Literally all I care about at this stage is if it is backward compatible and digital purchases carry over.
I would be happy with 3 more years of the Switch ecosystem. Hopefully, this is halfway between a new console generation shift and a revision.
Something like what phones and tablets do.
Just think of what will be the reaction of GENERAL customers, not just fans, when its : no, its backwards compatible, but you have to buy your games again. In a world where people take theyr purchases between platforms and generations all the time.
(Sony, XBox, Apple, Android)
And heres the reason why nintendo would care: it would essentially kill the interest in digital games.
Digital is way more profitable then physical (same price, better controll over resale and sales, no production/transortation/storage cost, no reseller cut, reaching with full diversity to rural markets and areas where there are no resellers, impulse buying...). They would lose a ton of money and goodwill,
and it would reduce their software sales in the long run by a lot. This would also strain
connections to other publishers, since those would also lose on digital sales because of that.
So yeah, no chance that they move on without letting you take your software with you.
