So I finally got around to getting a Bluetooth controller to slip my phone into and, wow, it's been great going back to and replaying older games. Even GC games hold up well at 1080p, even if it's not quite perfect, just 90% or so of the way there. Might be going back to more old games more often

Hitman is the best. I spent two hours playing a level. I failed pretty much every objective. I killed the target, and I don't know how; it says I poisoned her, but I never even set any poison traps. I had to shoot my way out of a jam because I'm an idiot. I couldn't figure out a puzzle at the end, so I looked it up. Then I rode off on a motorcycle while cool music played.

So, yeah, Hitman is great.

Shame to see that the Bayonetta 3 discourse online has become incredibly toxic already. The usual stuff for Bayonetta games (portbegging, Nintendo stealing our games, Nvidia leak hopium...) mixing with the tech side of things/typical Switch hardware complaining/Drake anticipation makes for a really unpleasant environment. Add in a pinch of good old console warring as per usual, and yeah, can't say I'm interested in talking about the game with people on the internet at all. 🤷

I'm... pretty sure most people here were agreeing with that? Talking about it as to how it affects discourse, not the content and creators themselves.

...what
Yeah, but most/many people agreeing on this hate trip doesn’t make it better?

Saying that Journalists „poison“ other people sounds like normal kind of language to you? For me it’s not, but maybe I‘m too sensitive. It’s not the Journalists job to always keep the good vibes and make discourse better. It can be a side effect and it’s appreciated but it’s not their responsibility. They should be critical, especially against larger corporations, and if you only want the „good ones“ (whatever that means, DF and Arlo apparently aren’t since so many here seem to detest them) on the internet then it would be dramatically one-sided.

Where did this happen, though?

One person clumsily expressed their dislike of DF. A small conversation happened, but the thread moved passed it quickly. You then posted saying you can't believe all the DF hate which, ironically, caused more conversation about DF than had happened in the first place. It was also quickly very clear that what users dislike isn't DF itself but rather the toxic and confrontational culture that springs up from it (which is absolutely no fault of the team at DF). With like 3 posts of the mention of DF, the conversation has already clarified that.

There was no hate trip, apart from one badly phrased post, and I'm not sure where you got the idea there is a "hate trip".

YEAH!

Seriously. I don't know how many of these IOI have sold but it's not enough. The Hitman trilogy is on the same level as (or close to) BOTW in terms of design genius. A very playful 'games as toys' approach; I'm sure Miyamoto loved these games if he had the chance to play them.

Hi everyone so the last game I bought was switch sports. Is there nothing else exciting coming before Christmas for switch? I really thought if switch is getting new model, either switch 2 or Pro model it Nintendo would of been advertising now.

BTW I used to follow Nintendo direct discussion or threads talking about new games possibly some info from Nate, Emily, where has thar gone? Or is there no thread for that now?
I am hoping that all this new Taito development going on we will get more bubble symphony, rainbow islands etc.

jesus christ why did nobody tell me baba is you is a programming game????
Surprise! Isn’t it lovely?

Started playing Baba Is You… Just a few levels and my mind’s already exploding lol.
Insert brain expansion meme here

The "eureka" moments are amazing later on but I can only take so much before I feel like my brain is turning into oatmeal and melting out my ears into a puddle on the floor.
I’m in the later worlds and it takes like a week of playing on-and-off to get through one level. But man do the eureka moments feel freaking good.

So, yeah, Hitman is great.
Imagine portable Hitman. Just imagine it. Yesss.

You should catch up on this year then if you haven’t gotten anything since Switch Sports! We’ve had a ton of excellent games since then like Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3, Mario and Rabbids 2, and Bayonetta 3. If you missed them, pick up Pokemon Legends Arceus and Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

If there are specific genres you like, people can recommend stuff. So much good stuff out there. Direct threads will return likely end of December, the community needs a break.

Yeah, I also took a look at which posts get „yeah“s etc, and many seem to be on the posters side, but whatever.
I remember those long-ass threads about why Arlo is such a bad YouTuber and I just don’t understand how this helps anyone

Anyone here watches Doctor Who? I just watched The Power of the Doctor, I wanted to compare opinions and this is the only forum I still use, sooo... yeah.

