So let's say that I told you there can be a Nintendo Direct next week that..

  • Announces Switch 2
  • Announces new 3D Mario
  • Announces DLC for TotK alongside Switch 2 version of the game

BUT, at some point there is a clip where they say. "We'd like to share some news about Metroid Prime 4. Unfortunately the game has been cancelled"

Do you take it?
Honestly, yes. I'm the biggest Metroid Prime fan ever, but since I don't think that would be the end of 3D Metroid games, then I could wait for a much better 3D Metroid experience in the future, with much more powerful hardware.

Make TOTK a free update (as it should, and probably will, be), and you have a deal.

While I'm most excited to see gameplay and visuals in Metroid Prime 4, I'm also hoping to see a better-looking logo. The one they threw together 6 years ago was just the Metroid Prime 3 logo with a huge 4.

So are we feeling a general direct, Mini, or Partner showcase? Sounds like the insiders are not totally sure, but first party news is likely?
Regular or Mini is likeliest by virtue of the simple fact that Nintendo's release calendar is empty after Pikmin 4.

General, just because they haven't done a standard Mini in so long (and they only did the one because of COVID). I could see them going with a Mini if they have a couple smaller 1st-party announcements, but I'm Team MP4 so general all the way

I think we can safely rule out a Partner showcase. Whether it’s a Direct or Mini, we won’t know until it happens.
yeah I'm inclined to agree simply because of Pikmin 4. To me that's been the wildcard. I just couldn't convince myself that they'd do a little specialized direct for Pikmin 4 or just put out a sizeable video on youtube to talk about it. So everything pointed to a general or a mini where they spend 5 minutes on it like they usually do for a game that's coming out soon. The thing is, Grubb hearing something about July makes me think that's some partner direct stuff so then this month is a first party mini? I don't know. I don't think that makes sense either lmfao. However, we're gonna hear from Grubb tonight at the earliest.

What if the whole “don’t discount June” means that there is a Direct in June AND July?

One General and then one being either Partner, Indie, or Mini?

You'd have to ask what possible reason there'd be for that. Only scenario I could see would be that Nintendo have successfully kept hardware largely under wraps and it's coming this year. But with Nikkei saying spring 2024 at the earliest, I'm assuming that's not happening.

Then you'd have to ask: what possible other reason would there be to go through two presentations in consecutive months when a single 45 to 50 minute general Direct could get the job done?

Then factor in that Nintendo will want to leave space for other things - whether that's Pokemon Presents or Pikmin 4's marketing. Just seems highly unlikely there'd be any need for anything other than a general presentation.

Dang I'm starting to hype myself up, but I don't want to get let down like last June.
You and I are in the same boat. Wanting to believe in something good happening this month against better judgement...but man I am too fragile if this doesn't pan out the way I want it to haha

Oh I agree that’s it’s highly unlikely that what I said is right. But it’s Nintendo we’re talking about here lmao.

Perhaps a Pokemon Direct in June then a General in July? Again, I doubt that, but that’s what I’m trying to get at here.

I fully believe that there is a General Direct in June. But Grubb could be right in that maybe a Pikmin Direct or something is in July.

I won’t allow a Partner showcase. Sorry to those that want one.

Smash characters are done and Zelda is out so they’re no longer the default ‘one more thing’.

It’s Prime time babyyyyyyyy.

Nintendo Japan hasn't been tweeting anything since they last tweeted 3 days ago.

B is obviously A rendered in 4K resolution (I mean, look at the hair detail). Switch 2, because B = 2.

Nintendo Switch B (includes whole script of Bee Movie in the OS).

If you Discount June 50% that leaves you with Ju which is the end of the word Kaiju

Nintendo are releasing a Kaiju game
But the first half of June is over so we're left with "ne", and if you remove the Ns and the E from Nintendo, you're left with "itdo".

Could be an anagram for "do it", signifying a Mario/Nike crossover, or maybe it just means "it do", because it do be like that sometimes.

Or it could be Todi, Toad’s unmentioned brother, starting in the next adventure title Captain Todi’s Trisure Trickers

I wonder if the cool non direct thing we are expecting today happens in 30 minutes? Usually that's the time for Directs to air in summer time.

I definitely think there'll be a Pokemon Presents soon. Probably after a general Direct, because I'd pick next week as Direct time.

Pikmin definitely gets more promotion, so maybe a Direct for that, too. Easy to forget Nintendo will do multiple presentations for different things because of the laser focus on general Directs.

gonna have to put a few people on my ignore list after this...
