They should show it at an event where there's a lot of developers gathering. If we take this at face value it means switch 2 will be announced before early May.
Furukawa would also be right even if Switch 2 launches in June and is part of the Switch family. Not exactly lying in that sense I guessSame thing if it doesn’t launch until September. Furukawa just making sure he’s technically right.
In times of only a single platform, here comes the Second Pillar!“main business” implies the existence of secondary business
They have a theme park now. And a movie!“main business” implies the existence of secondary business
This whole "Switch 2" thing is just a side-hustle, no big deal.“main business” implies the existence of secondary business
They have a theme park now. And a movie!
They're getting back into the Hanafuda business, watch out! They have a theme park now. And a movie!
Finally they go back to their roots! That „video game“ thing was just there to get people ready for the real games. They're getting back into the Hanafuda business, watch out!
Patience people, time is flying so quick (The fact we already 1 week into February tomorrow is nuts), I have a gut feeling it will be announced/revealed next month.
Soon enough, we will have a trailer similar to the iconic Nintendo Switch reveal.
For now, let's focus on the next week for the Full Fat General Direct
Hush, we have narratives to spinY'all not ignoring that "heading into" part of the sentence, yes?
Don‘t be ashamed, it seems like most of famiboards is a bit masochist. Some sick part of me was hoping Furukawa would say ‘ The Switch is still roughly halfway through its lifecycle’
Depending on how much awareness of the film industry Nintendo has, they might be learning as they go. The Mario Movie was a weird beat to start on given Illumination's track record and the fact that the film... didn't really work as a film but rather a strange rollercoaster ride for Nintendo fans but not really for critics. It panned out in the end, but we might see slight changes in their approach as time goes on because this is still a new business to them. The movie business is about to die young with that live action Zelda movie, don't worry. It's back to consoles and theme parks, two pillars.
Eh if they say it or not it won’t Rush the announcement. I just want it to be announced lolWow so they really going to potentially make us wait all the way until May??? What's so hard about saying we have plans to release a successor this calendar year.
Nintendo ain’t making nobody potentially do anything.Wow so they really going to potentially make us wait all the way until May??? What's so hard about saying we have plans to release a successor this calendar year.
Damn right. They can't make me wait if I don't want to - I'm going down to Mr. Nintendo's office right now.Nintendo ain’t making nobody potentially do anything.
Come down from the ledge, it ain’t safe!
Nintendo has the sales record in Japan nowThe revelation will not be in March in my opinion. They will let the fiscal year end quietly and try to sell as many Switch 1 as possible. As someone else pointed out, they are really close to the sales record in Japan.
The positioning of Princess Peach Showtime in March confirms this. This is the last major game that will be released before the announcement of the new material, it is a new license that capitalizes on the success of the Mario movie. This is strategic and important, Nintendo does not launch a new series every day and it is also a series that materializes their IP development strategy.
I think the Switch 2 will be formalized in May at the next financial meeting, that’s almost what Furukawa just said. With a big presentation planned for June.
Oh wow I just saw the sales figures, it’s more than I thought.Nintendo has the sales record in Japan now
Remember that the Game developer's Conference is in Mon, Mar 18, 2024 – Fri, Mar 22, 2024. This would explain why gamescom devs who were shown the targeted specs in August were mentioning March. Nintendo wants to show more behind closed doors.interesting to see what the March rumblings will be about
Nintendo's strategies are working, people are becoming brainwashed.man so many are reading this as nothing until 2025 huh?
It's possible. Ultimately no one knows how Nintendo will handle it.The revelation will not be in March in my opinion. They will let the fiscal year end quietly and try to sell as many Switch 1 as possible.
They already have it, in fact.As someone else pointed out, they are really close to the sales record in Japan.
Princess Peach is a small time game. Nothing you would delay your next gen reveal plans over imo.The positioning of Princess Peach Showtime in March confirms this. I disagree that Furukawa 'almost just said' this. When someone asks 'what are your plans for the coming fiscal year' at the Q3 earnings, you would kindly point out to them that the forecast for the next fiscal year will be given in May, not in February. None of that suggests that Nintendo won't reveal the system before that (in fact, one might expect them to have revealed the next system so that their financial forecast is more believable).I think the Switch 2 will be formalized in May at the next financial meeting, that’s almost what Furukawa just said. March.Switch 2 will be announced by May
1) Absolutely. Nobody knows. That’s why it’s fun to discuss and speculate about it, right?1) It's possible. Ultimately no one knows how Nintendo will handle it.
2) They already have it, in fact.

Switch successor will have the shortest time between initial announcement and launch no matter what but damn, May reveal and November launch sounds simply crazy. Even Switch 1 launched 11 months after the announcement.
Yeah, I'm referring to that April announcement. It still is a legit announcement, they literally revealed the release month of the next console.Unless you’re referring to its NX code name and such, the Switch was officially announced on October 16th, 2016. That’s less than five months before launch. Then it had its major unveiling and release date announced in January 2017.
You gotta read it right:
"The ->existing<- (aka Switch 1) Switch" will be the main business "->heading into<- 2024".
The existing Switch will be Nintendo’s “main business” heading into 2024, President Shuntaro Furukawa said on a conference call after the earnings report. The company’s plan for the next fiscal year will be shared at its next earnings briefing, he added.

Right now Nintendo has made zero acknowledgement about the next generation of Switch. They still can make something like above before dropping the reveal trailer. Like they did with DS and 3DS in the past.