The whole thing was... okay. Which to be fair is more than can be said about most of the Chibnall era; it really sucks that Jodie Whittaker was, is and probably will be blamed for the low quality of the show these last series when the majority of the material she had to work with was simply too underwhelming to work.

Going back to the episode itself, I obviously loved all the callbacks to previous eras (just look at my avatar), even though it worries me quite a bit that my main enjoyment out of the episode was when it went "Hey, remember how things used to be?" It just doesn't sound like a healthy position for a TV show to be in.

And I have to say this. I fucking HATE this incarnation of the Master. No offense at all to Sacha Dhawan, but whoever decided to write his character as "the John Simm Master, BUT WHACKIER!!" just screwed everything up big time; the end result comes across as a cringey Joker ripoff and it just didn't work at all.

I liked the regeneration scene; less overblown than others, it fit this incarnation of the Doctor.

So yeah, end of an era; let's see what RTD 2.0 has to offer.

Imagine portable Hitman. Just imagine it. Yesss.

I'm still salty that the Hitman Blood Money/Absolution collection from a few years ago skipped Switch. Well, Absolution is... whatever, but portable Blood Money... that would have been nice.

But there was close to zero discussion along those lines, right? So it's not as if there was some problem in the thread? Even if somebody "yeahs" a post, that doesn't mean you need to try and confront that. It's simply the nature of the system that people are going to agree with things you disagree with.

For what it's worth, I dislike those kinds of pile ons too, but nothing comparable to that occurred here. If that does happen, it's better to ignore it; report it to the mods if you think there's a real problem; or move on when the original poster has clarified what they meant (which happened quickly in this case). Engage with what people actually say instead of seeing either them - or the Yeahs - as stand-ins for a discourse you dislike.

Anyway, I don't mean to have a go at you or derail the thread with this. It was a relatively innocent case of badly expressed frustration.

I see. Agreed!

I’ve been playing Signalis and it’s good. If you are even a small fan of old school ps1 era survival horror cop this game. Don’t even want to link a review just so you get the chance to go in as blindly as possible. The vibes in this game are immaculate. Here’s some gameplay.

Probably top 5 sandbox games of all time. I played on Series X and Switch via cloud because I wanted to support the game that badly.

How scary is it? I’ve been thinking of grabbing it on my Deck but I’m a massive wuss.

You might be thinking of somewhere else because I don't recall any long-threads calling out Arlo as bad here. The only long thread we have regarding youtubers is the Kit & Krysta one which is fairly positive.

Rather then jumping into accusations it'd be better if you read the discussion since no one was hating on DF.

So far the only negative comments I've seen that actually reduced my enthusiasm for the game are the ones about there being no button remapping, and apparently the buttons are laid out opposite to what would feel natural to me and I think I wanna wait and see if they patch mapping in. 😅

The tech side of the talk is bleh. I proudly don't care. 😁

The world is so damn depressing and upsetting someone show me something happy and/or cute please
This is what I was picturing earlier when I talked about having a bun to @Mr_No_U's head:

If directs were uploaded as separate YT video trailers all at once, how many of them do you think you would still watch? Obviously it varies but I feel like I would average maybe 20%. I rarely even watch the twitter trailers

Probably same.
I follow a "Best Upcoming Indies" channel which is totally my jam but even on his compilation videos I'm usually fast-forwarding through like half.

Most of the fun of a Direct for me is the surprise of not knowing what's coming next. If they dump all the trailers on YouTube then not only do I know what to skip but it ruins the sorts of surprises that came from trailers like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, or Metroid Dread, or the fuckin Smash Ultimate reveal. It'd just kill it for me.

It is that kind of game! I hadn’t played for a few months, but then I was thinking about Halloween and thought, “Hey, you know who loves a good costume? Agent 47!”
There's a boss in Yooka-Laylee that is really interfering with my attempt to be a positive gamer.
Is Kartos involved? The boss in the casino level is when I soured a little more on the game.
