Welp, now I'm (kinda) glad I got an OLED model when my two chargers died last year.
At least I guess this means that MP4 should launch before that.

Jokes on you, I skipped the Wii U. So the jump from 3DS to Switch was pretty impressive, and I'm still coasting on that high 7 years down the line.I'm not being sarcastic.
The Switch is graphically/visually very similar to the Wii U, which in turn is very similar to the PS360.
As a Nintendo fan, we've been seeing the same graphics for over a decade now.
I'm eagerly awaiting the new console because we're finally going to be playing Nintendo games with PS4 level of graphics.
2025 sounds right. Even if they continue the BCP, they’d probably be done before the next console launches.Let's say that the next Nintendo system is holiday 2024. Does that set up the next new Mario Kart for 2025? The dlc is finished after this year and it certainly hasn't been worked on by the A team. That game makes the most sense to get out within ~18 months of the system, if not sooner.

I think there's a pretty good chance you see those games between holiday 2024 and holiday 2025:Let's say that the next Nintendo system is holiday 2024. one can only hope. I think they can go with a Mario 3D game at launch followed by Mario Kart a few months later.Let's say that the next Nintendo system is holiday 2024. Kid Icarus Uprising HDYeah I was wondering if they might sneak it out by March next year to give their financials a big boost at the end, but doesn't seem likely now. Feels like September - November 2024 is the likeliest time this comes out now.
I imagine Nintendo still have a couple of biggish Switch games in the bank for the coming 18 months or so, but definitely would expect them to go on that rumoured porting spree from Pikmin 4 onwards.
Never yahaha'd a post so hardExpect disappointment and you'll never be disappointed
And nobody will want to hang out with you or talk to you because ur no fun
first??Ah the first rumblings are here, cool.
2024 is what we all are expecting anyway
Haha, we’ve heard earlier reports, but to my untrained eye it seemed… vague. This is the first time I’m seeing these type of comments from Nikkei, but I might have missed somethingfirst??
Seems good to me. Plenty of fun to be had with my Switch still with Zelda almost here.
Guess we’ll also see Dragon Quest 3 HD2D this year.
Not sure this is even the right Nikkei.Haha, we’ve heard earlier reports, but to my untrained eye it seemed… vague. This is the first time I’m seeing these type of comments from Nikkei, but I might have missed something
I mean....how would it look if Nintendo were pessimistic? Specifically to investors. Companies are going to try an be as positive as they can possibly be unless it's impossible to ignore some bad story.Yeah, pessimism =/= realism and it's kind of getting annoying seeing people somehow be more negative on sales and news than a capitalistic company.
I have a "friend" with this mindset and he’s never pleasantly surprised. I hope it works for you though.Turn-based combat replaced with TOK style combat

