That would be a cool thing to pass the time. Famiboards Tournaments! It's been a slow, painful wait, huh? Maybe we should organize some races to help spend the time.

You can't get Tour on Switch. That's what matters. And I believe Tour tracks rotate in and out of the lineup, with 8DX are there all the time. Not sure what the strategy is with adding tracks to Tour that will be part of the 8DX pack, seems just wasteful? Like, they probably will get a bit of facelift (that won't make people stop whinning about visuals though), but you're devaluing the DLC that you want people to purchase.... since you can get that for free in Tour.
I thought it was a good opportunity to slow down on Tour and maybe just pump up characters, since they got that over 8DX.
the point of this is to share content between the two. tour is still ongoing, and the 8DX packs are them just backporting them with minimal upgradesNot sure what the strategy is with adding tracks to Tour that will be part of the 8DX pack, seems just wasteful? ...I don't quite have this view, it's not a chicken or the egg situation anymore, it just is flat out for both. Moving on...every dlc track comes from tour, even the ones released before in 8dx,the dlc only exists as a way to reuse tour assets, nothing gonna be tailor made for switch
I think the above explainations cover it well enough. Tour and 8DX are vastly different games; they play differently and the way you access the content is totally different. Tour going in on the new content this year and next year before being shut down in 2024 is exactly what I expected after the Booster Course Pass announcement, and that seems to be their strategy. Not sure what the strategy is with adding tracks to Tour that will be part of the 8DX pack, seems just wasteful? Welcome! Great time to join for sure!Okay, first post here. I'm reading the posts here since March, but I felt like now is the time to join the forums, after my big deadlines and just before the imminent Nintendo Direct.
I am extremely hyped for the Mario Kart DLC myself. I can't wait to find out some details about the second wave. I am especially interested in how they will "announce" track number eight. It isn't labeled and I think that track can't be Merry Mountain, since, well, it is summer. I thought the new track would come in the upcoming wave, but it doesn't seem like that. Interesting.
Okay, my predictions for DLC wave 2:
Tour London Loop
SNES Mario Circuit 1 (however I hope for another MC, this is purely for nostalgia sake and because it's on the banner, I'd love MC4 to make its debut)
N64 Kalimari Desert (I hope they will merge it with Kalimari Desert 2 from Tour, would be fun if they did)
DS Waluigi Pinball (either this or Airship Fortress I feel would be the only two worthy cup "closers" from the DS)
Tour Los Angeles Laps (already complete with the different versions; and I think they're going to save New York Minute until the Power Moon Cup)
GBA Cheep Cheep Island (it's either this or Sunset Wilds for now I think, and with Kalimari Desert in this predicted wave I think they'll go with CCI. If the N64 course is Koopa Troopa Beach, then the GBA course will be Sunset Wilds)
Wii DK Snowboard Cross (first of the snow courses; there are a lot in MKT so probably a lot in the DLC, feel like they need to be spread out)
Banner ice cream course??
I think there are two NES tracks ahead including Wave 2’s? I really want to see Choco Island 2 come back with the big mud lake. A Ghost Valley would be great too, but could be covered with one of the GBA courses like Boo Lake. I’d say Vanilla Lake since one hasn’t been remade on consoles yet, but I think Sherbet Land was in the leaked banner and is a better Vanilla Lake-like course.
Yeah it was name dropped in Coconut Mall, but I’m not convinced that’s hard proof it is in. Like it could easily just be a fun reference for hardcore Mario Kart fans. If Sherbet Land is in, either Vanilla Lake would be a tad redundant and we got plenty of other snow themed courses to pull from (including DK Summit which has been teased). That said, 48 tracks is a lot, so there’s going to be thematic overlap.Wasn't Vanilla Lake "teased" with a sponsor banner in Coconut Mall? I can remember something like that.
Didn't expect Berlin 1 to have Whomps fill in the gaps of the berlin wall, lol.

One of the pictures looks like the GameCube one apparently. I most want Bowser’s Castle Wii (which is possible) and Bowser Castle 64 (not enough N64 spots :/), but I think we’ll get 7’s which isn’t my favorite, but is very solid still. There’s a real dearth of Bowser Castles in 8, only the newest one so far, so I really hope we at least get two good ones.It could be a reference. But I feel like Nintendo finally wants to bring Vanilla Lake to a modern Mario Kart, as it is the only SNES theme that hasn't been on a modern Mario Kart yet (except for Tour, but well, you know, the tracks will come from that game). You also have Bowser's Castle, but that is a theme covered many times through the years.
Anyway, is there a version of Bowser's Castle we could actually expect for the DLC? Bowser's Castle 3DS probably? But with the datamine, there aren't many prefixes for 3DS, and personally I don't really like BC 3DS, so I hope there is another Bowser's Castle. Is any BC found on the banner, actually?
i mean coconut mall also advertises kamek book store and he's almost definitely not coming to 8It could be a reference. we really shouldn't take anything from the courses designed for tour as any indication of something coming in the course pass
Cookie Land from GCN? Very cool. Will update as we learn more, but the newest update for Tour has some exciting glimpses at imminent content. This should help give it away:

