Discussion VGC sources say Embracer CEO has privately said Free Radicals (Timesplitters) will be shut down before Christmas

artists are currently posting their concept art for the cancelled Timesplitters game 
not really a fan of people using it as a archival site, but the full collection of found artworks is on a Fandom wiki.
Embracer made various jokes suggesting they would evenually do an updated standalone release. but it seems unlikely to happen at this point.

a HD remaster of Timesplitters 2 existed internally all the way back before the original Free Radical was even merged with Crytek. a demo of sorts for it was randomly thrown in Homefront: The Revolution, with cheats eventually being discovered that unlocked the whole game.

If I understand right, their apparent endgame was to sell to Saudi Arabia. And then the Saudi Investment Fund backed out of the deal at the last minute.
Embracer was only built up to the size it became to sell, and then they were left holding the bag when the deal collapsed. Peak idiocy.

Since the news started of Embracer laying people off, I've been wondering if Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony plan on snapping up any development talent. Just way to much talent to be in limbo from a mismanaged parent company...Could Nintendo save this studio and game for us as a christmas present…? Incredible pipe dream I know.

Embracer coming apart at the seams unfortunately does not mean that there are any companies willing and able to put up the money to buy up an entire studio and operate it themselves.
Embracer got into this mess because they kept buying studio after studio without taking into account the long-term operating costs.

Nintendo of all the companies wouldn't do that. They have very specifically addressed that are only buy studios close to their culture. If you look at their past acquisitions they buy studios they have worked with already.Could Nintendo save this studio and game for us as a christmas present…? Incredible pipe dream I know.

True but Microsoft are already working with Crystal Dynamics, so you just think there would be some working relationship there.
Saber early on in the Switch's life were the port masters In getting the most out of the hardware and not that Nintendo are that company for doing such, but moving on to more powerful hardware in Switch 2, they will to expand their development efforts regardless of how that comes about.
Just so happens in this case a company has bitten off more than they can chew and someone on the other end will gain from this misfortune.

Feels like these off-shoot studios that leave Nintendo like the Metroid Prime guys don't have a lot of success in the long term.

Welp, looks like I'm getting the original trilogy on PS2 again since this franchise will never see the light of day for another 15-20 years. It's too good to have been done dirty so many times. I can't stand this industry anymore. Outside of Nintendo and a few others they simply refuse to make games that I like anymore
