News 35 minute Pokemon Presents August 8th at 6 am PDT

Oh yeah.... that probably is it, huh?
They will probably also distribute Mew, but yeah I think the M tease is probably this.

Maybe there is also a movie or anime tie-in, or some other Mewtwo push. I think they just brought Mewtwo to Unite.

What do we know so far about the (leaked?) announcements of the poke presents?
The Pokemon Masters EX datamine found a string in the code that said there would be a Pokemon Presents on August 8th, that's pretty much it.

I'm sure there some other datamined info in Masters and other mobile games that will be announced, like the aforementioned Mewtwo raid, but I don't keep up with that.

One thing, see Weebos post above.

Here's another thing:

Nemona's coming to Pokemon Masters on August 8th too. First S/V char in the game, also they add new role types with future new chars too (currently only Striker (offense), Tech (mix) and Support (Tank/Heal and so)).

I always get hyped for these, because there's always the chance that GameFreak announces something bonkers like Black 2 & White 2, or Legends Arceus.

Forget the idea of GB/GBA games coming to NSO - it would imply easy cloning of Pokémon and items as the apps themselves are compatible with cloud.
If they release older generation games (and I sure hope they eventually do it), it will have to be on their own whether it's a dedicated app or singular eShop releases.

I hope we learn more about TCG Classic, I am super excited for that.

It's stupid of me to say it after the last Presents, but...

Mystery Dungeon maybe perhaps?

Dreams: Let's Go Johto? Idk. I think the Let's Go brand is retired.

Hopes: Old Pokemon Games (not just red/blue/yellow) on NSO

Crushing Reality: Scarlet Violet DLC

Maybe I should put the NSO thing in "dreams"

I saw necro said “no” to nothing LEGENDARY being in this show, but I’m not sure if that was inside info or his opinion.

It’s amazing this series is still so popular. Good on them.

I don't expect anything for the mainline games at all beyond another look at the SV DLC, but that is one hefty boy

What do you mean by legendary? A new Legends game? Because I doubt that's happening any time soon, holiday 2024 is the earliest we could see a new mainline game and I don't think it will be Legends. Right now it's time for DLC for SV, Detective Pikachu 2 deep dive and maybe a new spin-off or two.

I hope no one has their hopes for a new Legends game being announced now. They don’t announce games thus far out. It’ll be in the early 2024 presentation

I would love any kind of NSO update or Legends Celebi, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'll be annoyed that GameFreak learned absolutely nothing from ScarVio development if they even so much as hint towards gen 10 before 2026 (and even then they games should not be coming out prior to 2027)

Is Mystery Dungeon maybe still an option? I remember there being some smoke around it for the last Presents.

Though honestly, I expect DLC deep dive, maybe a new regional form or something and a new Raid for SV, given they've run out of starters now.

January 2027 for gen 10 it is :p

He did also say there'd be multiple Mewtwo events going on, so he's presumably talking about something like the Arceus game

If I'm being honest I feel like the whole discourse around it is kinda tiresome. I liked Arceus for what it was but I'm not convinced that there's enough meat on those bones to support more games in a similar vein, and I've yet to see someone make an actual pitch for what a second game under the branding would actually do to expand on that aside from "well you pick a different mythical in a different region"

You know damn well those games need more than 4 years of HD development 🤣

But fr I will be so so sad if GameFreak learned absolutely nothing from this debacle. SV are honestly up there for helping me rekindle my love for the series when I wasn't sure if PLA was a fluke, but holy hell for all the progress they made there is SO much left wanting for more or better (or often both)

Yeah, longer is not better with all the filler these tend to have. Like, hopefully there's news about a new, non-mobile spin-off and emulated mainline releases, but I'm expecting 30 minutes of tedious mobile game news.

They better at least announce season of Galar for Go. It's getting ridiculous that they haven't properly added that yet.

I have negative expectations for this presents lol. We're getting DLC shit, mobile shit and if I recall correctly some gen 5 remake or something gen 5 related. Not exactly expecting anything else and that includes NSO which should be a fucking lock in but whatever lol.

