The stick sensitivity issue made F-Zero X unplayable for me.

On Switch, at least you can use the N64 controller.

Did you play F-Zero X on Wii U following the patch? Apparently it got patched December 3 2016

F-Zero X on Switch received one as well but this was posted after the patch:

Probably won’t grab the wireless N64 controller just for that, I wouldn’t play with the joycons. So the sensitivity is still bad on Switch? This is pretty annoying

It's still bad, both on Wii U and Switch. Controlling the car is very slippery.

Thanks. I wanted to have at least one series representative on my 3DS, since the games won't be the same on different hardware, but realistically I don't know when or if I'll get around to playing it. Grabbing IV and knowing the others are available on Switch should I ever end up falling in love with Etrian Odyssey is a good compromise.

Hi everyone, so I just remembered that I had a bunch of Wii U and 3DS game codes that I bought from Humble Bundle ages ago, redeemed one on my Wii U to test if it still worked, and it did! But the eshop is getting hammered right now, got a lot of connection errors trying to access it so have a bit of patience if you want to redeem a code. Enjoy!

P.S. All the codes I'm posting where unrevealed on my Humble Bundle account, so I'm certain these haven't been redeemed yet.

Goddammit. Thought I was done, but I bit the bullet and decided to also get Pokemon Yellow and Red, even as someone with no nostalgia for those games (that's Crystal) and knowing they'll likely be on Switch Online eventually... For the glitches!

Otherwise, I got a pretty good haul. Took advantage of several sales, like Legend of Dark Witch 3 and the Parascientific Escape series (the latter of which I had never heard up before but they were cheap and looked fun enough)... and for Wii U I mainly got Virtual Console games, like the Pokemon Ranger series (I was 90% sure I had gotten the first game for DS at some point and just never gotten around to playing it but guess not?) and Drill Dozer (which is getting pretty expensive). Got SM64DS because of it being apparently the best way to experience it (and yeah, sounds about right with the control stick compared the D-pad) and Animal Crossing Wild World and Warioware Touched for nostalgia (both of which I had unfortunately sold back when I still used to do that for a lot of the games I had beaten/was done with). Didn't really find any Wii U games I really wanted that I hadn't already bought.

Still have some money left because of the whole "having to add set amounts" thing, but I've already spent more than enough on this and think I'd rather keep the rest for Switch stuff.

And done. Would’ve been done last night if I had realized you need to actually have a compatible game inserted to do anything functional with a Pokémon Bank like getting access to the Transporter download. Instead I bopped around with Crystal ton of avail last night.

Popped in my Y cartridge, had a Dex and a small party in less than 30 minutes. Booted up Bank and off to the Transporter download in no time.

Might pick up a couple themes after work but not really necessary. Just glad to be over with this. I have some observations I’ll post later.

Decided to get RE Umbrella Chronicles since it was $3. Good last game to get I think as the epitome of Wii era Nintendo (motion controls, third parties making unique spin off titles instead of full fledged experiences, arcade formats rather than grand adventures)
 
Damn. There are a shit ton of Themes that are free. Everyone should comb through that shop and download them

Also, there are themes for games I don’t even know about. Who would buy some of these, lol?
 
I just bought a game via the website. After that I wanted to add 10€ to my account to buy a DSi game. But neither my credit card (which I bought the game with) nor my debit card work. I also contacted my credit card provider and everything seems ok with it. Did anybody else had this problem before?

I think you have to do it through the Nintendo website or the switch. It appears download code redemption has been turned off on the systems. I don’t think game codes will work anymore

I tried to add the funds through the website. Because that didn't work I also tried via Switch. Every time the same error. Different browser and website reloading didn't help either.
Maybe I used the same card to many times the last few days.

Edit: I don't use codes to add funds, I use my credit card. Because that didn't work I also tried my debit card, but that one doesn't work either.

For my last call I got Gurumin 3D, Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, 3D Classics Kid Icarus and the New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC. Feels right for my last purchase to be Mario.

Thanks for the reminder. Scrolled through a couple pages, grabbed a couple free themes. They added less than I thought over time, so it didn't take too long to gain some eternal peace of mind.
 
I just bought some themes to fill out my rotation and a Game Gear game for the lolz.

might get hanafuda and Mario holiday (love to make seasonal themes). Game and watch looks cool but can’t find it at all. Wish they had a search function

I managed to get the Mario (8 bit and characters), Zelda, animal crossing, and Kirby icons from badge arcade, so rotate themes around those. Love the Zelda and Kirby anniversary themes and the Mario famicom box themes. Plus rotating seasonal themes.
 
