PlayStation PlayStation Showcase announced (May 24th, 1 PM PDT / 9 PM BST)

That was not a good showcase at all. Every game I'm interested in sans Spider-Man 2 I could buy on my Xbox.

Fingers crossed Microsoft has a much stronger showing next month.
 
I'm normally disappointed and underwhelmed by directs but man even the worst direct is skies above that. Terrible, just awful.

Also unpopular opinion but the Spiderman games are really boring, like super safe and dull. Doesn't help that I don't care about the source material.
 
Terrible overall showcase. Outside of being the newest Playstation machine there's really been no reason to have a PS5 at the moment. Not that I have buyers remorse with mine but I'm really surprised at how little sony's first party output has been.

Probably since it's a pretty anticipated game, I appreciate it over the CGI trailers which tell me nothing about how a game plays, hate those!

Also Spider-Man 2 is doing the black-suit drama angle and Kyle Bosman is going to have a field day with this.

Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2 look incredible, the rest of the games either had little to no gameplay, weren't my kind of games, or looked outright bad.

Personal, subjective opinion:

The only games that actually interest me are Plucky Squire (was already announced), that Granblue Fantasy game (although I know nothing about the game/series) and Dragons Dogma 2.

Dragons Dogma 2 really saved this for me, and I will get that game day 0!

Yeah it wasn't the best showcase I've seen from Sony. There are a few intriguing titles but outside of Spidey, the MGS announcement and the reveal of Bungie's new IP there's nothing really headline grabbing here...

...I mean outside the fact that Alan Wake 2 is this year. And I thought TOTK was going to be my slam dunk GOTY...

The second half of this new trailer already shows a bunch of neat ideas in the real world no?
 
Yeah not really impressed with the Showcase, I get that some will love Spiderman 2 but it's not really my kind of game.
Still nothing that makes me wanna go out and spend a whole lot of money on a PS5 just yet..

Looking forward to play Sword of the Sea and Neva at least, I hope those release on another platform.

Pretty bad showcase ngl, Sony just isn't doing it for me these days. Spidey was the only game that interested me.

That was surprisingly not a very good showcase? Some neat games in there I guess but I expected to see more from Sony.

Edit: Dragons Dogma II was fucking good tho.

Yeah it seemed cool, but sort of safe. I believe in the devs though so will withhold judgement, I imagine it'll surprise me. I suppose we haven't seen enough yet. When is it supposed to come out again?
 
To say my patience with CG only trailers for games with vague release windows is wearing thin is an understatement.
 
Marathon was amazing.....and of course is Multiplayer shooter...for fuck sake Bungie, the FPS base about lore and story? Really?
 
Good thing I had other meetings and could scrub through it. Honestly not much exciting I didn’t know about already.

Alan Wake and Dragon's Dogma 2 will probably be great, but very mid presentation overall. Also not really sure if I'm looking forward to Spidey 2 as much as I wanted to, it looks very similar to the two first games, who already felt a bit dated in terms of gameplay and narration

There were definitely some hitches graphically from what I saw. I don't know if it was the reflections but there were some weird things happening. I thought maybe it was me but I'm seeing a lot of people talk about it lmao. Someone did say the 4k trailer is crisp but idk. I'll have to watch it myself to see.

Last year's trailer said 2023, and this one claims the same, so it's not delayed at least!

Thought that was terrible personally, and I wasn't going in with high expectations as I was not expecting much following Sony closing studios and cancelling projects and was expecting the VR section to be crap (and boy was it ever). Only game that was exciting to me was the very last one which we all knew they were going to show and they still couldn't commit to a date. Other 'shoe-ins' like Astro Bot, Factions and Wolverine were no-shows. Add in a movie trailer for a game series I don't care about and the usual slew of 'Not Actual GameplayTM' and yeah it was very bad and long to boot.

Also, the worst game in that showcase must have been that rich kid influencer foam party Splatoon Clone from SQEX.
