StarTopic Xenoblade 3: Future Redeemed |ST| Ontos the Next One

Omg he said it

After a rain in Colony 9 and the sunshine came back out Shulk actually said "the breeze feels so good ❤️❤️❤️

I'm at the big platform near the Prison Island Rest Camp, I know there's a fight coming up that will segue directly into the finale and would like to know how long it will be till credits

About an hour

So, uh, does anyone have any strategies for dealing with this
When Rex is built properly, I don’t think there is an answer. He does too much damage, too quickly for the tanks to keep up.

Rex is my boy so I started investing in him early and it soon became obvious he’s easily the strongest character in the game (with Glimmer being a good foil for him).

People are still feeling their way through the game, but as of right now, double spinning edge is too strong… along with the rest of his broken arts.

Nobody is gonna get this but I gotta get it off my chest

i'm pretty sure some uniques drop Nopon medals so you probably just haven't killed enough of those

as for the affinity kit i'm pretty sure I know which one you're missing

an affinity kit spawns on the cliffs around the island you're on(have to do a bit of jumping down the cliff to reach it) when you kill the level 70 unique at the shrine near colony 9 where you did the ouroboros powers quest
Yeah, that was the kit I was missing. Got it before doing the UM there.

As far as I can tell, all of the Nopon medals are in containers. If there's a UM with one, it's gotta be one of the 70+ dudes, because I've killed all the others

Totally agree. I think Shulk and especially Nikol are a bit flat in this game in my opinion. Weakest two party members for me.
It is weird how Shulk pretty much doesn't have any conflict (other than the main plot itself), and Nikol's problems are resolved in the same conversations in which he first brings them up.

I'm not through yet, so maybe it'll change, but Glimmer feels as if she'd have been better served with a game that could've spent a little more time on her. Her feelings on everything made sense, but as least as far as I've gotten, she's kinda just tagged along since expressing her frustrations with the group. It's not the weirdest thing, but more of a window into how her perspective is developing would be nice.

I get why they're not doing that with a more limited scope though; it's essentially a rehash of a common character beat from Xeno 3, and there's more interesting stuff to do with Matthew/A and the returning heroes.

For, uh, no particular reason, have you completed the gem furnace side quest yet?

Staying mostly off the internet while playing FR, then coming back after finishing it to find out that literally everyone had been playing like this was one of the funniest experiences I’ve ever had
Run from it, hide from it, you can’t escape the double spinning edge!

He just feels really fun to play. I enjoy most of the characters, but Rex feels so spammy and overpowered, it’s hard not to gravitate to him.

Didn't twig it myself, but saw in Enel’s video *(after I’d finished the game) that you can essentially combo lock enemies with some of his fusion arts.

Where you up to? I have a few thoughts, but don’t want to spoil anything…

Early chapter 4. Got back to town and have those two quests that can be done in either order. Haven't completed either; I'm aware that one of them looks like it's character development for Nikol and Glimmer, but I've done a decent bit of it and so far I'm not particularly impressed.

The better story moments have been coming at the conclusion of quests, though.

no idea on the medal thing then maybe one fell off a ledge and despawned for you or something, I don't think any of them are in the open or from quests or whatever

Something that confuses me - what actually triggers Shulk's awakened state? I don't think I've ever seen it, much less noticed what causes it. Yet he has two arts that get boosted by it...

it's such a shame that
unlocking him as a hero in the base game doesn't unlock his class, I really wanted to use it in the gauntlet thing a bit

There are definitely multiple Nopon medals you get from UMs. You probably just missed one. Most likely the one that
spawns around the Corridor of Silence [EDIT: got the names mixed up because they're on top of each other, meant the Gravina Bridge] during the werid upside down lightning weather,
as it's pretty easy to miss.

He gets Awakening the same way everybody else does: By using a Union Strike on a launched enemy.

Not a low bar to clear tbh.

Rematched this dude and got it. No idea why it didn't drop the first time, maybe it's something weird with how he flies

It's possible you just forgot to pick it up. I'm pretty sure drops will get automatically collected if they fall off the terrain, but if they do land nearby, you do have to go over and physically pick them up or they will disappear eventually.

So when you're getting the special mineral to fix the workshop,

did that Igna group you have to fight seem like a Satorl Marsh throwback to anyone else?

The throne with the one bigger guy on it seemed on purpose

Yeah, it was probably supposed to specifically be that location. There's a bunch of minor stuff like that in the game.

Random thoughts so far:

I really like the outfits of the party, especially Matthew, Nikol and Rex

I’ve become very endeared to Nikol

The exploration progression is really good

Love the music I’ve heard so far

Matthew is neat

I'm on chapter 4, about 12 hours in.

I'm really feeling it.

So far there have been moments with my eyes wide, ones with my eyebrow raised and ones with a big smile on my face.

Rex's intro into being playable was hype as hell.

I honestly think I'm enjoying this more than the base game.

I really want to see some of this stuff like the affinity system and the construction carried over into Xenoblade 4.

Yes, the location names match. It's the same place.

