I thought this Direct was fantastic! Then again, I don't really care about the distinction between 1st party announcements and 3rd party announcements, even for indie games. As long as the games look appealing, I'm interested. A good is a good game. Lots to look forward to this year!

This felt like a Direct where I'll be looking for September's direct even sooner, but I've already downloaded Pikmin 1+2 (even if I won't get to them right away with Zelda), looking forward to Batman and MGS, and Super Mario Wonder looks interesting even if I don't immediately vibe with the art style.

I want to rewatch it again though, but I'll be especially interested in hearing the Q&A from the investor's meeting on Friday

tbh the best part of this direct was them clearly talking around what platforms that Peach game and the Luigi Mansion remake are coming to when they release next year

hmmm it’s almost like maybe we’ll find out what console(s) they’re coming to soon… hmmm

I wonder why it was both Koizumi and Takahashi. They were doing this for E3 Directs only. They were like, okay it's June we will pretend like it's E3.

Nintendo confirmed that they are both coming to Switch on Twitter

Nintendo's product schedule has the peach game under the title "Princess Peach game for Nintendo Switch"

Mario RPG, new 2D Mario, Metal Gear and Batman collections, Pikmin 1 and 2 shadowdrops... i think it was a great Direct, but it could've been truly awesome if TOTK DLC or MP4 showed up. Much of the new stuff was tied to Mario. Anyway, MP4 will be there in september imo

So Pyoro is a clear leaker and knows a lot. I didn’t doubt this person. My only problem now is he effectively leaked every big game announcement except for the new Peach game and Dark Moon coming to Switch.

I hope this doesn’t become a thing where he leaks all the big stuff because I don’t like that.

Directs will never, ever be the same for me now that TotK is out, but it was pretty good! Pikmin 4, the promise of a Peach game and Wonder were obvious highlights, but Star Ocean looked rad too, for someone who never got into the series.
It's funny, I actually have the opposite view. Directs never did TOTK any favors; the last two trailers were really lame teases more than anything else. I'm happy we actually moved on and had new things to look forward to.

Anyone willing to spend a bunch of money at the upcoming shareholders meeting to ask for Metroid Prime 4 updates?
I wouldn't worry about Prime 4 not showing up today as a bad sign. The only 2024 games shown today from Nintendo were the new Peach game and a remaster of Dark Moon. They showed off the Peach game earlier then they normally would, seemingly to reassure people there will be new games in 2024. The only thing today confirmed is that it's not a 2023 title.

Maybe not the place to discuss it but if the alleged July event isn't a Pikmin 4 direct(that probably have been announced today), maybe Switch 2 announcement?

that peach game reveal was so bizarre. im down for a new peach game, it looks visually great, but i dont even know what genre it is

Feast on my unsolicited takeaways from the Direct!
  • No Persona 3 Reloaded for Switch is funny. Persona 5 Tactica looks good though, may grab that on a sale.
  • Not planning on getting Super Mario RPG but hot damn was that a blast of nostalgia. I'm more excited for the untitled Peach game they have coming out in 2024. Seems like it's portrayed like a stage play, which piques the curiosity! Won't be nabbing Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon either but it gives me hope for more 3DS remasters. Kid Icarus Uprising next, please!
  • I have never played a Pikmin game outside of the demo for 3 before, but Pikmin 4 is looking more and more tempting by the day. The Lilliputian perspective and weird wildlife just speak to me a lot. I want to collect the watches and Gameboys. I honestly might use my second voucher for it... thank god there's a demo coming so I can try it out first.
  • FINALLY we get Arkham Trilogy. It's been a long time coming.
  • Have heard a lot of good buzz about Gloomhaven, definitely interested in checking out these digitized tabletop experiences.
  • Silent Hope straight up has the cows from Harvest Moon! Plus it's being developed by Marvelous, so this smells like an ARPG with Harvest Moon (and other life sim) elements to me. Cautiously optimistic for this one.
  • A sequel to Hot Wheels Unleashed already? Dang, I should buy the first one already.
  • As a huge fan of Overcooked, Manic Mechanics is right up my oil-stained alley.
  • DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS! It's been too long. Looks like there's a robust dex, the fusion system looks deep, I love it, screw the Pokemon stuff, DQM wins this year.
  • Oh no Vampire Survivors is coming to Switch. I just got Into The Breach. My timetable is in peril!
  • Penny's Big Breakaway looks amazing. I definitely want more 3D platformers and this looks like a stellar entry for the genre already.
  • The new course for Mario Kart, same like Pikmin 4, appeals to my adoration for Lilliputian perspectives. Super excited to do a few laps in that bathroom.
  • The Star Ocean remake's prettied up PS1 JRPG aesthetic is soooo nice. Wishlist material for sure.
  • Another gosh dang Warioware! Woooow. I think I like the kooky motion controls for this better than Get It Together (not that Get It Together was bad).
  • Knew it was too early for TotK DLC. But Nintendo should now a metric ton of people would be there day one when that drops.
  • What even is Super Mario Wonder?! I am utterly in love with its stop-motion acid-trip weirdness with the crawling pipes and talking flowers. It's so weird! So weird! I want it, I want it NOW.

