Yeah I can't make any sense of them choosing to dedicate an entire day to Spyke and then a few days later piling 3-4 kits + other stuff in simultaneous tweets
 
I kind of thought 2.0 was a lighter update and that 3.0 would be better, not worse

how are they going to fill out a catalog worse than 2.0? mystery boxes?

I do think now is the time to get urchin underpass if they're ever gonna do it
 
They're probably just not going to do a single tweet a day about the upcoming update, especially the kits. I don't think theres really any reasonable line of thought that it has less than the previous one.

It's not particularly surprising that they're also focusing a bit on the stuff they plan to charge money for first.
 
Dead game on a B-tier series at the twilight of its lifetime etc etc etc

I'm not expecting new season to be super packed, honestly. We know a couple of things that are probably coming with it, like online tableturf and league battle; we'll probably get a couple QoL things on the side too.

If we get new music that would already be great.

No, they are bought together. Though given that the expansion pass is $25, only $5 more than Octo Expansion, I don't think Inkopolis will be anything more than a pre-order bonus for Side Order.

To me it seems like they belatedly realized that treating Inkopolis as a "wave" with its own buildup and rollout was a mistake, and they should get it out of the way so they can focus on Side Order. And I think Side Order is likely to release a bit earlier too.

It's not really the same as with Octo Expansion, since that was announced for "summer 2018" on March 8, and launched on June 13. As opposed to being announced for "spring 2023" on February 8 and launching 20 days later on February 28.

I just meant at E3 2018 they showed the octo expansion during the direct and said it was releasing in summer but then announced in the treehouse it was the 13th

The eShop has Side Order as by the end of 2024. I don't think it's coming very soon.

The eShop release dates are an upper bound on when the DLC is expected to release. Even if the goal was always to ship wave 1 with the season update, to it's quite plausible Nintendo internally viewed it as at risk of slipping to later in the season until very recently (as in a matter of days), which is reflected by the estimated release date at the end up the upcoming season.

The conclusions we can draw from the Side Order release date are fairly minimal, but it does not signal confidence that it will release this year.

The dates just reflect what has been stated publicly, however broad or narrow that is. Since they said "in the future" for Side Order, the date reflects the end date of support for Splatoon 3 in general. I'm pretty sure I remember the release dates for early waves of other DLC, maybe MK8DX DLC, also said December 31, 2023, even though they were releasing starting in 2022.

If one thinks "in the future" for wave 2, of something where wave 1 is releasing on March 1, means late 2023 or 2024, that can be your prediction, but the eShop end date means nothing at all.

I think the release date tweet was pretty clearly meant as a conclusion to the DLC tweets :p

Though they have posted stuff on Fridays before, and Thursday feels like a weird day for it somehow, so idk

Does this happen to yours as well? Or do I need to panic that my code may have been redeemed by someone else, and go hassle shopto

Just checked and yep, same error for me now as well.

Now we know the first wave drops 28th Feb, might be worth holding fire until then and trying our codes once the first wave is live? If it still flags up errors then its down to Shopto to sort that stuff out.
