Honestly, game needs more Gen 1 Pokemon. That generation never gets enough attention. Should delete the Gen 3 and Gen 5 Pokemon to make more room for Gen 1.

A lot of the post-reveal discussion was fairly cynical, unfortunately. We didn't see much and people seemed to fill in the blanks with the worst-case scenario
 
Oh fuck yeah, the lack of Unova references is making me 100% feel that we'll get an original dragon-based follow-up to this in a few years. I'm all about that, and getting way ahead of myself with hype..
 
Say what you will about the graphics, but this overall package looks like a legitimate effort from Game Freak. Give credit where credit is due.

Reading this thread with the intellectual curiosity of someone who really wasn't going to get Legends and now thinking... should I maybe reconsider??

Probably not at launch, because of other games, but there seems to be some positive buzz developing now people have the actual game. Hoping this one's a triumph for Game Freak and the series.
 
Definitely looks like they are using Legends as a testing area to try out new mechanics and changes to systems. Maybe if they are well liked then they'll make it into the next generation of the series. I know some people will be disappointed by the lack of competitive multiplayer but single player only environments can really allow devs to be more experimental and not have to worry as much about making it competitively balanced.

I'm so freakin curious about the reviews at this point

Edit: I've seen a bunch of stuff on Twitter, and... I'm impressed? I'd be very happy if Gamefreak finally cooked up something GOOD.

I have been following a few twitter accounts since yesterday and the more I see the more I am reconsidering as well. For most of the region specific mons, I am not a fan of the designs. Also no multiplayer feels like a miss. Maybe it gets added later? I will still wait on reviews and more people to have it in hand.

This can't disappoint me anymore. Im now 100% convinced this game will be amazing.

Hopefully also a turning point for the franchise in general.

These leaks have been warming my cynical heart lol. Don't like a lot of the new Pokemon designs (did James Turner not return for the art direction for this game?) and I still have major issues with Pokemon's whole production pipeline but at the very least they actually seem to be trying their best within the limited framework of time and money they've been given for this project to push forward and make some big swings. Even if this game turns out messy or I don't love it I at least have a lot more faith in the future of the series now that it actually does feel like they're not playing it safe.
 
didn't read rest of the thread because trying to reserve some stuff, but same a bunch of the new mons including the new third evo for the starters...

samurott = didnt change enough, not that interesting
decidueye = HUGE improvement, oh my god, looks actually usable
typhlosion = holy shit, he looks amazing, i am in love with this design

first gen in a long time ill be picking fire first

Yeah, as much as I thought Sword and Shield was pretty mediocre, I loved the designs for the new Pokemon. These guys just seem... dull. I don't know if it's because they were going for a sort of "old world" feel but the only ones I really like are Zorua and Zoroark.

Why does Gamefreak keep ruining Typhlosion with every new opportunity they have?
 
Hoooo boy, I did not expect them to make THIS many improvements to the formula, and I was always the optimistic one.

I genuinely hope they build on this as the starting point for Gen 9 and beyond. There is so much potential here.
 
I was a big fan of the Hisuian forms already revealed, but the rest of these are definitely a mixed bag for me. Torn on how I feel on a lot of them, but at least they're interesting. The quality of life changes like the movepool thing is huge and seeing all of your Pokemon together with you in the overworld is wild to see. Very tempted to just pull the trigger and preorder because the game truly looks stunning.

I'm quite torn on the starter. I agree that Samurott doesn't have a very interesting design, plus I just used Empoleon for BD so I wanna use someone else. I was thinking Decidueye as I never go grass and quite like his design, but Grass/Fighting is less interesting than Grass/Ghost especially since Liligant has the same typing. And I also don't want to go with Typhlosion as I just used it for a recent HeartGold run and also I used Cinderace in SwSh. I don't know what to do!

Not sure if these bits of info have come up in this thread yet:
  • Anomalies in space-time can appear like storms on the map, littering the floor with items (shards) and causing large groups of Pokémon to spawn. This might actually be how to catch Pokémon like Porygon.
  • Locations list.
  • Ursaluna is a ride Pokémon you fight to unlock in the story. It's your Item Finder replacement. It can stand on its hind legs when it attacks.
  • Gastly joins the list of remodelled Pokémon. They redrew the smog around it to look like a purple flame, and the animation looks more natural. Video here, but poor quality stream. Looks great, though. (And on that note, some Ghost-types can teleport around the field to get the jump on you if you try to sneak up on them, which is very cool.)

I don't watch the Pokemon anime but the fact that this game has time travel, isn't that a good excuse to incorporate the Legends storyline into the show? Like I said, I don't watch the anime so I don't know where it is at in the story and I don't know if they even hinted at Legends stuff. Could make for a good basis for a movie as well.

Iirc they're doing a Legends tie-in but I don't think it involves time travel

I really wasn't sold on this game, but the leaks show me that it looks a LOT better than expected. Hesitantly excited now.
 
I knew that Typhlosion was gonna be a bit of Greninja situation. Always gotta see these things in action.
