1.) Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Hey! nice to see Sunbreak get some recognition, supergood expansion. Also overall an top 10 I can really dig, never heard of that site... maybe it's for me :p

Some did avoid playing Bayonetta 3 do the voice acting controversy that happened. Like I know GVG avoided the game afterwards. Even when all the other stuff came out and still sided with Taylor. Don’t think they even acknowledge anything after that and stuck to their guns.

Honestly, I was kind of dissapointed with some of the GVG cast after this whole ordeal - it was super easy to go back on their statements after everything came about.. but sticking to their guns was super weird and not expected.

Their focus is exclusively on Japanese games! I think it's cool that they specialize like that.

this is just for switch games so it doesn't really count, but here's nintendolife's top 50(!) switch games of 2022

This list was made through reader rankings and is fluid. Kind of a cool way to do a list! And it turned out pretty good!

With Kirby, Bayonetta, Triangle Strategy, Sunbreak and Xenoblade 3, this mostly corresponds to my own tastes and is therefore the objectively correct list.

RPS has concluded their annual Advent Calendar if anyone wants to parse it out. It’s PC-centric but heavy on indies so there’s plenty of crossover with consoles.

^ I think that's my favorite list this year.

A lot of cool, small discoveries on there. And I haven't seen anyone talking about a few of those like Mothmen 1966 and Kaiju Wars.

Just an FYI a new site is up to tally awards. Made by a member over on ERA

https://goty.gamefa.com/

After some digging it was determined that the owner of the previous blog had relaxed the rules in the past to inflate scores of The Last of Us Part II and Death Stranding, so a new blog was formed.

it's pretty sad someone did all of that out of fanboyism, good to see there's a new tracker.

Elden Ring has surpassed The Last of Us 2's total Game of the Year awards.

That's according to dedicated ResetEra researchers, who have compiled Elden Ring's total Game of the Year awards, and deduced that FromSoftware's latest currently sits at a staggering 324 wins. That officially beats The Last of Us Part 2's awards, which totalled 322 back in 2020.

there's still a few more months of awards being given so the gap is going to get a lot bigger between #1 and #2. elden ring's success is super impressive.

Yeah I think Eurogamer’s list is my favourite too.
