See that's the thing! I heard about the character in Clone Wars, and then got to the movie and was like "that's it?!" and realized there were plot beats that weren't in the movie that the script was absolutely responding to.
TIL Grievous wasn't just a random villain of the week spawning out of nowhere and actually had character development in a separate show I never watched.

Guess I should watch Clone Wars some day

Couldn't find a dedicated eShop/sales thread, but in EU there's currently a discount on Diablo games and it seems the "Prime Evil Collection" bundle (which has Diablo 2 & 3) at ~19€ is cheaper than Diablo 3 itself at 30€, although discounted as well.
It doesn't really make sense but make the whole bundle much more interesting so that should be noted if that's interesting for anyone!

Didn't someone from S-E publicly confirm something like that in the past?
Yeah, it was around XIII's launch that one of the leads said something like that. They've practically (and evidently?) been chasing these kinds of visuals and action ever since, and probably to the games' detriment for the most part.

Omg, it's funny because Meteor 🤣

Yep, the FFXIII devs said the Paradigm system was inspired by their desire to have in-game battles look like the choreographed battles from Advent Children, because the only way to do it properly would be to have attacks automated. So we can partially blame that movie for the loss of the menu-based FF battle systems.

I figure this may be of interest for anyone who hasn't been keeping up with Sakurai's youtube channel, he put out a great vid today with a lot of info about and footage of the "PRESS START" orchestral concerts he's been involved in:

(there's a great Zelda arrangement by Yuzo Koshiro, among others)

Now you need to decide if you're going to watch Star Wars: Clones, the animated TV show that came out before Episode III, or watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the CGI series that came out after Episode III.

I'd actually recommend watching the original. I'm not sure if it's canon anymore but episodes are only 5 to 15 minutes long. It's a very easy watch.

Honestly I've been rewatching Animaniacs as "background" noise for a while (as in I only get work done inbetween the end credits until it autoplays the opening theme song again lol), but for as many episodes as there are I do expect to run out before long so I could use another quick bite show like that to watch haha

The show started out as just mini, stand-alone episodes that Cartoon Network would play in between other the shows but they got more ambitious as they went along which is why episodes are 15 minutes long by Season 3. It's a very fast paced show that gets your right into the action. The final episodes which lead directly into Episode III are probably some of the best Star Wars content I've seen.

Ooooh, are we talking Tartakovsky's Clone Wars here? Awesome. And while some characters seem considerably stronger there than in canon, Grievous has one hell of an explanation as for why he appears so relatively weak in Episode III
Having your internal organs Force crushed by a Jedi Master will do that to you
In an industry that wants Xbox Series S gone because of its limitations, that solution won't work. They're literally saying "we just want more power, we don't care about what its costs are".
Then I'm looking forward to find out which project will be the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back for Bamco, because if they don't budge, neither will the customers, and some shareholder is bound to eventually ask at some point "Why on Earth are we sending all these projects to die just like that?"
It's obvious that quick cash is not what they're looking for and Sand Land definitely looks like an artistic endeavor (honestly, why this? Because of the movie? Jump right now tons of hot as hell manga waiting for video game tie ins, like Jujutsu Kaisen or Chainsaw Man). Every decision about the game feels personal, from genre to its target platforms. First UE5 anime game and it's... Sand Land.
Sand Land is no passion project. It's a multimedia endeavor in which Bandai Namco, Shueisha and a whole bunch of other companies are working together to see if they can turn a relatively minor brand into a full IP (their words, not mine). As for why they chose Sand Land in particular, someone probably thought that they could sell it even to people who aren't manga/anime enthusiasts by leaning on the "From the creator of Dragon Ball!" angle.

My brain debating between continuing to listen to the LISA series OSTs or doing another run through the modern Persona OSTs today at work is the epitome of #FirstWorldProblem

Also, all I want from the MS presentation this weekend is an update on She Dreams Elsewhere

We haven’t had one in a while, make a thread!

Women have excellent tastes! Although I think the percentage on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are slight skewed because I think men are more likely to buy their expensive toys early.

The whole 2 disc thing seems to have people thinking you’ll actually swap discs during FFVIIRebirth’s gameplay lol. No, it just has a gigantic file size! The disc drives aren’t fast enough to read while playing.

