News IndieWorld Showcase on 4/17 at 7am PT/16:00 CEST, roughly 20 minutes long

SteamWorld: Build was released in December, and SteamWorld: Headhunter which serves as a direct sequel to Dig 2 still needs to be dated and given platforms. I could see it making an appearance
I had no idea about this game. I was kinda hoping they'd make a sequel to Heist, but I'll take something in the vein of Dig too.

The teaser trailer flew under the radar, but it's been over two years now since it was first announced and there have been no further details since while they focused on Build.

Who knows what it's even supposed to play like, but a move to a character-controller 3D space is a big leap for any studio and given their success in past genres I feel they're gonna find a way to stick the landing

I might have watched that trailer. Some stuff in there made some bells ring in my head.

And hey, those bots had guns, so maybe it'll have a bit of Heist in it.

Those who kickstarted the game and were promised a Hornet campaign have a right to be somewhat annoyed at how long this has taken. Those people funded the original back in November-December of 2014.
I can understand that much, but it doesn't excuse a lot of the specific behavior, especially as it extends well beyond the original backers.

I could see that new Prince of Persia Roguelite appearing... although it was just at the Tripple I thing, iirc?

Not to rain on people’s parades, but I just checked the latest backer update on Mina (was in March) since I haven’t been keeping up with that one. I wouldn’t expect anything more than a trailer saying “yes we’re still alive”. They’re a good ways off from having a public demo build.

Indie games I’d love to see crop up at Indie World:

Hazelnut Bastille
Mandragora (due this year)
Sacrifire (due this year)
Crowsworn
Hunt the Night (this feels like the Switch port must be getting close to being finished)
Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients
Gestalt steam and cinder
Blade chimera (this also feels fairly close at this point)

What I’d really love is just confirmation that a Switch port of Wandering Sword is coming up though.

Mina the Hollower I don’t think we’ll see but I’m happy to wait for it- it looks amazing.

if it's even half as good as the partner showcase was we shall be eatin

Honestly don't think games like Hades 2 or Silksong would even be in the conversation for any kind of indie direct announcement. They're possibly the two most hyped releases of the year - they'll get a much bigger spotlight when the time comes.

Would love to see a localization of Mameda No Bakeru get announced here but not sure if that would really be considered Indie and I'm assuming we just aren't going to get that game in the west unfortunately.

Have they even said there’s DLC in the works?

Only thing I’ve seen talked about is an upcoming patch:

For recent interviews the developer gave, he said he didn't have any plannings yet but future DLC was a possibility. So, it doesn't look like it will be soon.

i mean the only reason Silksong is in the conversation is because of the recent ratings board stuff.

And while less likely, Hades 2 is supposed to see something this quarter and there is a "technical test" incoming. So it is not unreasonable to predict one or both of the games showing up.

Hooray, another Indie World!

As cool as updates to games we know about are, or as interesting as a sequel or follow up project announcement can be, the most exciting things from an Indie World are when I learn about something cool that I've never heard of before. Perhaps that's on me from not being plugged into the PC indie scene, but even so, I look forward to the novelty, to the next fresh thing from indies. Here's hoping for a good show!

does MS have marketing rights to Silksong?
The thing is that we don’t know, the only evidence would be the day 1 game pass deal that team cherry signed, but the only reason I can maybe see Nintendo have some role in marketing is that the trailer was first revealed in Nintendo YouTube channel, they even had the tree house special.

no

this is not a thing

everyone around here says it every five minutes but I can assure you that it’s literally not real

I mean they announced what it turned into: a full sequel, that started development in late 2018, after all the other stretch goal content updates. they gave you the update, explained why it would take time.

then they showed everyone that it already looked amazing and everyone lost their perception of the kind of time games take to build, especially for a tiny studio.

Nintendo definitely exacerbated the problem by having their standard no-release-date text set to “Coming Soon”

there has literally been news every single year since then whether you liked it or not, and the trajectory was pretty apparent in those things.

I’m a massive Hollow Knight fan but the manic chaos and vitriol is absolutely unhinged and frustrating

like it’s fun when we’re making jokes in our own little silos but all the people crowding out other conversations or sending literal threats to Team Cherry need to get their shit together and cool it the fuck down

Funny enough, Supergiant Games has finally opened up the Hades II Technical Test for requesting access. It's not Switch but it bolds well for it releasing later this year possibly.

Hoping for cool, fresh, new games

But expecting deck building roguelikes; cute farming games about witches, frog, and cats; and side scrolling action games with overly pixelated looks based on what was cool on the Mega Drive in the 90s

Why not? They are indies after all, everyone would expect an indie game at an indies Direct.

That’s highly doubtful. This is to kick the tires on a technical level before they start the Early Access which is going to be focused on gameplay and design.

I would expect a Q3/Q4 2025 public release at the absolute earliest. I expect they’ll hit their Q2 2024 early access launch though.

I wouldn't exactly be surprised if Silksong showed up with all the ratings popping up, I mean, they had a couple announcements that were published by Xbox in past Indie Worlds and Team Cherry is definitely more indie than that, but I hope people don't get disappointed that it'll probably be a lot of indie games from studios that don't usually get a huge spotlight, if it yet again doesn't show up.

Hoping Antonblast and Rift of the Necrodancer show up, it'd be nice to get release dates beyond a simple "2024"

Silksong waiting this long and showing up here and not in another month or two at the Microsoft show or a Direct would be weird

not at all. it's not like team cherry needs more hype or exposure for the game, the hype is already at the boiling point. they could just tweet that the game is out right now and it would have the same effect, they don't need a major direct or xbox showcase to release the game. if anything i can see ms and nintendo not wanting that because it would overshadow other announcements they want to highlight.

Yeah after thinking about it that does make more sense. Plus I think Hades didn't reach 1.0 for over a year too, so if they're approaching this one in the exact same way then 2025 would be more reasonable.

Guess I was too excited with the Hades 2 technical test announcement lol.

Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru ~Oracle Matsuri Tarou no Matsuri Nan!! (or Mameda no Bakeru aka Good Feel's Geomon spiritual successor) got a new update, 1.3.0, that add a new stage and a few fixes.

I would love to see this game get an international release because the previous patch, while far form perfect, at least improved the framerate quite a lot.

I stopped following up on this title ages ago since it seemed like it was abandoned project. Has there been any recent updates that things are progressing again or actually reaching close to the end of development?

The dev has been posting screenshots on Twitter pretty recently.
