I knew that Typhlosion was gonna be a bit of Greninja situation. Always gotta see these things in action.

Here's a video of H-Decidueye in a battle against a bandit boss:

Sick animation on Triple Arrow

Hope we get to see the other starters' signature moves soon since they seem to be puttiing in the effort for them (as per usual with signature moves recently)

Okay. I've come around on the starters after seeing them in motion. Also, they seemed to have been a good amount of work into the animations for these pokemon. I'm really coming around on this game fast. Like I was interested and was probably going to get it. Now, I'm hyped to play it.

Not the best screenshot but here's wild H-Sliggoo and H-Goodra. Sliggoo can float on water on its shell, and on land it drags its body. Also, Goodra's shell is its tail, seemingly hardened into steel.

Really sounds like Game Freak hit it out of the park with everything but the graphics (which aren't that bad). Pretty damn good.
Yeah they really just put their all into this one, it's great to see.

Hopefully A. The game actually ends up as good as it seems and B. this isn't just a one-off and we continue to see this improvement with future titles. Would also love to see future Legends games that hew closer to this concept if this one does well.

Apparently this game may actually provide a legitimate challenge at points. At the very least some of the later Noble battles seem tough from what people are saying

We're starting to get stat information for some new Pokémon and forms, keep an eye on this Reddit thread

EDIT: @ze_ that has to be the most simultaneous post in the history of simultaneous posts lmao

Probably for the best that the Pokemon don't follow you. AI following the player through an open world environment is probably one of the hardest things to do. Anyone here who was has played the Xenoblade games can attest to how janky it looks at times. Allies running off cliffs, randomly jumping, and teleporting just to keep up with the player.

Yeah I agree man. Especially since this is an open world game with pokemon all over..

Pokemon may not follow you but being able to just pop multiple of them out to just chill is a pretty cool replacement (if not better, imo, since they now kinda interact with each other)

That is so good. Can you climb anywhere or just designated spots?
Update on this by the way: you can! You can just press A on any rock face to summon Sneasler to climb. It doesn't work like Rock Climb, and you can even climb trees.

Since there's time traveling, Legends is obviously the branching for point of the Pokemon timeline. One timeline contains all of the original mainline games. Another contains all of the Pokemon remakes. They're similar but different. And a third split creates the timeline of the anime.

You can read all about it in Poke-Historia, coming out in 2025.

Wait, I just realized that I'm not gonna have to see Pokemon discourse for a while if this game is as good as the leaks say. My excitement is palpable and my day is made.

Oh no all the tweets are being taken down! Does anyone have video of decidueye in game? I need to see him idling and with shading...

I found this video for anyone who is wondering and hasn't seen it

I'm.. no longer upset about decidueye's new form. It actually looks much better in game than I thought it would.

Looks like the leaks made the game do a massive 180° on most people who were down or less interested in it.

Sure looks like Gamefreak put a lot of work and thought into this game.

It looks much better than I expected, the H-Typhlosion looks amazing in motion, I was not planning to get this at launch, but maybe now I think I will.

Playing KOTOR this month and it was always fun when an AI party member had failed to keep up and the game wouldn't let you move to the next part of the map until they catch up.

Of course, you can swap to that party member and control them directly, but then your two other party members (stood where you want them to stand) will start running over to the other party member who's on the other side of the map.

I will not miss the opportunity to act smug in future conversations on this game, as someone who was always optimistic about it.

Same here.

However, Hisuian Decidueye looks terrible and I am deeply saddened by it.

This deal keeps getting better all the time

Are review copies out yet? This one could well take a lot of reviewers by surprise, given they haven't had actual access to a preview build. Feels like Game Freak and Nintendo wanted to sidestep the usual hyperactive discourse and catch critics and fans off guard, though I guess some of the secrecy can be explained by what happened with Sword and Shield.

Iirc, there has been talk about the review copies being out since last week or early Jan? Could be wrong though.

Not yet, but here's what I remember so far:
  • First person mode
  • 2 v 1 battles (first time hearing about it in this game, not first in the series)
  • Trainer battles confirmed
  • New status/weather effects
  • You can run around during battles
  • Main character is a time traveler

Cheers, this seems like its a lot more that what the trailers have been letting on? I'm now 50/50 on getting this after seeing the reactions haha

I was already sold on the game, but my only gripe is the pokemon selection. Seeing the move animations(Flamethrower looks insane now) makes the ~250 roster make sense, however I wanted Gen 1 and Gen 2 starters since those are my fav gens. Would have loved to use Feraligatr and Charizard in this game. Other than that, I have not been so excited for a Pokemon game in decades.

That's an unfortunate issue, especially because I feel like that's only a problem because Gamefreak only started restricting the Dex recently, when they probably should have been doing it decades ago. By the time they got to Gen III/IV, it should have been fairly obvious that adding 50-100 Pokemon each game would make the national Dex unsustainable long term. If they had made the choice to restrict it back then I imagine it would have been taken better, and people wouldn't be quite so attached to using their favorites in every game now

I would put money on all of the starters being available once they are done with DLC and free updates to the game. They know people love the starters and Charizard, for example, is almost as much of a mascot as Pikachu these days.

Sounds like this
Reviews will likely be bad because it runs at around 20fps and has an art style that reviewers won't like imo
I don't know, I feel like reviews will be pretty good. I think that a lot of reviewers will be pleasantly surprised because it sounds like a lot of cool features were hidden until now. They will definitely ding the game for the technical aspects but I think it'll still do pretty well for a Pokemon game.
