If Nintendo is planning on releasing both games by June, then they must have a lot of other software lined up for the second half of 2024.
I don’t see this correlation tbh, a nearly-empty second half before Switch 2 could happen, especially if the delay was quite spontaneous

LEGO are doing their own Mario Day stream on the 9th, let's spend the next few days deciding if this means Nintendo is definitely doing something big enough they wouldn't need LEGO in a Direct Mini, or nothing because why else would LEGO be doing it alone?

I hope they have a Lego Mario set that isn't in the almost Duplo style. More stuff like the Piranha Plant would be nice, or even something more standard with minifigs and such. I'd absolutely be down for more DK stuff if it didn't look like... that. Branching into other Mario side series like Wario would be really cool though.

I'm guessing TTYD will release in late May and Luigi's Mansion 2 will release in July. I wonder how this affects the rumored April Direct though?

If the second half of 2024 was more barren because of the Switch 2 delay (which I do not doubt has happened to some degree), then wouldn't Nintendo try to shift at least one of these titles to later in the year to try and spread things out a bit more?

People (me included to be fair) were saying that last year too, though. "Nintendo wouldn't be stuffing their H1 like this if they weren't cooking something special for H2," and then their H2 was a fairly standard formula of major holiday title (Mario), Pikmin, WarioWare, and Pokemon DLC. If LM and PM were both planned to release by May, the schedule may have been too fixed to delay.

H2 was special though? That's two major first party titles (Mario Wonder and Pikmin), three smaller titles (Warioware, Detective Pikachu, and F-Zero 99), and a major remake (Mario RPG). This year won't be the same level as that though.

This is it. Nintendo has it planned and this will finish out what we know is announced.

We’ll probably get the April direct.

So is the timeline April Direct -> September Direct

or more than likely we will see a June Direct in between them

You got me there, I have no idea why SMRPG and the others voided themselves from my memory

A new 2D Mario, Mario RPG remake, new Pikmin game, Waioware, Detective pikachu, DLC for Mario Kart and Pokémon, and F-Zero making its (not so grand but still really cool) return isn’t exciting?

It's a Mario Direct isn't it? I get the idea that it'll be a couple of Twitter drops, but it seems too perfect to show off TTYD HD, LM2, Peach reminder and maybe one or two other minor projects all at once. I don't think we'll just get two trailers uploaded to Twitter for TTYD and LM2 in close proximity... more likely they'll be stitched together into a Direct

There were rumors of a Switch 2 reveal in June but I don't know if that's still on the table.

tbh, generally don't feel as if there's going to be an April Direct, purely on the basis of "when was the last April Direct again? Wasn't in the Switch era, was it?"

Feel as if we're getting Twitter drops sometime soon for both TTYD and Luigi's Mansion 2 (with both having summer release dates), and we get an announcement and a Direct for the Swucc sometime in June, if not before.

Completely unrelated but "The Swucc" might be the worst shortening of anything I have ever heard

Most recent "true" April direct (as in, not a Smash character or indie world) seems to have actually been in 2017. 3DS and Switch games "focused mainly on Splatoon 2 and ARMS"

so just barely in the Switch era

I'd love a Mario focused Direct for MAR10 day that reveals the dates for LM 2 HD, TTYD and goes on to reveal a Mario Party game releasing in October, the next Donkey Kong game coming this fall and tease the next gen Mario game for 2025 but of course that's not going to happen so I'll go with the absolute most optimistic prediction that's possible and say dates for LM2HD(July) and TTYD(April or June), Princess Peach Showtime overview trailer, eShop deals and maybe(not happening) Nintendo Selects starting with Odyssey, 3D World, Maker 2 and NSMBU DX.

Will a LEGO Super Mario game, which is the thing that makes so much sense that we all thought should've happened by now or will never happen, finally be announced??

I mean how often LEGO does streams announced days in advance to announce toy sets?

LEGO did it last year as well for MAR10 Day, so it could just be more LEGO set announcements.

Revealed sets

The Lego set better be a Reznor ferris wheel
This already exists.

Honestly with the teaser being someone barging their way in with a crash noise, I think it'll be someone they (somehow) haven't done at all. My bet is on Wario expansions, like how last time they revealed DKC stuff.

As much as I'm happy about TTYD remake, I can't help but feel like a basic remaster would have been sufficient and they could have made a sequel instead idk. Even if some of the game was spent visiting old areas. Its a lot of effort for a game that visually holds up well. That's modern remakes for you though.