The field construction gives the slightest little tickle to my Metroidvania-loving brain and I love it.

so I just finished the fight with our buddy N and uhh

like uhhh

what the fuck yall

Ahh okay, I’ll hold off until you finish up. I think what I’d say is better said in that context.

But while I‘d agree with the general sentiment that the kids are a bit underwritten I do have some positive (and negative) things to say, :)

To be fair, it would probably break the game balance! Would have been cool though!

Shulk not only looks like Dunban but also plays like him. Im really digging this design. Too bad he seems to be underpowered in this game. Nikol takes all the aggro off him and the arts build up really slow. One of his normal arts and his talent art also increase dmg when awakened and that status is rather hard to get. They didn't do him justice ;(

Dodge tanking only really works in X3 in my experience if

1) The player is the dodge tank
2) You combo a large group of enemies
3) (base game only) you rock with 2 dodge tanks

With the right setup, you can do it very quickly. Unity pairing him with Matthew works well, especially if you found

their Lesson in Unity key item, as it boosts their Unity Skill to just starting the battle with the gauge filled outright. You can get awakened on the first launch if you want.

I was even starting a battle from the side with Rex to instant launch, then using Matthew/Shulk's unity combo to become awakened before Shulk even used any arts. As a bonus, it's an AOE so he'll draw aggro from all enemies around him.

I'm enjoying the game, but there are frustrating parts sometimes, especially when it comes to gameplay and combat. There are huge difficulty spikes between normal enemies in an area and its bosses/unique enemies, to a point where i grinded a lot, became considerably overleved for the area but was still defeated by some bosses without much effort. A and Glimmer don't seem to be enough to take care of the healing, i've been focusing on upgrading them with AP and filling them with gems.

Also i don't like the system of unlocking new art slots, neither the enemy bases. I'm probably close to the end right now five levels above the common enemies in my area, and still lacking most of the arts and abilities bacause i didn't do this or that sidequest. The enemy bases feel like stealth missions and i'm not particularly into this.

Are you on hard? On normal I think I died twice the entire game against enemies that weren't clearly way above my level. Both times I just did a pivot of my party builds to better deal with said bosses and won easily.

Also I don't understand people's issues with the base missions, I'd just charge, get as many enemies activated as I can, then use an AoE attack like Matthew's talent art to one shot most of the enemies. Same with not having enough upgrades, so many of them are just found by exploring the map... something that is clearly a major draw of a Xenoblade game. This game more then any other does the best job incentivizing you to explore since it gives you affinity points which helps your characters grow.

I think the incursion mechanic is really fun personally. I haven't been able to just charge in on Hard, which, tbh, is a refreshing change of pace. It makes fighting scrubs feel dangerous, which is a bit unusual innit.
Plus it ties in with the general thrust of making the world just.. more interactable in some intangible way.
I like almost every mechanical change in the DLC. If I was to nitpick:
1. While the "enemy has really strong defences until you defeat its nearby allies" mechanic is good in practice, putting it to objects that can loop Call Reinforcements is a bit shit. Quite a few times I've only managed to win by chain attack wrecking the entire field, and I hate chain attacks. I'd accept it if there was some way to Seal Reinforcements like in 2. Is there?
2. The Union Strike forced animation thing is a bit annoying.

Anyone know an efficient way to grind for the superbosses? Leveling down and beating the unique darbus over and over with an exp boosting meal is what I'm doing now.

leveling down to ~50 and killing the unique level 55 fogbeast in the crater is pretty quick, that's what I did to get from level ~70-80 and it only took like a couple kills with exp food and chain attack overkills

Not that I’m really using them all that much, but when I panic use a chain attack during a large group bc Glimmer and A both and I don’t want to run away because I’m decently far into the enemy’s health, the new chain attack accessories really make it a lot nicer vs having a party with the same completion/heroic chain effects all 120 hours of the game.

Yup, just tried it. That's way faster. Thanks!!

For anyone who has already finished the dlc:
I just finished
the quest where you fight against shulk and Rex with only Glimmer and Nikol
and currently proceeding to
Prison Island to get to origin
. How much do I have left?

You're in the last quarter of the game.

Hearing the Colony 9 music fade in and realizing I was back where it all began, when I first tried that strange Wii game everybody online was talking about and fell in love back in 2011, was magical.
It's tricky to get fanservice just right so it doesn't feel tacky, but Future Redeemed nails it.

Reached chapter 4 and a friend was watching:
Friend "you are not going to kill the giraffe looking monsters right?
Me "why not?"
Friend "It's a giraffe, it's not doing anything, you just bumped into one and it didn't even reacted, it's just chilling there"

Now I kinda feel bad for beating them

Oh man I feel this way so often in Xenoblade 😭

I don't wanna hurt the pretty animals!!

But the enepedia is hungry for blood

If you can get the timing right, Matthew’s cancelling skills + his quick move damage skills + an accessory that increases the window of opportunity for cancelling = Matthew’s fists become pure killing machines.

Still early going, and not that I disliked Xenoblade 3, but Future Redeemed feels all around better in like every way. The music is like night and day better too.

So are the black stones ( the ones you need for the vertical ether slides) limited or very rare drops? Besides the one they gave you in the story I already found 2 places where I can build those but just can't find that material