50% of PC video game players are female (+1% vs YA)
54% of mobile video game players are female (+1% vs YA)
52% of Swich consoles are female owned

This is hardly surprising given "casual" games (whose audience skewed female) shifted from PC to mobile, PC still has a lot more options for "non-traditional" games due to a lower barrier to entry for developers, and Switch sits somewhere in between the two

It's amazing how aliens and E3 leaks only make themselves known to people with the shittiest cameras (or conveniently have none at all).

I have a backlog like most people here, but I found that I've been really good with playing through all my physical switch games. Out of all 38 that I own, I have finished (or gotten enough out of) 36. Then there's Tears of the Kingdom, which I'm close to finishing, and Bayonetta 3, which I got for Christmas but haven't started (oops).

My steam, PS4, and PS5 libraries on the other hand... let's not talk about those.

Justice League 2017 was definitely a movie. I think I liked it more than Suicide Squad? I don’t know. I’ll probably watch the Snyder version later.

Yeah, I can't think of any sane reason why ILCA freaking went for UE5 for a manga relatively unknown in the west but quite popular in Japan. And this studio worked for Nintendo before for a game eventually sold 15 million. Sand Land is literally sent to bomb and they're ok with it.

I always remember Deep Rock Galactic dev's comment about Switch port "Yes, we could have made more money with a Switch version but that's extra work for us and sometimes money isn't everything". They're right in a way. Devs are artists and sometimes they do art for arts sake. Even if it means losing money.
Sand Land is developed by ILCA? That's interesting. I wonder if that lowers the chance of a ILCA Pokemon game coming in the next couple of years.

you know I'm super excited for FFXVI, my most anticipated game of the year, but releasing this awesome FF7 Rebirth trailer 2 weeks before the release of FFXVI isn't the smartest marketing decision...
The internal rivalry is pityful.

No swap no buy

For digital buyers, they should install two icons onto the console’s home screen, and partway through the game they make you close one game and open the other.
(this would have the added benefit of not needing the whole game installed at once)

I am a cringe zoomer that hasn’t played a game with multiple discs, how did that even work? Like you got to a point of the game and it says “insert second disc to continue”?

In the PS1 days, yes. You would get to a certain point and the game would tell you to open the system and swap discs. Normally you save right before that happens as well in case the system accidently crashes or shuts off.

Typically they would come at huge narrative points in the game.

Final Fantasy has a long way to go before they match the 6 CDs Unreal Tournament 2004 came on.
That and The Sims 2 shipping with a DVD option is what pushed me to get a DVD drive for my desktop 😂

Famicom Disk Systems also had to do this which is mindboggling to see in action on things like Metroid and Legend of Zelda

(PC games too obviously back in the 80s. "Floppy budget" was a thing for games then)

Resi 4 on Gamecube had that during the boat ride to the island

Pretty sure Remake had an install and game disc on ps4, surprised they've made such a big deal of it for rebirth... and that people forgot they did the same thing for remake 😂

To be fair, PS5 discs hold like twice as much as PS4 ones, so it means this game is massive (the PS5 version of Remake was on one disc).

Good point, going from essentially a whole lot of corridors to full open world is a jump to be sure. Gosh darn I can't wait for it, I'm one of those sick twisted fucks who loved the compilation so I'm real psyched about the story changes.

I'm right there with you, I cannot fucking wait for this game.

I don’t even think a Pikmin 4 Direct is likely, considering from the Japanese website it said we’d get 2 more smaller trailers showing off Oatchi/mechanics. Maybe a final trailer could be used in a Mini Direct at the end of this month or early July

I could absolutely see there being a Treehouse Live event for it depending on how hard Nintendo wants to push it. The series always has felt like it’s one game away from a breakout moment but hasn’t connected with the mainstream for some reason.

While I wasn’t a huge fan of some of the story changes in the compilation (mainly Genesis,) Remake really turned me around. I’m really excited for the future.

Lol at this United agenda for my flight:

BgUWx7B.jpg

You mean I get to Depart AND Arrive? Wow!

Although that “your flight may not follow this exact agenda” warning has me a bit worried…
Can confirm, if the flight doesn't depart they give you snacks that teleport you to your arrival destination
