I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy this in the first place but some of these new animations (evolution getting an upgrade!) are pulling me in hard.

Also, hooray for the Cyndaquil line finally showing the fire needles again rather then the lifeless 3D models of earlier games!
 
I know ~250 Pokémon might seem a little low to some, but I think the gameplay loop on this game will facilitate a lot of repeat capturing and catching of different sizes. So I understand why there are less Pokémon.

But like also…bring on some DLC please.

Yeah this game seems ripe for DLC focusing on some of the more underrepresented regions
 
after reading and watching all of these leaks…

Am I crazy or is there A LOT of details that GameFreak kept hidden? Like I’m surprised at all of these new mechanics and gameplay elements being shown. I’m shocked that they were so secretive about so much…

A lot of this stuff is just kinda weird to keep hidden, like the first person mode? That's just a neat thing that's pretty easy to show off and doesn't feel like something you'd need to keep under wraps.

Then again I guess the 360 video that was put up and then removed was intended to be a reveal of the first person mode, but it really didn't make that clear (and I don't think is officially up again yet)

I love having a smaller amount of Pokemon tbh. I want to catch them all, ya know, and having a smaller Pokedex makes that goal tenable, imo. That's why I wasn't exactly upset about the smaller pokedex in Sw/Sh. It was the first time in so many years I completed the dex. I understood why people were upset and they are valid but there are just so many Pokemon. It has to be impossible for new regions/new gens to have every single pokemon available to catch in game without some DLC or weird monotonous thing in game.

I actually think that'll be the Pokemon thing this fall/winter. It just makes more sense than a new Let's Go game I feel.

Not yet, but here's what I remember so far:
  • First person mode
  • 2 v 1 battles (first time hearing about it in this game, not first in the series)
  • Trainer battles confirmed
  • New status/weather effects
  • You can run around during battles
  • Main character is a time traveler
 
This is looking dope. Wasn't fully convinced to even buy it and was going to wait for the reviews, but phew, day one now!

I feel like this legitimizes my whining about the style of the renders. I can actually tell here that it has mud over its body, and the colour is more clearly grey rather than brown.

Yeah that’s what I was saying earlier too. They really hid a lot from us and I’m more impressed?? I think GameFreak outfoxed me!
 
This seems like the first mostly positive leak season in ages?

I mean people aren't super hot on some of the designs, bit everyone seems excited about story, gameplay additions, etc.

Certainly seems that way, though people are definitely less hot on the designs than the ones from SwSh at least. Gameplay changes though have gone over much better
 
Pokemon designs from swsh are imo some of the best in the series & the hisui designs definitely pale on comparison so far but I still don't think they're all too bad. It's a little hard & unfair to judge based on those static renders

I'm not sure. These images were dug out of the game files I believe (probably used for a tutorial page), so we haven't seen the mechanic used yet. It does look like it can be used anywhere, though, as I don't see anything distinctive on the rock face that Sneasler is scaling here, but we may be missing something.