I think we're 100% getting the Pokémon TCG for GBC. I'm actually looking forward to that.

I don't think they're going to release any of the other older games just yet.

Setting my expectations low. Don't really care about the mobile games, and the SV DLC feels like something I'm just going to get because it's more Pokemon.

The old Gameboy TGC game on NSO would be cool though. I mean, I'd really want a new game since I don't really care about TGCO or whatever, but I'm not exactly anticipating that lol

Same. With new consoles on NSO looking questionable near-term I could see Pokémon being a big selling point for the service next year.

I’d be happy to be surprised though.

I mean you said not before 2027 and January 2027 would fit your requirements :p
I do think it's more out of stubbornness about not wanting to change than greed, because the development time period has largely stayed the same since Pokemon started.

35 minutes! Even you try to bloat it with mobile game news, 20 something minutes is left for actual announcements! Something big's coming...

No likes and 5 quotes... I'm afraid to read any further.

Ah yes... I can feel it now, Hype is sky-rocketing! If the sky was beneath me!

Still... I could use a new good Mystery Dungeon game, or a new Legends game mayhaps.

Either that, or they just allow it.

IIRC, NSO already has the functionality to disable save states whenever games so choose (Like if you play Mario Kart 64 Online, though I havent actually checked if this is true or not) And Pokemon HOME has hack checks to not allow cloned Pokemon in.

So it's still doable. The games can keep save states disabled, and even if you were to duplicate your save file using cloud manipulation and get like 2 lv100 Mews, you'd only be able to transfer out one of them, and HOMEs hack check would just wipe the other

I wish but given they don't allow cloud saves on main series for that very reason I'd be very surprised indeed if they allowed it lol.

And in the unlikely event they did they certainly wouldn't allow home compatibility which would be disappointing.

I didn't know that, given me some (probably misplaced) hope.

Unova Legends was rumored right? For anytime soon?

Given DLC is this year I wouldn't expect new main series games and certainly not any by Game Freak in this presentation. They haven't announced anything main series more than eleven months in advance in long long time.

Even if home has these ostensible checks, they won't be possible for old ROMs of GB/GBC/GBa Games because it'll be relying on some unseen data to the player to be quietly generating the information about whether Pokémon are the same or not, that literally won't exist for anything generated in the old games.

Theoretically the ROMs could be edited to change the structure and generation of the old pk1 files and and update for home to make it compatible. But yeah still pretty unlikely.

Honestly though I'd prefer if new classic Pokémon releases weren't NSO but something you could acually buy. I'd definitely buy £30 retail collections of each gen tbh.

One way I could see save states and the pokemon games coexisting would be that when you go to transfer pokemon to pokemon home from nso it would wipe your save data and and save states from the game you are uploading from and immediately update your cloud save data to reflect this.

It would of course require you to start the game over but after you've beat the game you presumably would be able to save the pokemon you collected once your done playing on this particular save file.

If they wanted to make Pokémon games specifically exempt from save states and cloud backups, that's well within their capability. Some methods of doing that might require OS updates, but that's not a problem if they're actually intent on doing it.

There's no solution that allows save states or cloud backups to exist while also preventing cloning because trading is a thing that would be implemented

GB Pokémon is unlikely on NSO not because of those restrictions, but because it's its own huge money maker that they're not just going to give out to subscribers. Recall the premium pricing of the VC ports

Given Pokemon Sleep's recent release, I wonder if they will mention some new updates for it. It didn't strike me as an app that frequently updates, but maybe the upcoming presentation might have another word with it.

Of course, the biggest draw to it is The Teal Mask DLC. Really curious to see the extra features that will come with it.

Thank you for reading.

Yeah, putting the classic Pokemon games on NSO is just a money losing proposition for TPC. I don't think there is a cut of the NSO revenue that would be acceptable to both Nintendo and TPC to get them on there outside of some sort of third Pokemon tier/addon.

There are some unreleased datamined areas in Pokemon SLEEP, so they seem to have some sort of update plan.