Okay, I think this is my final haul:

3DS: Wario Land, Wario Land 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Pokemon Transporter, and a bunch of themes
Wii U: Pikmin, Pikmin 2, Sin And Punishment: Star Successor, Zack And Wiki, Metroid: Zero Mission

I have just about everything else I could want, or it's things I could get elsewhere. As the clock ticks down I keep wondering if I've forgotten anything but I think I'm gonna call it here. Even the Wario Land games were just so I have all four on my 3DS, and I got Zero Mission so I can play it now vs waiting on NSO.
 
Just did a pile of last-minute purchases. I remain really bummed out that Nintendo's shutting both eShops down this soon (was kind of hoping they'd change their minds in the past year like Sony did with the PS3 store, but no dice).

Farewell, 3DS and Wii U... your era may not have been the best time for Nintendo, but I really did have lots of fun.

Closed the shop by getting the Hanafuda theme. Thought it a good way to end an era of a Nintendo system by buying a nod to its beginning

RIP in Peace 3DS and Wii U. With any other owner you'd have lived so much longer. But you had to be made by Nintendo...

As for what I did with these final hours? Well, I spent it downloading every single demo I could. And I failed in that task, unfortunately. As time went on the downloads took longer to start and became slower, so I just barely lost out on getting all of them. Should've started earlier but this was a real spur of the moment thing.
I couldn't download:
  • Demos for games I already owned
  • The limited-play version of the Smash Bros. demo
  • The Demo for some horse-raising game
  • The demo for some game with a teddy bear
  • The demos for the "I Love _____" Series (shovelware about raising a kid or pet)
Literally everything else I managed to get onto my system in time. So now I have a metric shitton of demos, mostly of shovelware that nobody's looked at in years or will ever likely look at again. But why not?

Yeah. At least they made it easier to locate the downloaded/redownloads me titles on the main page. Sort of funny they have a giant Nintendo selects logo with those titles inside to select (but not buy).
 
Looks like Poke Transporter (the app that transfers Gen 5 and VC Pokemon to Bank) is currently broken, I assume they will patch it at some point and this was an oversight.

Sad the shops are closed. It was the last place to legally buy a huge chunk of retro Nintendo games in particular and games tied heavily to the hardware gimmicks are likely gone for good. I’m glad I basically sorted it all out by November last year. My last purchases in February were for Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones and F-Zero GP Climax. I already beat The Sacred Stones and had a good time and while I’ve only played a little of it so far I think F-Zero GP Climax might be my favorite 2D F-Zero. So good ones to end on for me. I held strong for no last minute panic buys and at least as of this moment, I’m feeling good about that.

not a lot but man that cost quite a bit. ill hunt down some physical copies afterward for other games, presuming resellers dont jack up the prices to ridiculous levels lol. personally im not really all that bothered. i expect nintendo to start mining 3ds remasters to cover up the lighter periods of the switch 2 anyway. they started already with miitopia and the success of the metroid prime remaster has shown that people will buy old games with a prettier coat of paint. the good stuff will resurface eventually, indies will port their stuff to the switch and the other consoles + PC and major publishers will continue to put out bad ports and overpriced collections. maybe they'll do a 3ds nso but thats unlikely if gamecube games are getting the remastered treatment.

Oh yeah the prices will skyrocket for a some time but will they will come down eventually. I got a bunch of DS games last year and the most I spend on one was 30$ for Hotel Dusk (the first one)

Yeah. Even the selects branded line of things are going for close to $40 used. I didn’t look too closely but imagine a lot will stabilize as demand craters from people not trying to beat the closure by snagging physical games. Late Gen stuff will still be up there but can’t imagine anyone is actually wanting to pay $120 for Kirby’s extra epic yarn.
 
Just realized this also means the Virtual Console is officially dead and gone. Remembering how excited I was for the concept back in the days leading up to the Wii's release... feels particularly sad.

This is definitely one of the biggest losses of the whole thing. Lots of games that would never end up on NSO but got a Virtual Console release.
 
The day after the 3DS and Wii U eShops die, we get a look at the latest Zelda game coming to Switch. The old makes way for the new. Truly the circle of life.

Thanks for the fun times, Wii U and 3DS. And since I now have a new batch of your games to play, there will be plenty more fun times to come!

Used market is also still reeling from the pandemic impact that shot everything up in price.

eBay sometimes has better pricing if you’re patient.

But yea, there’s some physical games I’m going to move very quickly to snag before things get stupid. I’m still kicking myself for not getting Kirby Battle Royale when there was a glut of them in the Target clearance rack thinking they’d still be there a month later…

Also, If you want any physical Wii (and some DS) games you probably want to get a move on it since they’re the next systems to have the nostalgia effect kick in.