If Mario party really is our only holiday game, a direct is possible. Paper Mario, LM2, Mario Party, and peach showtime would be sufficient for a direct alongside some merch

I'm starting to warm up to replaying these two games. It's been quite a while... and TTYD looks beautiful.

Am I the only one who interprets the tweet as a wish and absolutely not as an allusion?
If Pyoro didn’t post those tweets with the intention of teasing something, they would have clarified that as soon as people started assuming they were. The bird seems to care a good bit about maintaining credibility, going by their very clear disclaimers surrounding the (incorrect) Pokémon Day info they heard.

If we do get a Mario Mini (which I think we will), it'll probably be 10 minutes with a Princess Peach Showtime demo, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, and Mario Wonder DLC. No new game announcements, but if we do get one it'll be the return of 3D All-Stars.

I think they could announce Mario Movie sequel here. Probably not getting more than a tentative logo and a quick word from Shiggy, but I'm sure it's been worked on since last year.

Yeah they usually will say “this is not a leak” or something along those lines to make things a bit more clear

I have never understood why they have slept on a Mario lego game and I mean proper lego Mario with Mario lego amiibos etc etc etc. they are crazy! Please hurry up and do it lol

It's only a matter of time IMO. Wonder if that's what the Skywalker Saga team is working on now?

I've brought it up for each prediction I've made about Nintendo for this year but, if we do get a Mario series Direct this week, it's probably the last place I could see a Paris Olympics Mario and Sonic game showing up, which I feel like would help to flesh out a Direct a little, especially a Mario one? I guess it could show up if they do an April Direct but I feel like that would have to be a quick announcement to release timeline to release before the Olympics so I'm not sure if they'd do it haha. I'm just rambling here but I've been thinking about what the contents of a Direct/Direct Mini for the Mario series could have today haha

I think Mario and Sonic Olympics as a series is pretty much dead after what happened with the last one (the Olympics got cancelled). Sega has another Olympic games series and they'll continue using that instead.

I think the rumours were they were making a new version of magical wizard IP similar to Skywalker Saga?

I’m not overly sure what a Lego Mario would consist of that would make it different to anything Nintendo puts out. Surely it would just be another 3D platformer in a Lego skin?

3D Mario Maker with a Lego artstyle is my guess.

Oh yeah, I believe so too. I have been holding out hope just because I think the games were fun but, yeah, I agree. Would be a nice surprise if it does show up again one day though! :)

Considering it's Pyoro, I'll be surprised if we don't have the news by Thursday.
Unless they really want to go full Mar10 despite being a Sunday.
But I honestly lean towards today to Thursday.

It's possible that we'll have a Mini Mario Direct, but I don't think we will. If Nintendo don't have a new Mario game, they'll do a twitter.

On the other hand, by communicating on the two remaining known games, the Nintendo Direct General in April (If it's still planned) will leave more room for new announcements ! :)

I just think it's weird how they're apparently announcing both at the same time. Why not just one? Princess Peach is supposed to get a demo too IIRC.

I don't think it'll be Wario yet. Like, if you heard any "they're totally cancelling the Mario theme" chatter from supposed leakers over the last year, that was just because they had access to the info that the three starter sets are finally retiring, but we're now confident that they'll be replaced with new, slightly smaller starter sets for the trio straight away. One of the big sets is rumoured to be a Bowser Train (from 3D World I guess?)

They did Luigi's Mansion and DKC stuff. I think expanding to the series that started out as Mario Land 3 makes sense honestly, and at least contextually with the video teaser it'd make more sense with the video than Yoshi's Island, which basically entirely has characters/enemies that are available in other sets. I don't really keep up with Lego leaks, I just think making some Wario stuff like they did with DK, not necessarily a new "playable" character but still a group of sets with slightly different branding that would fit with the others, makes sense.
...and maybe that's just cause I want to see anything Wario Land related again, even if I do not actually care for Lego Mario's aesthetic.

Really I just want to see when they announce the Lego Zelda sets cause that's all that I know that's been leaked that I care about.

If PM ends up releasing before summer that will make me excited for something good releasing in fall

Remember that there was a shadowdropped Mario Direct sometime in 2020. This could be similar to that. I doubt it, I think it will be Twitter drops. Just throwing out the possibility, though.
