News Nintendo Direct announced for February 8th

It’s wild to think that the remake or remaster or whatever it is of Metroid Prime hasn’t come out yet. Or acknowledged yet. It’s also wild that if it were to be announced, it would immediately become the no 1 thing I would want to play!

I’m sure there will be some great stuff here with or without Samus, though! I don’t really have much for Switch on my docket this year yet, excited to see what’s coming up.

I wonder anything Atlus will come up? Vanillaware or perhaps dare I dream P3 Remake or P6? Or that dungeon crawling rpg which I forget it's name, I think it had odyssey 1 time on the 3ds.

Majin Tensei or SMT1/2/If... remakes, let's will those into existence.

I have zero expectation beyond a Zelda trailer and various DLC/update trailers. Whatever happens with this direct happens.

If I am hoping for things, I'd like an NSO update. Will we know if we're getting Game Boy NSO alongside Pokémon Stadium, or will we need to wait for a Pokémon Day presentation for that? Also would like a new Mario announcement (besides more movie news), but when do I not want that?

Hopefully the Octopath Traveler (and any other 2D-HD game they have in the pipeline lol) game doesn't take up too much time, I'm really to get into some goodness!

Square Enix all but confirmed to be a part of the direct..

But I think we all expected them to be there anyway :p

Dragon Quest 3 HD2D Hype. Triangle Strategy and Live A Live both was announced in February Direct, I expect the trend continues.

Given: Pixel Remasters.
Dream: Dragon Quest 3 HD2D remake.
Eh, Pixel Remasters was already announced, they'll save their allocated time to new stuff. That new SaGa game, maybe (which I don't understand why keeps getting ignored). And Final Fantasy Tactics remaster.

Don't worry they'll have a separate 50 minute presentation dedicated only to OT II, that is after its 5 minute trailer in the Direct 😈

Let's be real

I am really only in this for Tears of the Kingdom.

If we can get an actually good trailer for Tears of the Kingdom, then it will be a GOAT direct. Everything else will be a cherry on top.

My predictions though:
2D Mario
ZELDA
Final Fantasy Pixel remasters dated
Octopath 2 trailer + demo
Something Metroid
A Gamecube port of some sort

Ok, time for Predictions!!!:

- The Direct will open up with a new DK game. My heart wants to say a 3D game, but there is always the chance it is a 2D one. With that, the direct already starts bananas.

- The headlights after that will most likely focus on already announced games: Reminder of FE Engage DLC, XC 3 Wave 3 DLC(No Expansion will be talked about on this direct), Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe, OT 2, Megaman Collection, etc.

- One new thing that they will announce here is a collection of the first two Tomb Raider games, most likely a result of Embracer buying the IP.

- The next highlight will be Zelda. 3 to 4 min video for it, with Aonuma spending an extra 2 minutes talking about the game after that. A direct specific for TOTK will be announced, of which will probably be 20 minutes long.

- Another round of headlines. Advance Wars will be shown again, and probably shadowdropped. Its not like Nintendo is sending it to die, but at this point its probably the best next thing to do for it, marketing and financially wise.

- The screen turns to black. You wonder what will be shown. And then you see it....

The Capcom logo.

Your imagination starts to run wild with possibilities. Not moments later, you start hearing some familiar tunes.Yes, there is no mistaking it...

Capcom announces Megaman X9 and that its comming in September.

You close the stream.Nothing will ever be more hype than that, so you stop watching so that you won't be dissapointed by whatever else they show.

- Mostly third party games that have already released on other systems, like Hogwarts Legacy, Darksiders 3, Borderlands 3 and/or Wonderlands, etc.

- Time for another highlight. And this one will be rather boring: Another Mario Sports game by Camelot, that is probably as barebones as the rest of their recent output.3 or 4 minutes gonna be wasted on this, and you go pee while it is being shown.

But at the end something weird happens. A Nintendo rep(Their names always escapes me) says "But that's not all" and then claps their hands.

The screen turns to black...

And there it is: A full remake of the first two Golden Sun games. And then the world breathes at peace again.

- Back to the headlines. Atlus fucking finally, after what it seems like 4 years, announces a new Etrian Odyssey game. This game reinvents what it means to be a EO game, but its still faithful to the series.

- Capgod comes back to the direct to announce that not only that a new Ace Attorney collection(4,5,6) is comming in April, but Ace Attorney 7 is announced.

- Splatoon 3 updates in general, and we will probably have a sneak peek at the Expansion.

- Time for a new highlight and its Pikmin 4. They will give an actual showing of the game, and everyone will be happy.

- The one more thing will be a 1-2 minutes teaser of Metroid Prime 4, and it will have a 2024 release date. Before anyone says it, don't know about the trilogy. I don't think it exist, but if it does, it will only be announced in june. The logic is that this is a 2 half game, and since they are old games, Nintendo will want a smaller timeframe between announcement and release.

Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! PLEASE! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid! Metroid!

Fun fact: we get more hyped for the announcement of a Direct than the announcement of the actual games during a Direct or by playing actual games.

I think this basically every direct but I do really think this could be one of the greats. So many games both rumoured and announced that I think are well timed to finally be shown off here.

It would be great, but just in case you are waiting for it, darksiders 3 is already on switch.

"Remember that Pixel Remaster collection that we fleeced collectors with the shipping cost? Yea, still out of stock. Please be excited."

I'm still pissed off they didn't just do regular preorders for the basic games collection.

Their loss, because I'm not buying them digitally or at scalper prices.

One out of Metroid and F-Zero and I'll be good. Hopefully not too much of a TotK deep dive, would like to go in as blind as possible.

I'd like Square Enix to show new Mana and/or SaGa but they have so many other things to potentially show that I'm not gonna hold my breath and stamp my feet.

Their loss, because I'm not buying them digitally or at scalper prices.

The slow crawl from "they're gonna be a thing" to "please continue to wait" has harshed my vibe a little, and I would have bought digitally when they were announced if they'd been a shadow drop. They gave me time to think and reflect on whether I need to replay any of these games at this point in time. Big mistake! Shot themselves in the foot, very interested to see how they recover from this, etc.
