TV My Adventures with Superman |ST| Clark, Lois, and Jimmy's Wild Internship

We're still waiting on news about Season 2's release date, but in the meantime, we're getting a short comic series that bridges the gap between the seasons!

Per DC:
On June 4, DC is bringing the action and excitement of the hit animated series My Adventures with Superman to comic book fans in a new series. Written by series producer Josie Campbell and drawn by artist Pablo M. Collar, My Adventures with Superman picks up from the explosive end of season one, serving as a bridge to the highly anticipated season two.

“Being the producer of My Adventures with Superman and bringing Clark Kent to TV screens around the world has been nothing but a dream come true for me,” said Campbell. “So I’m absolutely thrilled that Pablo and I get to bring fans even more adventures with Superman, this time in comic book form!”

Clark Kent is a bit down and out, spending Christmas alone in Metropolis. But when he gets a tip about a monster in the sewers, Superman, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen spring into action to investigate this mystery. What is this monster that can absorb anything it touches, and why is it here in Metropolis?

“This story is one we actually talked about in the writers room, but we didn’t have space for it in season one,” continued Campbell. “So get ready for romance, comedy, super-powers, Jimmy Olsen talking a lot about how he’s super-rich now, and all the goodness of the show bundled into this action-packed miniseries.”

Teaser trailer for season 2! I love it when good shows get renewed.

Sounds like we're getting Supergirl already?

based on how the last season ended, looks like Zod. Saying humanity will kneel sounds like a Zod thing. I think theyd save Kara for later, after Clark is more established.

Yeah, last season indicated a Krypton related villain was being set up, leaving basically Zod or Brainiac, and everything is pointing to it being Zod, especially with this teaser. I’d honestly prefer they hadn’t, Zod is a “Superman but evil” villain, something they’ve already explored a bit and is overdone and not as interesting, while Braniac is something more unique.

Dang, when they meant "peek," they really did mean it.

Assuming what has been posted online about casting is to be believed, we do have someone lined up to play Supergirl in Season 2. Of course, without fuller confirmation, we can't take it as confirmed, but I wouldn't be shocked to see her given where the storyline is going.

As of the ending of Season 1, Clark is in a weird place when it comes to his Kryptonian heritage. He sees his people as ruthless invaders and himself as a tool sent to further that goal. Clark's anger at his father (held with partial information, mind you) and Clark destroying the mothership in the finale with the Kryptonite are two rejections of that heritage. But then we have the Jor-El hologram helping his son, speaking his language and hoping he lives. That doesn't line up with the picture Clark has painted in his head.

So the stage is set. Clark isn't fully sure what to make of his identity. An alien, a weapon, but also a protector, a hero. You bring in our antagonists as shown in the Season 1 ending teaser, Braniac and "General Zod", and that confirms Clark's worst fear. But you bring in Kara in the same storyline, a family member that has firsthand experience and who could speak to the positives and negatives, and things begin to come together. It feels like a strong way to tie the theme of Clark as an immigrant together, him being able to see the big picture and be able to build a much healthier connection with his heritage while also fighting the conquerer that represents the fears Clark has for himself.

...that being said, given that the voice actor for "General Zod" (credited as the Kryptonian warrior) is Kari Wahlgren (the same VA as Martha Kent), this might not exactly be the straightforward Zod story.

The easy way to bring in an evil Kyrptonian, Supergirl, continued themes of self and familial-discovery, and even a parallel with Lois's own personal story is to have the main antagonist not be Zod, but Zor-El, Clark's villain uncle and Kara's father. That's what I'm expecting. That also opens the path up for a heel-face turn for Kara.
