Apologies if old but did we do the MoneyDJ alleged leak/rumour?

Hongzhun (2354), a large metal shell manufacturer, welcomed multiple kinetic energy in the second half of the year. With the start of the new iPhone to pull-up, the peak season of game consoles, and the recovery of laptop shipments, Hongzhun's three major businesses (shell, game console assembly, and heat dissipation module) in June were all higher than in May. The operation in the second half of the year is expected to heat up quarter, and this year's revenue Profits are expected to return to the growth track.

Hongzh is the main supplier of iPhone cases. It is expected that the high-end iPhone models with titanium alloy border this year will also be mainly supplied by Hongzhe, which is expected to drive the improvement of ASP. This year, the new iPhone will also introduce a number of new colors, which is expected to drive sales growth. Hongzhe has begun to ship new models from June. iPhone.

In addition, although the overall kinetic energy of game consoles this year is mediocre, in the second half of the year, with the advent of the traditional peak season, game consoles are also expected to increase compared with the first half of the year. Nintendo plans to launch Switch in Q1 next year. According to this estimate, Hongzhun's game console assembly business is expected to see the kinetic energy of goods in December this year.

Hongzhen is one of the few component factories in the industry with the capacity of housing and heat dissipation modules. The heat dissipation module has a variety of applications, including handheld devices, laptops, servers, Netcom, game consoles, etc. It also cooperates with servers and Netcom customers to lay out AI-related products, including international server brands, server OEMs, and Netcom factories. It is its customer.

In response to the group's development direction, Hongzhin has continued to lay out new fields such as electric vehicles, 5G, robots, servers, and medical care in recent years.

Yeah, but it's unclear whether or not the author is just referencing the 4chan Pokemon post or not.

Well, youtube is going crazy with the MS vs Sony thing, and it seems that the release date for switch 2 is Q1 2024 and Switch 2 will be as powerful as a PS4 according to redacted emails from the trial.

Again a lot of these stuff sounds like assumptions rather than facts...

Also I think foxconn leaked the q1 in their financial earning meeting.

Foxconn did what? Where does that come from?
It was from my google feed

let me see if I can find the information or article

here it is https://www.notebookcheck.net/Plaus...n-Foxconn-financial-news-report.732868.0.html

In addition, although the overall momentum of game machines this year is mediocre, with the traditional peak season coming in the second half of the year, game machine shipments are expected to increase compared to the first half of the year, and Nintendo plans to launch the Switch in Q1 next year.

Also I think foxconn leaked the q1 in their financial earning meeting.

They did not leak anything in their financial earning meeting.

Sorry for the bold, I'm trying to stamp this out now. The article you link to goes back to a Taiwanese blog, and the idea that hardware is launching in Q1 is speculation by the blogger.

The OG source for this find in the English language is this very forum, and the DeepL translations without context aren't helping. There may be some truth to that blogger's speculation, but Foxconn has said nothing about it, publicly.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but in addition to battery life issues, don't 5G chips get quite hot too? Admittedly I haven't kept up with the phones arm race in a long time; it could be fixed by now, but still.

It may not be as much of an issue with something that has the size and cooling of a Switch, but between the thermals and the battery life (not to mention the cost, too), I'm with @ItWasMeantToBe19 on this one. Not sure I see the benefit of 5G.
Yes they get really hot atm.

And they also aren’t cheap.

Add a $150 price tag to whatever you would think to cover the cost of the chip and Nintendo’s cost ensure they don’t remain in red per unit.

Michael Pachter was right, Nintendo should just go 3rd party.
Nah, 4th party.
We are at the end of the line, it is time Nintendo finally does a discount greater than 20% for once. Sometimes it's 30%, rare, but they do need to tone down the pricing on some of the older titles already. They have milked them quite thoroughly.
But the people keep buying these at full price😩

Irish retailers have begun to join the Switch games sale/stock clearing, with discounts of up to 40% on Nintendo published titles.
TIL you’re Irish!
Mariko and Lite were reported on as products, but no one shared any advance warnings about the announcement. And while I recall Emily saying she thought hardware would be announced "imminently" ahead of the OLED reveal, she said that in June, and I think even said it might happen before or around E3. Not to mention that she didn't have a handle on what the hardware actually was, so it doesn't seem like she had a source with foreknowledge of the announcement itself at that time either.
It was right before it started.