Some people have theorized that Los Angeles Laps could be a 1 lap track (potentially starting at the yellow line like Los Angeles Laps 1).I know that Paris Promenade goes backwards on the final lap, but unlike that track I'm not really seeing how you'd be able to smoothly change direction in the other tracks. Paris had that convenient extra turn near the finish line, which most of the other city tracks lack.
That'd be the best way to do that track for sure, but honestly that's probably one of the easiest ones to do alongside New York Minute. It's the tracks that straddle the middle (like Berlin Byways or Amsterdam Drift) that I'm most curious about, because there isn't enough variation to do a full one lap like this, but too much to do a simple path change like in Tokyo Blur. Some people have theorized that Los Angeles Laps could be a 1 lap track (potentially starting at the yellow line like Los Angeles Laps 1).
I think they’ll just need to use the R variants for courses like Sydney and Berlin to make it all work. I can think of clever ways to adapt some like Vancouver into three section tracks, but I think they’ll go the Reverse route.Surprised at how much new ground is covered by Berlin Byways and Amsterdam Drift 2. Berlin Byways in particular is gonna have a lot of reused track in its inevitable 3rd variant.
I'm really curious to see how some of these newer Tour tracks will work in MK8D given how often the different variants go in opposite directions. With all these fests, it makes me think Nintendo is fast-tracking the rest of Tour's content now so it can be shut down within the next year and also maybe booster course pass related. There wasn’t much left to find on the battle courses yet it seems. Seems like they are very imminent inclusions though. Another two-Tour ‘Fest’ event is happening the current Metropolitan Fest; and that could be some sort of Battle Fest or something to introduce them.
Do you think it's possible we get a few battle maps for the Booster Pass as a surprise? There wasn’t much left to find on the battle courses yet it seems. Have to imagine Tour received at least somewhat of a popularity boost due to the BCP, so they’re probably trying to capitalize on that before phasing out new content additions. Doubt Tour itself is shut down for quite a while though. With all these fests, it makes me think Nintendo is fast-tracking the rest of Tour's content now so it can be shut down within the next year and also maybe booster course pass related.
That's what i'm hoping for; not necessarily through the booster pass even, they could put them out as a free update since there wouldn't be many. Hoping a better GBA option than the bog standard Battle Course 1 shows up later though, lol.Do you think it's possible we get a few battle maps for the Booster Pass as a surprise?
My rule of thumb for this is "If Nintendo hasn't said it about their DLC, do not assume it will happen." I agree with @MondoMega in that if it does happen, it won't happen through the Booster Course Pass; it'd be its own thing, free or paid. Same with characters.Do you think it's possible we get a few battle maps for the Booster Pass as a surprise?
Luckly the Amsterdam map still has the State Museum and tulip field that hasnt been used yet.Surprised at how much new ground is covered by Berlin Byways and Amsterdam Drift 2. Berlin Byways in particular is gonna have a lot of reused track in its inevitable 3rd variant.

Wonder why they’re keeping the second part of the event a secret…
GCN Mushroom City please

The second wave of the tour will almost certainly cycle out the current cities, so if anything I’d say it makes the current ones less likely. London is in the current Tour as well, so unless they add 3 cities it wouldn’t line up anyway. Thanks for your reply. Do you think then that as the Metropolitan Tour is running Amsterdam and Berlin at the moment that it's most likely that these will be the two Tour maps that come as part of the next wave - especially as they're keeping the second part of the tour a surprise. The dates matching up with the rumoured Nintendo Direct suggests a shadow drop to me.

My personal prediction is that the next wave will be themed around nighttime city tracks, with New York, Singapore 2, Vancouver 3, and a new city, b
My predictions for Wave 2: since it’s summertime, I think a bit of summer themed courses would be a neat theme for the two cups.Figured it was a good time to revive this thread given that we'll see the new wave 2 courses next week (if the Direct is still happening). Anyone got any predictions? Here's the games that each track originates from for some help:
Turnip Cup:
Tour
SNES
N64
DS
Propellor Cup:
Tour
GBA
Wii

It's either Koopa Cape or Mushroom Gorge for that Wii spot. Hopefully it's the former, because the latter isn't very interesting.I'm just glad we're all agreeing on Koopa Cape, tbh.
I like your name for the Sweets course! It's either Koopa Cape or Mushroom Gorge for that Wii spot. Hopefully it's the former, because the latter isn't very interesting.
My picks:
Turnip Cup
Propeller Cup
- Tour Berlin Byways
- SNES Mario Circuit 3
- N64 Kalimari Desert
- DS Waluigi Pinball
- Tour Los Angeles Laps
- GBA Sunset Wilds
- Wii Koopa Cape
- NSW Sweet Speedway
We currently have the spread of platforms and a banner image with unrevealed tracks in it. @MondoMega made some cool charts for it and analyzed the image to identify the tracks. (Do you have a list of Banner tracks Mondo?)Were there ever like datamined tracks discovered, with like actual names and stuff? I'm out of the loop on this one.
Personally for tracks, I need about as much Double Dash tracks as I can. Give me Dino Dino Jungle, Wario Colosseum, Daisy Cruiser, DK Mountain, you name it
I like the Tour original tracks, but it's a shame those are given priority over more iconic and original tracks from N64 and 3DS. 14 tracks AT LEAST are from Tour are you shitting me?! Meanwhile N64 gets three and 3DS gets two IIRC.I like your name for the Sweets course!
If datamining is accurate, big shame we are only getting one more N64 course. So many awesome choices are going to be left on the table. I’d love Bowser’s Castle N64 to make it in, but I’m not feeling hopeful.
