They're only allowed to call it Super Nintendo Switch if the new controllers have coloured face buttons.
Even then i'd prefer the coloured face buttons with a better name.
Americans; infamously known for their hatred of fun and colour, amirite? I'm glad they gave us the real goods over here when it came to the SNES Mini and SNES NSO controller. Also the regular New 3DS!
Allocation of resources. Teams that are working on Switch games are teams that aren't available to work on the graphical showcase games that justify new hardware.
Why wouldn’t/couldn’t a Nintendo game released in 2025/2026 still run on the Lite and OLED Switch?
Every DLSS Switch Nintendo game is still going to have to target 540p-720p rendering gaming profiles.
If this is a "Switch Pro," it could. If this is a "Switch 2," it would be like running a PS4 game on a PS3- powered system.
TBH, I'm ready. I've saved up and I'm feeling like I need some new tech in my home ^^... I'm only scared about transferring my data (ACNH-Island).It's coming late 2020, early 2021 as reports have always suggested.
Nate, Bloomberg, Grubb, I believe Nikkei also said this.
To be fair, Nate said that launch window is from late 2022. to 1H 2023, and Grubb recently said that he dont expect it before 2024,
also Nikkei wasnt most accurate when comes to time of release.
Tbh, I don't think Grubb knows a great deal about this. Nate and Mochi are the only ones with direct sources. Both were informed that exclusive games are coming for a "pro" version soon and Mochi even doubled down on this recently by saying they're coming this fall. Don't forget Totilo's RDR2 for Pro rumor. To be fair, Nate said that launch window is from late 2022. to 1H 2023, and Grubb recently said that he dont expect it before 2024,

Whenever this comes out I hope it's Switch 2, that they don't feel the need to make new games support OG Switch, but that Switch 2 is backwards compatible.
I don't believe in any insider predictions on timeframe, because we've seen again and again how changeable dates are, or that insiders were just plain wrong.
That's totally fine, my hope is just that cross-gen won't be mandatory for all gamesUntil new Switch hardware get released, there will be at least 110-120m users of current models with point that some of current models will continue selling,
so its quite safe to say that 90% of new games will be cross gen at least for 2 years, even Sony is doing that.
I acknowledged what Nate has said about it possibly slipping to 2023, yes. Grubb doesn't expect it before 2024, but he still reported that he heard it was planned for 2022. Just that he doesn't necessarily believe it.To be fair, Nate said that launch window is from late 2022. to 1H 2023, and Grubb recently said that he dont expect it before 2024,

NOPE!i really hope its not this year tbh. switch still looks good

When has Nikkei been inaccurate?
Here. He avoided mentioning "Pro" as it blew when OLED was revealed last year:In that case people should not mention Grubb like source for release period, especially because recently he said he now belives it will not be launched before 2024.
And Nate said that last hardware release plan he heard was from end of this year into 1H of 2023. while devs were told earlier to aim end of 2022. with exclusive games.
When Mochi double down his claims, do you have maybe link?
Mochi said the same thing last year but claimed that they target the Pro version. It seems these games are delayed to 2022 along with Pro.and more than 10 outside developers told Bloomberg News last year that they are preparing major games for the five-year-old platform this year.
I didn't phrase it like they only said 2022, just that all of those sources last reported hearing 2022 was the plan. Which is accurate.Well your hole post was sounding like all those sources saying only 2022.
Point that Grubb now thinks that will not be released before 2024. tells a lot, because before that he was saying 2022.
Talking about Nikke, talking about those pre pre-OLED launch rumors from them.
That's what I've been wondering. This device will contain an Ampere GPU, but Nvidia is releasing the Lovelace GPUs this year. 2024 will presumably have another new architecture.
This thing will be outdated (for a new device) if it releases in 2024.
If they're about to charge $450USD for this system without an OLED screen Imma riotPlace your bets now, OLED screen or nah?
It won't be 2023. It's either this year or 2024 IMO, it makes no sense to release it next year unless BOTW2 gets delayed. All the big hitters are coming this year.i really hope its not this year tbh. switch still looks good and just got an oled.
i mean i'll probably buy it if it happens, i hope it's 2023 though.
fine then 2024 sounds perfect tbh.It won't be 2023. It's either this year or 2024 IMO, it makes no sense to release it next year unless BOTW2 gets delayed. All the big hitters are coming this year.

I don't remember Nikkei being wrong on any pre-OLED rumors, you might be thinking of Bloomberg.
I've seen the "outdated" take a few times and I never understand it. Does it matter if the tech is outdated if the games are good/look good with art designs that work for the hardware? The same "outdated" tech the Switch launched with runs some wonderful-looking games even 5 years later. That's what I've been wondering. This device will contain an Ampere GPU, but Nvidia is releasing the Lovelace GPUs this year. 2024 will presumably have another new architecture.

And the current rumors do say it's planned for late 2022... all of the current rumors say that's the plan. And there's a chance it can slip to 2023, but the plan is late 2022.You wrote: "FYI the current rumors say it's planned for late 2022", and on question "What rumors would these be?", you wrote "Nate, Bloomberg, Grubb, I believe Nikkei also said this".
So you mention only 2022.
Yeah, I probable meant Bloomberg.

I fail to see where I misled anyone.
He's referring to what he previously said, which is that it's planned for late 2022 with the chance to slip into early 2023.Nate yesterday:
"I mean, expectations based on a Bloomberg report citing sources and me hearing devs are targeting games for Switch 4K/DLSS by late 2022/early 2023 could certainly be considered "rumor" in some circles.
And before anyone asks: no, I haven't heard anything new. Everything remains as it did several months ago. Dev kits are out, software is in active development, and late 2022/early 2023 remains the window."
He's referring to what he previously said, which is that it's planned for late 2022 with the chance to slip into early 2023.
Nintendo will not want to miss the holiday season if they can avoid doing so. Late 2022 is very clearly plan A here.
This is a silly debate.
I don't believe anything is set in stone, and I never suggested it was. Rumors are rumors, they can be and often are incorrect. I'm simply summarizing what the most recent rumors about the timing of this thing say.I mean he just said that window he heard is late 2022/early 2023.
But you are right, this silly debate, I just dont like when you act like 2022. launch is set in stone,
you were also very sure about 8nm, and now its more possible that we dont talk about 8nm any more..
Your logic is sound. It is a hard fact that switch pro will release on my birthday and Reggie will hand deliver one directly to me along with a copy of Yakuza 0 Definitive Edition which includes a new scene where Kiryu and Majima team up with Mario to defeat Bowser
Prove me wrong
Better than New Nintendo Switch.Super Nintendo Switch is too good to be true. They are just going to call it Nintendo Switch 4K and call it a day
I'd say that even Nintendo SwitchiU sounds better than thatBetter than New Nintendo Switch.
If a Switch Pro doesn't have an OLED screen I likely wouldn't buy it. OLED on Switch is amazing. It added new life to the system for me.The system needs to have an oled Screen. It wouldn't be proper for the new system to be a downgrade from the current option in such an important aspect.
They can call it dogs*** and I’ll buy itSuper Nintendo Switch is too good to be true. They are just going to call it Nintendo Switch 4K and call it a day
We actually got that too, colors and all. It was just not too common for whatever reason. Also the regular New 3DS!
