StarTopic The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom |ST| Linkin' Parts (Please Tag All Spoilers)

When Breath of the Wild came out, I saw a green text floating around that said something to the effect of “in 1986, Nintendo brought in a chicken that could lay eggs with the original Legend of Zelda, and everyone liked that. Over time other developers took those eggs, and started making even cooler stuff like omelets, quiches, etc.. Then Nintendo took notes, did a little experimenting, and with Breath of the Wild, got the chicken to lay a damn cake.”

Looks like the chicken is getting even more ambitious.

The chicken now lays a "Death by chocolate", a chocolate cake, filled with molten chocolate, with chocolate ice cream and choco sauce on top, coming with a hot chocolate drink.

Wait, they are?

Like, I never care much for review scores or aggregates, but there was always something special about them slapping an Essential on some super hype release.

10/5 is basically the same as Essential! ;D

lol Nintendo when people won’t spoil that aspect of dungeons in TotK for others

Yeah. There’s a big, well written article about their reasoning.

I got a message from Amazon Germany that my TotK CE left the warehouse. The app tells me it arrives on Friday but i hope it arrives tomorrow… Does anyone have experience with preorders on Amazon?

Will remain on the lookout for any BARGO BUSTERS dropping breadcrumbs about TotK's critical reception...

Dunno man, if they made it this far ... i would find it massively amusing if they couldn't keep back anymore, Leeeeeroy Jenkins'd something out and get their outlet blacklisted for breaking embargo a day before said embargo runs out. ^^

Checks Amazon.de order page, no update, not dispatched

Why does Amazon Germany like you more than me? I hate you now.

No, i don't hate you.

;_;

Almost all of them have arrived on the day. However, a couple of times it has arrived a day later. That’s not much and happened only with 3D All Stars (pandemic 2020) and with Metroid Dread.

Nintendo's been so strict that they apparently accidentally DMCA'd a screenshot from their own Twitter account xD . So yeah, I'd be very nervous about doing anything funky.

also sheesh buying the thing digital as a backup is 70 buckeroos...

This is one of the casesd where the Vouchers are actually the cheaper way to get.

Just realized that when the next new 3D Zelda releases, I will be done with uni, have a proper job and children.
This will probably be the last time that I can devour a 3D Zelda release without caring about any (bigger) responsibilities.

As much as I love the TotK theme I might have to go back to dark mode, my poor eyes. Unless there's a King's Revival theme round the corner 👀

Every time I think about Ultrahand, my mind is racing.

I'm going to chop down a bunch of tree logs and build a Jenga tower.
I'm going to get two rockets and have them face each other just to see what happens.
I'm going to glue a Korok to a fan and make it tumble away.
I'm going to put 5 sails on a raft to watch how fast it goes.
I'm going to put a bunch of flamethrowers on a wheel and burn myself to death with it.
Etc.

Come on Nintendo! Don’t let me down and surprise me! Prove to us that this sadistic strategy of not showing anything in three years except a boring video of Aonuma making a boat will pay off big time… Let me feel like when I played BOTW for the first time and importantly like when I saw this:

The ultrahand ability has my mind on fire. Especially after the gameplay demo and seeing how many things in the background were interact-able when Eiji activated it. The physics engine was already robust and now they've added so many more possibilities. I can only imagine how many headaches those devs had to deal with.

I don't remember who said it, but seeing the demonstration and the previews, the game went from "Why is it taking six years?" to "They did all of this in only six years?"

lol I was gonna say a while ago how for some reason when people talk about Ultrahand they mostly talk about making weird vehicles, but like personally first thing I want to make is like a little fort or barrier I can hide behind, maybe attach some lasers or flamethrowers, and then plop it down somewhere dangerous and retreat there when necessary.

I keep thinking about building houses out of the materials on those foundation things. I don't imagine they'll persist but it would be nice if there's maybe an extended version of the Tarry Town quest involving ultrahand.

I wish I would have researched the voucher system earlier. So it saved you $20 on the game and you get another game from the other voucher?
Yup. The voucher is $100 USD, and you can use it on 2 first party games. If they're typical $60 releases, you're saving $10 apiece, so for TotK, you're effectively knocking off $20.

Part 3 has things some might consider spoilers; but others may be more excited from reading it. Especially if you're still concerned about dungeons.

bizarre. gunna tag my response JIC
so fucking weird how Nintendo wouldn't even say the word dungeon until now. what was the point?

Before: "Mr. Aonuma, please give us some stuff we can do markting with, screens, info, footage!"
Aonuma: "No."

---

Now: "Mr. Aonuma, are you there?"
"The person you're calling is in vacation for a month, please try it on a later date."
"QUICK, HE'S GONE! TAKE EVERYTHING YOU CAN FIND!"

Nintendo’s modern marketing strategy is on full display with TotK. We live in an age where trends rise and fall on the order of days, where viral memes spread over the internet in hours. In an age like this, it makes sense to bring out the “big guns” much closer to release in an effort to create a white-hot moment of hype to drive sales as opposed to spreading out info over a longer time. To me, this was obvious a few months ago when many folks were complaining about the marketing for TotK; and it’s something that Nintendo fans are going to have to adjust to.

Man I expect my rate of nervous posting to go through the roof by tomorrow night. Sorry in advance.
ONE OF US!!! ONE OF US!!!

You and me both friend. Here we are. Weary from the battle to avoid spoilers, staring with vacant eyes across the pre-release battlefield. Ahead looms the closed gates of Fort Hateno. Written across the gates in large, malice red letters "accessing the internet to verify license".

2006 was the last Zelda without kids and a real job for me, oh the times...
Full time working with 3 kids now and handheld Switch is a godsend in that regard.
Enjoy your endeavour and embrace it for times WILL change and with it, the way you consume games. 😎

The chicken is striking against animal exploitation and opening their own vegan food chain.

I'm currently at the denial stage. Not wanting to be over optimistic but seeing comments left and right, it's hard to to...

My CE hasn't shipped from Walmart, and I'm starting to get antsy. I'm considering canceling my regular Best Buy pre-order to just buy the game digitally, instead of having a spare physical to trade in later.

What do I do? 😭

Cancel your order, get the digital version via Vouchers, and get an extra game out of it.

So I work from home.

Fiber connection just shit the bed. After hour plus of troubleshooting and on the phone with support, a technician is gonna have to come out and fix it tomorrow. Something is wrong with my optical cable it seems.

I called my boss and she was totally cool with it. I have free day! Yay. But still no Tears of the Kingdom....

Why oh why could this not have happened on Friday?

Fuses raw meat to an arrow before firing it past a group of bokoblins to distract them before sneaking up on them

I call this move, The Meat and Greet

The music starting and link skydiving past the building with the camera rotating is my favorite shot in that whole last trailer.
Oh yes, it's such a striking shot. And the music is just phenomenal; I know a lot of people reacted a lot hearing the classic Zelda theme, but for me it's the soaring strings with that beautiful melody right before that gets me.

I really really hope you will be able to build some structures/bases. It would be nice if you could build them anywhere and they would stick around but that is probably not realistic. I am hoping that there will be some designated areas where you can build and what you build will stay. Maybe like a plot in each village/town or something.
