So a Partner Showcase with the following:
  • Dropped the Mini branding
  • Announced beforehand, although this isn't new
    • Announced over 24 hours beforehand. This is new.
  • Specifying it's from publishing AND development partners, not just "third party games".

what are they cooking?

Rear Sekai localization, Fantasy Life date, maybe a concrete look at one of the Rune Factory East and West games. Also, Story of Seasons.

Those are things I’d like to see outside of that I have no major wants or expectations.

I'm willing to bet this time it's different. Mostly because one Nintendo published game got leaked already.
You referring to Endless Ocean? Eh, I think that rides the line close enough to where most people wouldn't bat an eye at that showing up in a Partner. It was developed by Arika as a spiritual successor to an old PS2 game they made and it happened to be published by Nintendo.

Edit for possible spoilers since I see this thread is now supposed to be spoiler-free.

We expect only Pentiment to make appearance. Sea of Thieves is either cloud based on Switch or PS5 only. Too early for Hi-fi Rush. Pentiment is not big enough to be the closer.

ah okay I was thinking maybe there'd be an announcement with multiple of them at once as the closer or something

I had very low expectations for this Direct. However, when I saw that it was going to last 25 minutes, it has raised my expectations a bit. We are probably looking at around 12-15 games announced during this Direct. It's not an Indie Direct, so I would think we are looking at quite a few games releasing from bigger publishers.

Pretty big news! Crazy that just the first half of the year alone is so busy.

Personally I'm hoping for Persona 3 Reload Portable, exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

first half only? can't wait to see what everyone is cooking with a soon release date!
This is the really cool thing to me. I'm excited to take punts on pre-orders for a bunch of games purely because they're soooooooooonnn

Shrug I've seen some fun stuff in partner directs, so I can roll with it, we've gotten some rad spin-offs and collab games in these. Good spot for a warriors game.

Hopefully at least one big game. I have no games I’m planning on buying for switch this year. I was fine with that as I thought I had the switch 2 to look forward to. I am not going to be happy if all they have are ports and remasters.

I’m having trouble predicting a new game from third parties that would be new and exciting that could come out soon. Maybe mega man 12 or X 11? That would be exciting.

Bet. The last partner direct was about 26 minutes long and had some cool announcements, so will keep an open mind for what will be shown!

The fact that they dropped the "Mini" moniker is really strange.

It's about the same length as the Mini Partner Showcase in June 2022 (which came in at 26:05). So it couldn't be dropping "Mini" due to being a long Direct (the "long" ones are usually around 40 minutes).

In terms of the "size" of the game announcements, while this is subjective, I highly doubt the announcements here will be "bigger" than what we got in the June 2022 Mini Partner Showcase:

So, IMO, dropping the "Mini" branding is just bad idea, it sets people up for disappointment.

Man I hope that Pyoro hint is not Endless ocean. Nintendo is literally doing everything they can for me to hate their first party offerings (fitness Wario to Paper Mario) and Endless Ocean could be another. One of my worst purchases on Wii, it was no game at all, just fun little app for younger children. It won't look good especially now, with all the high quality underwater games around, ABZÛ or Subnautica.

Just remaster more overlooked stuff won't ya? Codename STEAM is over there waiting its turn.

Man, if this Partner has the next Grasshopper game I wouldn't be able to contain my excitement. It's been 3 years since No More Heroes 3, and Suda's not cooked up a fully designer/director original IP since NMH1. I'm not expecting it here but I hope we see it soon since they vaguely teased the game last year in their Grasshopper Direct.

I doubt it is, but Endless Ocean is really held back by the 7th Gen underwater filter. It would really benefit by a modern remake for that reason alone.

Does this normally happen for Partner Showcases?

Some kid is gonna pull up the Direct on their phone, scroll through the on-demand video to grab the titles, and shriek them out loud to spoil everyone else until they're wrestled to the ground and thrown out of the store.

Can I delete a post

It's going to motherfucking ROCK. Nintendo would not put up a Partner Showcase instead of a proper Direct if they weren't powering up a Spirit Bomb to BLOW. YOUR. MIND. S. in H2 2024

So many bad opinions in one post lol.

Joking aside though, a new Endless Ocean is something I have been hoping for for a long time. It would be the game of the show for me.

Is it? I can't keep a track on the public opinions on games, honestly. Thought we were hating Endless Ocean? Now we love it?

Still, I never was a fan of "Touch Generations" stuff Nintendo made that era. Non-games is not an area I was interested in but took a shot with the first Endless Ocean game. Ended up not liking it, naturally.

I'm with you, dude. Not really interested in non-games or "chill" games. I want some action. I want something to make me think. I want something to challenge me.

Bout time for a new warriors. Also the wording makes it sound like we could get some collab and partnered games. Also sounds like Intelligent Systems could show up.

Inb4 Sega has been recruited to make a new F-Zero.
