party). The Lucky Lamp from Mario Party 3 is also still in as the Chomp Call.

Belgian Nintendo channel on youtube uploaded this ad today. Oh man, even the title theme from MP 1 is in and remade as (what I assume) the main title theme of this game. I love the soundtracks of the first few games and I'm just irrationally hyped and overwhelmed with nostalgia for this game I guess, haha!

Omg a remix of Mario Party 1’s title screen theme! So amazing.

The music for the first game was so good because Yasunori Mitsuda did it. Crazy how they got him to do Mario Party

I’m still thinking the item shop could have a board or two and some characters. Maybe they’ll bring back board setting toggle items?

It feels like they’re doing a lot of hitting that nostalgia of the first game. It makes me think even more we will get toggles, we will get to buy a board, we will get to buy characters, etc. Especially if there’s less modes you beef up the item shop.

This had to be a big deal for Nintendo with playing it in handheld, especially with the Lite being a thing
Agreed, Super Mario Party had some good ideas, but the forced motion controls wasn’t that good for me, especially as I like playing switch games on handheld mode so a good handheld one and I’m already sold. The n64 stuff and nostalgia is just extra for me. Makes it even more worth getting

Appreciate the context, that definitely sounds rad! Obviously don't have any nostalgia of my own due to a lack of interest in Mario Party from people I had available for multiplayer back then, but I'm having a fun time seeing others so excited about this one and looking forward getting to finally experience these entries for myself.

Haven’t played a mario party since the N64 days, so I’m excited to get back into the series with this entry. It also helps I will helps I have children old enough to comprehend the controls and game rules since none of my older friends would want to play this. Might be able to add it to a party rotation though.

You can also bring one of your kids with you online to challenge us!

I forgot during the Treehouse when they landed on a Battle Space it disappeared after they finished battling. It turned into a normal blue space. I feel line with the abundance of Lucky Spaces they could’ve done the same with them. When you land on one it turns into a regular blue space.

I really wish this had more boards or were an expansion to the first game. I will buy this as I did Super Mario - the first Mario Party game I ever bought - but I feel like when I'm having Mario Party sessions I'm going to have to swap between the two for variety.

I have the same problem with Super Mario Party that I do with Pokemon Let's Go: Pikachu! and Let's Go: Eevee!

They are fantastic games with extremely limited accessibility.

This is a fundamental design choice—Super Mario Party's games were designed for motion controls, and Pokemon Let's Go's combat was designed to replicate the mobile Pokemon Go experience.

That being said, while I enjoyed both games immensely, I'm extremely happy to have both a much more accessible Mario Party game and a much more accessible traditional top-down Pokemon game release within a month of each other.

Does anyone know if this game will have “Download Play” ala Clubhouse Games? Want to buy physical, but the thought of my wife and I playing Mario Party in bed is making me lean digital.

I'm excited to replay my favorite minigames for Mario Party 2, I have fond memories of them :)

Another trailer out of Japan. There might be two trailers. Japan giving us all the Mario Party trailers lol (and some Europe). I’m watching through right now. I see the Plunder Chest. Not sure if we knew it returned?

-We see Bowser Stickers!
-Chain Chomp Whistle was used

Second trailer

We get a full clean view of Mushroom Village. They go inside the pipe. Heck yeah they still have all the characters dropping down the pipe like Mario Party 1.

Plunder Chest was spotted during some screenshots a while back. I love how they fall through the pipe, that’s a very great touch. There are also options in the YTI video with it explaining how the game will go - number of turns, bonus stars on and off, and the last two I am assuming based off sloppy translation will be about minigame packs (i.e. Mario Party 3’s easy/all/hard minigames options) and then game mechanics, which I think would be about tips popping up about how the board works, such as Toad explaining how Toadette and Bowser switched places.

Here’s a clear snapshot

Left is the bank is now online communication but the shop is the same and right is music and stamps for sure(formerly the minigame select mode), option shed is the same and boat goes to minigame mountain instead of island

Oh nice catch. The book shows the music note and stickers. We couldn’t see the book clearly. We assumed the item shop would sell stickers. So Kameks building will have them unlockable? If so more reason to believe the item shop will sell characters, board (please), etc.

I think that’s the music/sticker gallery/select. Shop likely sells everything

It’s like 3-5 spaces lol. I’m more concerned with the vast amounts of Lucky Spaces. That’s modern day Mario Party.
FYI all of those are event spaces in the original game. So they likely serve the same function here

Yeah, event spaces are green ! Marks, lucky were blue ! Marks

Edit: facepalm I forgot they’re the lucky clovers now, nm

Wait, why is nobody talking about the setting on that setup screen? They are:

Turn Count (set to '10 Turns')
Bonus Stars (turned on)
Minigame Descriptions (turned on)
Minigame Set (set to 'Normal')

So, Bonus Stars are back to being something you can toggle like pre-Super Mario Party games, and Minigame Sets are a thing again too like multiple previous installments. Wonder how many sets are avaialble.

I didn’t talk about it because I don’t understand Japanese lol. These are good things to see. Just like the old days.

I'd love to see the hidden block toggles and stuff return!

New overview trailer dropped. Definitely concerned about the economy in this game. I know it was late game but seeing 2 players have over 100 coins(170 and 131) with another just under 100 with around 80 is enough to make me pause. Also, more than a quarter of the spaces on horror land are lucky spaces. I really just hope we can toggle those spaces off lol. I know we won't but let me hope.

Also slightly disappointed there doesn't seem to be a decathlon like mode.
