Whenever Team January shows up to the discussion to talk about "winning"

Hello everyone, am Yoshiaki Koizumi and I will be your guide for today's Nintendo Direct. What you've just seen is the latest trailer for Pikmin 4, the latest Captain's Olimar adventure begins next month, we hope you look forward to it. And speaking of which, stay tuned for Pikmin 4 Direct after this presentation, which will provide an in depth look for this title. Let's see our first batch of Nintendo Switch headlines.
What you just saw was the next step for 2D Mario, and the first from-the-ground-up 2D installment in the series for console in 11 years. The game launches November 17, so please look forward to it. Now for some more Nintendo Switch headlines. snaps fingers

I don't want to get too excited for this. Can anyone confirm if this is new?
Nobody has talked about this before today. Someone a couple pages earlier said they got a promotional email from Nintendo with that link. It looks like it's only up on European Nintendo websites right now.

If there's no Direct this month I'll continue to play Tears of the Kingdom and whine about my RPG backlog.

either insider consensus is wrong or lukas is wrong. we're in for a paradigm shift no matter what
We still got time for insider stuff though, many Directs before were not talked really before airing, especially February 2022 and 2023, these were mentioned roughly around week before happening. We still got time for that, at the end of the day it's just usually Nate and Grubb hearing something, noone else these days.

they knew sooner though iirc

this is different. they're expressly saying no

I also have little interest in teasing or sharing knowledge of a Direct.

Look if you think we're going to be silenced by trivialities like "there literally hasn't been a Direct in January since 2018, and that was a Mini" or "just because you keep saying you always win doesn't mean you've actually won" you have clearly underestimated us

Too early to bring "Insiders don’t know because they have third party sources and this is a first party exclusive Direct" copium back?
My copium is that insiders do know about a summer Direct but are keeping tight-lipped and watching this community to see where our allegiance lies.

Didn't the September Direct last year come out of nowhere? IIRC we barely had any rumors for it.
If I remember correctly is was basically a open secret that there was going to be a September direct but he queen died and everyone started panicking that the direct would be delayed.

Grubb started talking about it early September, it happened on 13th. I was also doing my September 1st theory and Nate outright said then it's not September 1st. I remember Grubb was only one saying the week of 13th, then a few hours before announcement Emily leaked the airing date which was different than usually, which lead people to believe it's gonna be a Partner.

I feel like September Directs are just treated as inevitable for the most part, but I do think we got some teases for it last time

Do optometrists count towards doctor's appointment theory? Because mine is on June 14th.

Unless spa appointment with a manicurist also holds that theory on June 13th

Oh yeah, I remember that whole thing now. Nevermind then. I might be thinking of another Direct.

Even if we don't get a Direct this month, I think another first party game reveal before the end of the month is a given. So at least we have that to look forward to.

But you are team August, our army does not need you.
Hey whether he orders some June or not, it's good to know it's at least on the menu

afaik it's any sort of health-related appointment that could keep you from missing the Direct, so yes

curious that you and I both happen to have appointments on the 13th 👀

(early) august is the fun team because it's neither desperately optimistic nor fatalistic

it's the quirked up team that won't quit until august 31st

I mean, getting my nails painted is for my mental health (eco-anxiety today woooooo) so technically it counts (but so help me if this now means a 5PM EST Direct 😂)

NateDrake thinks he's out of the insider game, free to spend time with his wife and play Crash Bandicoot. But one day, his long lost brother who was never mentioned before in prior games shows up after escaping from prison and tells him he needs Nate's help for one last job, to steal information related to the 3D Mario game. Nate agrees to help, lying to his wife stating that he'll about of town for a salvaging job of old Sega news. And so begins Nate's final steal...

Are other communities more tolerant when leakers get things wrong and the Nintendo one is just particularly a toxic hell? Or is it hell everywhere? Or is it also that it's easier to leak non Nintendo things so those leaks are usually more accurate, leading to less toxicity?

At this point I'm expecting them to just wait until September when they will, in addition to software announcements, finally announce a long overdue price drop for the switch.
