Engage looks fun but I still have awakening and haven’t managed to beat it in the 7 years I’ve had it

Good news! My Switch is on its way back to me

Bad news! The 'O' key on my keyboard is still fucked despite some cleaning :(

I swear, my tech issues never end.

Help me out!

I need a 3 player co-op game on Switch that could be beaten in maybe 5-6 hours.
Wifes sister is visiting us for a few days and it would be fun to play something all three of us

Not sure if I’m ready to bite just yet tho. Quite a few things on my wishlist for sale tho. New low for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 at $12 so tempted after loving the first game.
Other things on my list tempting me I’d be open to thoughts on:
Lumines remastered at $4.50
Kloana remastered at $24
Dusk Diver at $3.50
Monster Train first class at $15

I don't know what's more absurd - that there's no mechanism to deal with this kind of situation, or that I somehow did not know that lol

In Australia, there's a mechanism called a "double dissolution". Basically, if the government is not able to function to this kind of deadlock, the governor-general (the head of state) dissolves both the House of Representatives and the Senate (the full Senate, not just those next up for re-election) and there's a new election for every single seat lmao

Goddamn, scorched earth!

I'd love a America where if the politicians don't function they just get fired. What a gift that'd be.

Also the thing yall have, what are they called, referendums or something? Those sound awesome.

Temped by both of these games, but I can't, no. January is for Fire Emblem Engage. I'm just going to continue playing Pokemon for now.

Overheard some maintenance folks talking about Call of Duty Warzone. What a bunch of nerds. Videogame discussion should be kept to anonymous forum posts and not with actual people in the real world meat space.

Going off Namco trends, it’ll be about 3 months or third sale when it’ll hit 50 % off for angler and Kaiju. Probably, maybe a little longer since they’re both actually new, but that’s the general trend. I can’t justify both right now but I’m tempted by ace angler

Had zero luck with shinies in Arceus for a long time then last night I get shiny Piplup and Dustox in outbreaks back to back. Then I went running around to make another outbreak appear and all of a sudden I get a full odds shiny Rhyhorn. =)

Well the Castlevania DLC is what convinced me to get Dead Cells, it's 50% off on the eShop. I better not regret this.

My hearing aid diagnosis was correct, and replacing the receiver fixed the problem. I am no longer one-sided.

My friend is lending me his PS5 over the holiday/January period, so I recently beat God of War 2018 on PC (9/10 game imo), then switched over to The Last of Us remake on PS5 and beat that a few days ago (true 10/10). My backlog up until Tears of the Kingdom looks like:

1) The Last of Us Part 2 (played for like 2 hours so far)
2) Bayonetta 3
3) Continuing to play through Xenoblade 3 (I'm always so slow with Monolith Soft games)
4) Resident Evil 4 Remake
5) A Link to the Past (never played!!!)
6) OoT replay before TotK
7) TotK

Post-Zelda, we're looking at:
1) A Plague Tale: Requiem
2) Tunic
3) Maybe God of War: Ragnarok if I can borrow my friend's PS5 again lol
4) Disco Elysium
5) Starfield
6) Deathloop on Game Pass

Depending on what gets dated in a Direct, like Prime Remake, that could definitely nestle its way in here, but still, what a wild, mostly free year ahead of me for awesome video games.

Sent some gifts to my nephew in the US and it still amaze me they just left the packages in the porch or in other houses, that would be unthinkable here

I spent the Christmas money I got on Floppy Knights, Neon White, TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection, and Persona 5 Royal. Combine this with Nier: Automata and 13 Sentinels and then Fire Emblem Engage in two weeks, and I've probably got the time prior to the first theoretical Direct of the year covered.

I also got a PlayStation 5 for Christmas and have Resident Evil 2 and Grand Theft Auto V going in addition to getting Jedi: Fallen Order and a slew of games I've missed out on for years, so that's probably the time prior to the second theoretical Direct of the year covered!

I got god of war ragnarok for Christmas so I hope to replay 2018 and then play that once my migraines subside. For now. I’m playing through quick sessions on fighting games.

Mortal Kombat 10
Killer Instinct
Tekken 7
Injustice
Street Fighter 4
Marvel vs Capcom 3

I feel like these are the only games I can enjoy right now. I just refunded several games I bought on steam except for dishonored since it was three bucks.

I was looking at fire emblem Engage, dead space, Kirby, starfield, Jedi survivor, resident evil 4, and Zelda as my new games for a while. But I’m holding off till the headaches are resolved

Level design is so creatively draining.

Spending hours and hours in blueprints trying to create a function to do a particular thing that I need it to do is easy peesy. It doesn't take much creativity or imagination. Taking a blank level template and creating walls, doors, doorways, props, secrets, enemy encounters, exits, entrances, interactibles, and loot is much harder since every single one of those is a completely freeform choice I need to make.

I can see why people do procedural level design.

The main games I'm playing rn are Ori 2 and Rayman 2 Revolution, and soon a replay of Crash 4. Nothing really in mind after that, just going to see what I feel like. There's a bunch of games I'm interested in that look like they're releasing in 2023 or pretty soon, so I'll just play those when they come out. And I'd like to do a Pac Man World 2 replay this summer.

I think when Mario Maker came out I realized how hard even this simplified, assisted level design is. I got a couple cute levels but that was it, I thought I could pump them out easily lmao Same for when I tried GB Studios (which I NEED to get back to...).

Respect for doing all this work on your game, I've been quietly reading your updates and it's really inspiring, same with Suswave's game!

silver lining you still got the zero key to use - how lucky the letter key that is fucked is the one with a readily available numeric replacement ;p

I don't see what's so hard about level design. Just make a big box where you can fight some dudes, then make a long corridor that connects to another room where you fight dudes, and repeat. Increase the length of the corridors if you need to pad out the game length. At the end, put in an even bigger room for a boss fight and then you're done!

But where do I put all of my many, many puns?

make a level with a big Snake Eater-like ladder that you have to climb as someone following behind you tells you progressively worse and worse jokes, and there’s a button prompt to “let go” that slowly gets bigger and bigger on screen the higher you climb. if you press the “let go” button the bad joke maker catches you and puts you back. There’s no escape.

Replace the "let go" with "kick the guy below you" and you're golden.

Ooops guess I'm getting Virtua Fighter the anime after all, meant to cancel it but it just shipped early XD

wonder when we’ll get any updates on Ultimate Muscle's Discotek release?

I think I'm tempted by ace angler more than Kaiju rancher for now on the current deal. Tho I may just wait for 50% off on both.

Also when is the Gigabash switch version releasing I want that Godzilla pack too

Outlining the theming and purpose of all the dungeons ahead of time makes it a lot easier to design them huh?