He will not last long. Probably just another guy with YouTube connections.

Don’t want to come across as obsessed… but the rumours of WW/TP on switch came from Emily Rogers right? It was a long time ago now, I know.

It was first hinted at by Andy Robinson when Skward Sword HD was announced (in a condescending tweet that was something along the lines of "At least one good Zelda game is coming to switch and it's not Skyward Sword").

It died down until Jeff Grubb and Mike Mignotti started talking about them on their podcast. Now, it was always apparent that when Jeff and Mike were talking about them they were coming at it from the angle of "Nintendo wants a Zelda game per fiscal year and that it made sense due to all the Wii U ports". It was clear, if you watched them regularly, that they were speaking from a place of wanting the games to exist and teying to logic them into existence more than anything. You are probably better off just hooking up the Wii U if you really want to revist them.

So I Wonder if TotK DLC will be in September or in a Twitter drop before. I still absolutely think that it will get DLC, it would be dumb to not do it. I just would have thought you get that out now, when the game is still fresh to get as many to buy it as possible. But maybe there is merit in delaying the announcement that I can’t think of.

DLC1 for BotW released almost exact 4 months after the game. If it’s somewhat the same for TotK we would look at early to mid September maybe as a shadowdrop in a direct.

Mahoosive gap between Pikmin 4 next month and Detective Pikachu Returns on October 6th from Nintendo. September's been a regular fixture for a first party release in the Switch era, so colour me suspicious.

Given two of the holiday releases are lower priced titles (WarioWare and Detective Pikachu), I'm suspecting a September title might yet pop up. A GC remaster in a pre-TGS Direct, or another EPD 4 title, would be front runners.

So now that we know Nintendo's lineup for the rest of the year, do y'all agree or disagree that we live in the Dringest Timeline? imo this Direct was pretty validating for the "2023 is a quiet year aside from TotK" camp aside from SMBW, and even that is the only major* original release of H2 with a (beautiful-looking) SNES remake occupying the Holiday slot.

*major as in it has significant penetration to both casual and hardcore audiences

I see that argument, but then again.... why not just show it, anounce it for switch, and when the new console gets anounced expand the platform list? There is no reason to not do that. This to me feels more like:
we dont have enough first party games to show for the shareholders,
we need to give them a sneak peak, but are not really ready for it!

that peach game reveal was so bizarre. im down for a new peach game, it looks visually great, but i dont even know what genre it is
Yeah... just as i was "now well see ACTUAL gameplay"... its done.
I think if they would have released key art instead, it would have shown way more of the game then the clip they showed. I simply don't count it for this direct, because its simply not enough.

I'm now of the belief that Nintendo is going to shadowdrop a port/remaster of an old title at every direct going forward until we get the Switch 2. I could see Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, F-Zero, or Paper Mario shadowdropping in September.

Nintendo can prove me right or wrong in September, but they've done it twice in a row now, and I see no reason for them to stop.

a Metroid Prime 2 shadowdrop in a September Direct would make sense, especially if they also put a Prime 4 trailer with a 2024 date in that same Direct

I know people are hungry for any taste of the new hardware but the Princess Peach game does not look next gen lmao

Yes, Luigi's Mansion 2 is going to be a showcase of new hardware. A 3DS port. That totally makes sense.

Anyway, kudos to Pyoro for being genuine but he needs to go away next time. I want surprises in my Directs.

Oh, yeah no, I think they’re coming to Nintendo Switch… Just like how Breath of the Wild came to Wii U.
Honestly, none of those games are big enough to launch on the next console... That's just for main Zelda, 3D Mario and may be Metroid Prime tier games imo