We can speculate on the design. I don't think they will deviate much from the tablet design. I would appreciate a back design similar to that of the Wii U gamepad, but that would make it too akward to carry arround. Also, do the mounted controllers (joycons 2 or whatever) really have to be as tall as the console itself?

Not as ugly as this but you know what I mean.

In my opinion, I could see them preparing lines come late Q1/early Q2 but that's speculation on my behalf.

If retailers knew anything, it would leak in a second.

And quite honestly, Nintendo are not exactly dumb. They would know once retailers knew about it, it would leak in a finger snap.

This is why I think it’s perfectly reasonable to suggest the reason we haven’t heard anything is because the final design hasn’t been finished yet.

If Drake was in fact taped out sometime in H2 2022, it could’ve been mass produced after that, correct? So the question then is why haven’t we heard, let alone seen anything?

Have Nintendo decided that like their completed games just waiting to be launched when the timing is right, they’re letting it sit until the right moment? Truthfully, I highly doubt it, so maybe they wanted to finalized other areas of the system, such as controllers, screen, Ram requirements, internal storage, Game Card slot design, and such.

Maybe Drake was only Stage 1 of NG Switch? Just so they at that point have a power/performance target, and will design the system around it?

Either way, my thinking is besides some folks at Nintendo, Nvidia, whoever is manufacturing Drake, and perhaps some close 1st party developers, the system does not officially exist yet, and won’t be mass produced until it’s unveiled to the world.

One thing I don’t know off hand is how does it take to mass produce millions of systems prior to launch? Not to mention, you’d better hope the Firmware for the OS is pretty much ready to go before mass production.

I’d find it hard to believe that potentially tens of thousands of folks between Nintendo, Nvidia, TSMC/Samsung, the Manufacturers, Developers, and others would somehow not only keep it secret, but not even take a photo to leak out.

TL;DR

NG Switch I don’t believe has been mass produced yet, and won’t be until it is unveiled globally in order to keep leaks in check.

Wait, what does foxconn have to do with Nintendo? Are they working on hardware components for the successor or something?
Foxconn is one of Nintendo's hardware assemblers, just like they assemble Iphones for Apple.
They don't provide components, they get all the stuff from Nintendo or manufacturers under contract with Nintendo and assemble the final products.

I expect an OLED model sized and shaped console, with the same dock, charger and HDMI cable, with large, black or cream coloured Joy-Con that have substantial new grips akin to Wii U, but which aren't otherwise much wider. I expect the new Joy-Con Grip to be the central unit of the existing grip with minimal other changes.

The body will likely take on a new visual identity despite the same size. Such as by chamfered edges rather than rounded, perhaps a red or deep blue colourway, and/or a wholly metallic construction for heat dissipation and marketing reasons.

The kickstand is unlikely to change mechanically, but as others have speculated, I think it'll be the same hinges as OLED Model, but with the hinges moved to the top two corners of the system so the motherboard has more room. A wraparound design, as some have stated.

They're Nintendo's primary (and at this point, I believe exclusive) manufacturing partner. Foxconn assembles the Switch and manufactures the backplate.

Any particular reasoning?
Not that I'm Nate, but even assuming the report is correct, its a little ambiguous about "launch". From a manufacturing perspective, the "launch" is when they first get orders for devices, and the article sites December as the first indication of increased demand for Foxconn products (including iPhones).

Beginning manufacturing in Q1 matches solidly with all of that.

I think if there is new hardware at this point, it's going to be a Famicom version of the Switch OLED with Cream/Burgundy Joy-cons...and it would look freaking sweet.

EDIT: These colors for a Switch OLED?

chef's kiss
It looks Japan-exclusive.
I'd believe it.

This. If Q1 is when they are expecting/forecasting initial supply to arrive for manufacturing, then the article would be accurate in the sense of "launch" being when they begin to do test-runs & such.

Y'know, there have been a bunch of things that have just moved this thread into overdrive for the past few weeks. Hopefully, things calm down a little.