I feel like Metroid Prime 4 would have to be something special for it to be a launch game. It's pretty risky to go with Metroid as your Day 1 launch game. It's not going to be Zelda so I think only Mario Kart or Mario 3D can really be that launch game. I'm sure there is another one that I'm blanking on lmao. I almost threw in AC but as big of a AC fan(and I'm an insane fan lol) I don't think that would work either. That's your summer game. (Or you know...whenever the next pandemic is lol)I do think that, if we're still a good 18 months out from a successor, that there must still be 3 or so non-port games Nintendo have up their sleeve to keep things ticking over until then (I'm kinda of the opinion that Metroid Prime 4 will be saved as a Switch 2 launch title now).
A Mario game of some kind to tie into the movie makes a lot of sense, so that'd be one. But what else? Could be a good chance for a franchise that has yet to get its own unique Switch entry, such as DK, Starfox or Kid Icarus. Something Pokemon related would be a good shout (did we ever hear anything more regarding Detective Pikachu 2?). Maybe Platinum could rustle up Astral Chain 2 as I recall they were keen to make that a trilogy.
That's kind where I was at tbh. I didn't rule out a release later this year because BC but it's weird lol.Well there you go. 2024 it is. Personally, I always thought it was clearly 2024 ever since Nintendo announced that the Mario Kart 8 booster pack DLC would finish in 2023. Now I wonder if they have anything for this holiday that's not a Gamecube remake.
The only way I see MP4 being a launch tittle is if Nintendo thinks the game has potential to reach a wider audience & likely become something like BotW was for the Switch.I feel like Metroid Prime 4 would have to be something special for it to be a launch game. Yeah that's kinda what I was getting at. I would love for that to be the case, especially for Metroid fans. I just don't know what that looks like. Maybe a more open world but not BoTW open lol. I remember trying to get into Prime with the 3rd game. I was very interested in it but it felt too claustrophobic, especially in that era. It kinda made me feel it wasn't my series. The only way I see MP4 being a launch tittle is if Nintendo thinks the game has potential to reach a wider audience & likely become something like BotW was for the Switch.
whoops, I definitely didn’t mean to be passiveA little passive aggressive lol
Expect expectation and you'll always be expecting and never not expecting to expect that the unexpected might be expected unless that's within your existing expectations
What
I actually kinda disagree on that because I think the nature of console launches has changed. It's less about having an amazing lineup day 1, more about having an amazing year 1 planned out, stretching into year 2 if possible. The stars aligned for BOTW being the Switch's launch game, but I don't think Nintendo need one of their mega IPs ready at dawn. People will still be hyped if the console launches with Metroid while knowing that a Mario/Zelda/Animal Crossing type hit is a few months down the line.I feel like Metroid Prime 4 would have to be something special for it to be a launch game. It would probably look like what BotW stated goal is, “breaking series conventions.” At least for me the writing portions of Metroid need to do better. A whole universe & there is just question marks on even basic things.Yeah that's kinda what I was getting at. I would love for that to be the case, especially for Metroid fans. Although I did get MP Remastered. Just haven't gotten to it yet because of backlog. It's probably next after ToTK unless I get Advance Wars.

I wouldn't say you are wrong but I just think things are different for Nintendo tbh. As for the Ps5. I just think the brand of Playstation sets the bar so low for Sony to have to clear. But I could be wrong and I'm grasping at a straw to defend my position lmfao.I actually kinda disagree on that because I think the nature of console launches has changed. The thing to factor in these days is that any new console is likely to be very supply constrained. We'll probably have to wait a few months - maybe even longer - for supply to become readily available. If that's the case, do you pull the trigger on a new Mario game day 1, knowing it's could be releasing to a smaller audience, or do you wait a few months until the holidays when suddenly there's more consoles on sale? If you pick the latter option, Metroid Prime 4 seems to be the perfect game to be there at launch in Mario's place, to appeal to the enthusiasts who will be battling over pre-orders for that first wave of stock. That way they can save the big guns for down the line.
If this seems an odd strategy, consider that this is basically what Sony did with the PS5. They didn't launch that with a God of War or a Horizon or a Last of Us (heck they could easily have delayed Last of Us Part II for the PS5 launch if they wanted). No instead they launched with a Demons Souls remaster and an expansion for Spider-Man. And yet it didn't harm sales for that console in any way, because gamers knew the big hitters woul eventually come. In the meantime, early adopters got a super duper hardcore remake with flashy graphics to gawp at. Nintendo could easily replicate that trick with Metroid if they wanted.
I don't agree, with the switch we've seen the rise of evergreen sellers, games that just kept on selling for years and years without stopping. I think dropping the console with a huge game like a 3d mario that will just keep on selling from day 1 until the rest of the console life is a big incentive to drive interest and WoM for the console.I actually kinda disagree on that because I think the nature of console launches has changed. I feel like consumers are willing to give playstation more leeway with waiting for big games to come than they are with Nintendo. Nearly every launch lineup they have has been lackluster. There is a reason Knack has been the butt of jokes since the ps4 launchI actually kinda disagree on that because I think the nature of console launches has changed. Imagine if it followed Wii U-era marketing and was called Swiitch. That seems about right.
Also I hope they call it Super Switch. Please.
