There's no HDR support at 4K 120 Hz if the max bandwidth available is ~32 Gbps (at least if Display Stream Compression (DSC) isn't used). If we're talking strictly bandwidth needed for 4k/120 fps, the PS5 has demonstrated that it can output 4k/120fps with just 32Gbps of bandwidth over HDMI 2.1 and bandwidth of DP 1.4a is 32.4 Gbps. I hope we can get 4k/120 fps because that can enable 40 fps output for some traditionally 30 fps games.
yeah, depending on how invest Apple gets in the future of running console level games on its mobile hardware(phones and iPad) then Nintendo will definitely have some mindshare taken away.Nintendo should be worried now, a phone can run very demading games natively
I mean, technically iPhone 7 could run all the PS3 games but only received very few, like XCOM, Bioshock or Alien Isolation... No one else bothered to port their own games.Nintendo should be worried now, a phone can run very demading games natively

Phones have been more powerful than the Switch in raw specs for years now. Why are we acting surprised?who would imagine a phone would doom Nintendo, iPhone 15 without the console even launching
I'm not going to lie, but if anything can threaten the Switch 2, it's this.A17 Pro/iPhone 15 Pro at the Apple Event
EDIT: Death Stranding too.
- Hardware accelerated ray tracing
- MetalFX Upscaling with the Neural Engine
- Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4 on ARM
The phone will also be 3x more expensive than a new Switch, starting at 1.200€ in Germany. They'll be fine.Nintendo should be worried now, a phone can run very demading games natively
mobile competition is much harsh nowPhones have been more powerful than the Switch in raw specs for years now. Why are we acting surprised?
In 2017, when the switch launched the iPhone 7 was already more powerful. That’s 6 years of phones being ahead.
Switch 2 will run those games too.Nintendo should be worried now, a phone can run very demading games natively
Haven't we been hearing this song for years at this point?yeah, depending on how invest Apple gets in the future of running console level games on its mobile hardware(phones and iPad) then Nintendo will definitely have some mindshare taken away.
Switch 2 will run those too for a fraction of the price.Nintendo should be worried now, a phone can run very demading games natively

But spec wise, how does it compare to Switch 2? I imagine it's at least 2x better.I don't know if this will exactly be a huge Switch 2 killer, this is a $1000 device that'll likely be very limited after launch vs. an around $400 full on console.

Yeah, people here are weird. Or have memory rivaling that of a goldfish.Phones have been more powerful than the Switch in raw specs for years now. Why are we acting surprised?
In 2017, when the switch launched the iPhone 7 was already more powerful (CPU wise, I believe the X1 still beats its GPU). That’s 6 years of phones being ahead.

Interesting, AC:Mirage too
It's a very impressive bit of kit, but they have to be shitposts.Wait are these "iPhone is gonna be the real competition for Switch 2" takes genuine? I assumed they were sarcasm/shitposts.
Hopefully I was right.
is this concern trolling?yeah, depending on how invest Apple gets in the future of running console level games on its mobile hardware(phones and iPad) then Nintendo will definitely have some mindshare taken away.
Well, if they're gonna bring 2+ year old games on the launch day, it means they are not taking it seriously. I want recent as hell games in the launch window: Assassin's Creed Red, Star Wars Outlaws, Dragon's Dogma 2, Dragon Age wolf something. They can release the old stuff later at a budget price. To me, this looks like a bunch of developers I would trust with a Switch 2 devkit
Hands down, I think this device might just barely match the Switch 2 in raster performance and perhaps in RT. I don't know how good Apple's RT is so enlighten me there.I would be disappointed if a 2023 Apple mobile device marketed as a 'Pro' model of their flagship phone starting at $999 wasn't at least as performant as the Switch 2.
Seriously go look at the price again and tell me with a straight face that this is a Switch killer.
And we still don't even know how these games run.
If anything this should be encouraging. Perfectly encapsulates what is now possible on mobile hardware. Until smartphones start adding analogue sticks and dpads along with somehow having the next Mario / Zelda / Animal Crossing etc don't see why Nintendo would be worried at all.
Also wonder how long the battery is going to last on one of these running something like Assassins Creed maxxed out (without setting itself on fire).
Also yeh, look at the price. A PC that is 3 times the price of a PS5 would also destroy it in performance and serve a lot more all round usefull a purpose. Should Sony be worried?
These all serve very different markets
We may actually reach page 2000 by the time this thing is announced!
How about we place our bets?
I'm optimistic, 1600 pages!

I have no idea. I was also taking MetalFX upscaling into consideration, I assume it's another AI powered upscaling solution. Though how it compares with DLSS, no clue.Hands down, I think this device might just barely match the Switch 2 in raster performance and perhaps in RT. Porting x86 games to ARM is pretty much trivial these days anyway, it's an extremely overblown issue. This means there are version of those games running on ARM, isn't that actually good news? I mean all of those games are cross gen so they should not have any problem running on the switch 2
I'd be more concerned if a $1000 dollar phone COULDN'T run something made on 2013 techit's actually pretty impressive that the iPhone 15 can even run this game, makes me wonder what the Switch 2 can do.
