A one month delay isn't much, so that's interesting. But also probably a much better launch window, so it's not on the same day as Octopath 2
Yeah February was looking full, thaknfully now I don't have to choose between Octopath 2 and Ryza 3

Also it's Etrian Odyssey 16th anniversary! Prob doesn't mean anything to Atlus anymore as the "next stage" is not coming after 4 years, but someone has to celebrate it.

Sigh...

I might as well get this out of the way too. You'll all find out eventually that I have controversial opinions. Some of you might even block me. (Btw, I'm going to use any remakes in place of the originals.) This list is based primarily on which ones I'd be most likely to replay at any given moment.

5. Samus Returns - Great game. Unfortunately, playing it on 3DS actually hurts my hands. I also find hunting the Metroids a little tedious after a while. But I love this game for all the new elements it brought to the table, like the Melee Counter and Aeion Abilities.

4. Super Metroid - Look, it's a masterpiece. It is. But there are certain areas (Maridia) that are so annoying to me that I just don't enjoy replaying it as much as the others above it on this list. But the atmosphere and music are impeccable.

3. Zero Mission - The quintessential Metroid adventure, imo. Infinitely replayable. Simple, yet fun controls. Beautiful pixel art. And the Zero Mission content adds a unique flair to the experience.

2. Fusion - I don't even know where to start. Plenty of people complain about linearity, BUT I DON'T CARE. This was my first Metroid game, and I have loved it since day 1. This game oozes (sometimes literally) atmosphere. The art direction is incredible, with some of my favorite bosses and enemies of all time. The sound effects are just...chef's kiss. The sounds of the X parasites squirming and swarming live rent free in my head. And Samus is actually a freaking character. Not in a whiny Other M way, but in an introspective and thoughtful way. Fight me. Block me. Shun me. I don't care. This game rocks.

1. Dread - Did you know that this is an actual, real game that you can purchase for the Nintendo Switch family of systems? You did? Great! That's why it's number one.

(Oh, I guess I should mention that it's also expertly paced and features gorgeous dioramas, fluid movement, and slick, teeth-clinching action. Plus, Samus speaks Chozo and Raven Beak is a Chad.)
Honestly, my sentiment surrounding Metroid is very similar to yours. It's a masterpiece, and it's probably #3 on my list, but I don't look forward to replaying it the way I do Zero Mission and Dread in particular. Maridia is a chore. And coming from someone who only played through all five 2D Metroids for the first time last year, I don't have any nostalgia for it.

My ranking:

5) Samus Returns
4) Fusion
3) Super
2) Zero Mission
1) Dread

Deedlit in Wonderland: Record of Lodoss War on Switch got a new patch. Seems to address the performance issues the game had.

Time for some late night Arlo.

I'll give this a look in the morning because it's past my bedtime and I already feel the vertigo coming back to haunt me like a sleep paralysis demon, but I did have a chuckle at being sponsored by Magic Spoon cereal. That shit is goddamn expensive, but I will admit it's pretty delicious. Used to get the peanut butter and fruit flavoured cereal and then mix them together. It was nice as a post-workout breakfast snack

...fucking product placement is almost working on me, though. Goddammit.

I'm not ready for the inevitable shitstorm when Pedro Pascal gets killed off in the season 2 premiere. If this show continues to be this good it's going to BREAK the audience.

There’s already a season 2?

So uh

I just found Johnny in the Dead Sea. 🤯

oooooooh man is there anything more satisfying than beating Miguel with Lunairetic??

Ohh yeah I get ya. Yeah… yeah
Yeah. Idk. I really liked Akiyama's part, I love his combat style and the first 4 chapters were a breeze.
Saejima, well... gameplaywise it's a chore, and that moment feels like way too much of a tonal shift, a real blunder on their part. And I get what RGG were trying to portray with that moment, I guess, with this moment and what jail can do to a man but... I think there are better ways to handle it. And Kiryu's reaction???? Jesus. Fuck. Really hard to keep playing as him.

Anyways, I might need to take a break from it.

Just beat Chapter 4 of Tokyo Mirage Sessions last night - not onto another fun filled Intermission with new character Side Quests!

So, well, MH Rise is on gamepass soon. Have lots of other games to play, and absolutely zero experience with the series. Still, worth giving a try?

I’m not trying to defend that moment (it’s pretty indefensible!) but if it’s any consolation: almost every Yakuza fan I’ve ever seen or heard talking about that moment will tell you that it’s not only out of character for Kiryu (and Saejima, once you get to know him) but it’s just… out of character for the whole franchise. It’s something they’d absolutely remove from a Kiwami version of 4, if they were to ever make one

If you just want to check it out, go for it. But if you get hooked and plan to play this for more than just a few times, i'd actually buy it because it sure will leave GP one day.

Keep in mind, you get no cross console play, and no cross save. Also, the Xbox and PS release is just the base game without Sunbreak as of now.
E: So since this is a game that's often played in multiplayer and where you can drop hundreds of hours into, you should in the end go with the platform where you have most people in your list to play with.

I didn’t like previous Monster Hunter entries I tried out, but Rise clicked with me, and I think it’s because Rise is very friendly towards series newcomers. And if you can try it out for “free” on GP, I would highly recommend doing so. I got hooked from playing Nintendo’s Online Trial!

I would like the PS5 to succeed
PS5 has been successful, even if enthusiasts and forum dwellers can be bit down on it. It’s really only Japan where PS fell off big time.

Right, when you say that, I think I figured it was just a matter of doomerism and cynicism, which usually go together (and is just a convenient way to attack other consoles), though of course, I wasn't sure.

I’m seeing Xenoblade fans compared DLC and whatnot. I knew this would happen, Xenoblade 2 was such a rough game at launch compared to 3 that I felt 3’s updates would be on the slower side. Especially when they only teased 2 Hero quests outright.

But we’ll see where 3 ends up in the end. If there’s no difficulty modifiers and no enemy aggression, would be a shame. That was my favorite thing about 2’s update. Made replaying 2 more fun.

Refreshing my order status page for Fire Emblem Engage.

Engage the delivery, dammit!

If this helps you easy your anxiety, my Divine Edition from the german My Nintendo Store shows up as "Shipped" since monday morning, they charged my card on last friday, and as of now, i still have neither, a shipping confirmation e-mail nor a tracking.

My copy of FE Engage will arrive from 7 to 15 days after release, if it helps to ease any anxiety. And I'm pretty sure it will only be sent next week.
Nintendo still does not have simultaneous releases here, in fact even pokémon SV they promised would release on December still doesn't haven't been released here physically.
