StarTopic Splatoon 3 |ST| The Mammal with the Three Golden Eggs (World's End Splatfest announced)

I really need to figure out what I’m doing wrong in turf war. I tend to play fairly aggressively by charging to the center with a shooter and I don’t know if I’m just not geared properly or need to find a better thing to do that encourages me to play more conservatively. Because I feel like my aim is terrible and I can’t track people when they’re hopping around like they’re bunny rabbits. So I get eaten alive in any sort of encounter especially against anything with a high ROF. Which being turf war is like 90% of the weapons.

I’m not sure I’m having a good time and I feel like I’m dragging things down because I feel like I’m doing something wrong.

This is all in open and playing with randoms too if that matters.
It's more important to hold an area than to claim more space in Turf War. If you have a comfortable lead, it's best to not risk it and play defensively so you can hold that lead.

Dying is the last thing you want, it's worse for your team than in any other mode.

It's part of why I hate turf war, because especially in Splatfest you have zero control over your teammates living or dying, and you're just encouraged to never fight anyone, because it's better to just zone them out the whole game

Oh and here I thought the point was to rush all the way into the enemy base in the last 30 seconds, get 3-0'd, and then force me to try and hold the center in a desperate 1v3 as time ticks down. That's what my teammates love to do after all.

Have you tried playing backline/support?
I know the feeling of rushing to the center and start splatting is sometimes too strong, but perhaps a change of strategy to allow yourself to be aware of your surroundings and playing a bit slower as you get used to/better at the aiming while keeping your distance would help to improve your experience.

You could also try non-shooter weapons that aren't as dependant to your aiming like blasters, rollers, brushes or sloshes. Also, try different aiming settings/speeds until you feel really comfortable with one.

Using abilities like Comeback and Quick Respawn will help A LOT if you're dying too frequently.

Lastly, there are days and even weeks where we are just not feeling it and it's more about luck than skills, seeing as we all play with and against random people and the game's net code isn't as stable as we would expect. So I hope you don't get too discouraged and keep playing as long as you're having fun.

Thank you both! I think I'm going to go back to rollers for a bit and try and focus more on holding an area rather than trying to engage. And I'll give my gear a look over and see if I have anything with Comeback or Quick Respawn on it.

It certainly feels like I've gotten more wins on Team Nessie than any other Splatfest team I've been a part of before.

Somehow managed a 10-game win streak, I think that's a good place to call it quits. Gonna be disappointed if Team Nessie doesn't win with how many times I've seen Shiver talking about a 100x victory.

So tired of attackers killing other attackers
Nothing like getting killed at the end of grabbing Ultra Signal and seeing it was a bomb from the other attacking team

Fucking hell, attackers get no turf and no paths out of base.

Team Nessie has got this in the bag.

This isn't even fun anymore.

You can exchange your conch shells after the fest is over but before the results are announced two hours later, right?

The lighting, colors and atmosphere are very pretty, but I can't wait for it to be over cause I can't see/distinguish anything in certain colors during the fests.

Just a few minutes left, I want Nessie to prevail so bad but I think Aliens has it.

EDIT: I think I jumped the gun

Unsure if you're from Europe or not but keep in mind that since time changed the results should be now at 4 AM rather than 3!

Going to be a bit shocked if Nessie doesn't win this. My own personal record is 33/15 at the end of this Splatfest so I like to think I had a decent run on Team Aliens but I got matched up against so many players who had 100x tags and the news ticker only seemed to highlight Team Nessie wins whenever a 100x was announced. Team Aliens also seemed to only slip by in the pre-flight by a lead of margins whereas Team Nessie kind of dominated halftime.

I say this every Splatfest though so I'm ready to be proven wrong.

I cannot believe there was only .8% between Nessie and Aliens. What the hell man. I was convinced it would be more like 20-60-20

Even if I picked Aliens Shiver is the best so I'm happy with her victory.
And a bit surprised given the Splatfest's question. Oops.

Mako was impossible for attackers, defenders had clear defensible sightlines in every direction out of center and the small map size meant they had no incentive to leave once they had it locked down. Unless they had a truly horrible team comp or were asleep at the wheel it was like slamming into a brick wall. Miserable experience

I think I was attackers in all but one tricolor match and I won most of them, not sure what that means. Of course they were 90% Nessie mirror matches.

Congrats, Nessie fans! ^_^

I don't understand how there were so, so many mirror matches for both Nessie and aliens when the teams were pretty even.

I can't check right now, but if previous Splatfests had the current points for each category, would the result have been different?

There were only 2 previous splatfests with separate tricolor points, and they were blowouts, so no.

Oh my god I am so tired of playing with braindead idiots every time I try to practice charger. How do you expect me to help if you're going to just let them immediately push into our base and you're nowhere to be found? Why do you think I put a mine at the only entrance? WHAT DO YOU THINK IT MEANS IF THAT MINE GOES OFF??? I just can't. I immediately quit in the second straight game where that happened, no point in playing with teammates who cannot understand the most basic aspects of the game.

I feel like if you had the right strategy (throwing yourself at the signal over and over) this was pretty attacker favored

Of course, most players aren't gonna be aware of that strategy, and I don't think you stand any chance on this map as attackers without the signals

Defenders definitely had the easier time. I think our highest Team Nessie Tricolor was llike 68%, neither team was good/coordinated enough to leave spawn.

For Aliens or Tessie?

Self-harm is a serious topic. Please don't trivialize it. If this game is making you consider seriously harming yourself, please avoid playing it and speak to a trained professional. -PixelKnight, Barely Able, Red Monster

It's incredible the degree to which Nintendo truly and willfully despises me. It's a very trivial thing, but at one point I was happy to have a freshness of 15 with this weapon. Well, that mistake will never happen again. I'm going to be forced to lose until the rating is 0, because the makers of this game are determined to grind me into dust. No joy is too small for them to steal from me. I'm not allowed to have any form of happiness ever.

if these posts are a running joke it's getting wildly distasteful

Sorry, I should have considered the impact my words might have on other people. Since I'm incapable of not spreading my misery to other people, I'll refrain from commenting in the future.
