Rumour Images of Switch OLED Tears of the Kingdom Edition have leaked

You literally know the 90% of the next console, this is the first time when more things are known prior to launching a new console.
I keep hearing this but it doesn’t seem right. I mean where are the chatter from 3rd parties. Seems that’s what’s missing from the rumours surrounding next switch or am I just remembering things wrong.

IMO the only good thing about this is that the next Zelda game will be made from the ground up to Switch 2.

Now I have the mission to rebuy a v1 Switch and rip the game to play on PC.

I need Yuzu and the like on Series X ASAP... I wish I had a decent PC so I wouldn't be hamstrung to this dated HW for the next year+

I did that end of year round-up thing that Nintendo sent out, and the most I put in to any Switch game this year was about 5 hours. Part of that is having a new baby on the scene, but I just find it less and less appealing to play.

I guess 3D Mario will be the big-seller attached the Switch 2 then. That might explain why we haven't seen anything from that game.

We actually know nothing but the alleged internals.

Does it have a new gimmick? Are the controllers normal joycons or do they have new sensors on them? Does it use a similar OS or is there new built in software features? Is it even a hybrid? Does it have a screen or something new to display graphics?

The target audience of a new switch doesn't care about the internals. They care about the actual, what the thing does and looks like. And personally, i don't care much about what hardware it's packing, i want to see what my new expensive toy can do.

Imo, at least so far, it has these points against it:
  • Iterative sequel that has the longest dev time of any 3D Zelda, thus raising expectations.
  • Set in the same map as the first game whilst using the same engine.
  • 3 teasers so far that haven't lessened any major criticisms of the first game (lack of real dungeons, more enemy variety, etc)
  • Reviewers becoming more sensitive to performance issues.
I specified that it 'might' be the lowest rated 3D Zelda as I'm coping that they're keeping everything close to their chest

lmao
I'm sorry, but couldn't not laugh on this;

Of course, I wasn't expecting new hardware so soon, as I stated so many times, but this is too funny

the design itself is cool! =)

We don't even know if there will be another 'Switch'. Nintendo is still talking about new ways to play, so there is a chance that their next generation machine is different to what many are expecting.

The reactions to this are something else. Just doom and gloom and negativity. I’m really starting to resent this hobby and the culture that surrounds it.

I find it weird that this leaked this early on. It definitely looks real, but for this to already be in production seems off. Unless they pull a Xenoblade and we are getting the game in March instead? 🤔

I'm not upset that there's no Switch 2 launching alongside TOTK personally as this leans into what I've been hoping for since this rumored alignment became a real fandom prophecy.

That Nintendo isn't going to hold Zelda back because they've lucked/ innovated into something else that's probably just as good to be a launch title to pull in the crowds with the successor.

And more than likely, it's a new ip of some sort.

Will there be a launch day upgraded TOTK version? More than likely, hell yeah.

Will it be next to something else that blows people's minds to smithereens? Possibly, hell yeah.

Can't wait regardless.

Mmm a little bummed I can't upgrade my current Switch anytime soon as an OLED isn't enough for a new purchase imo. It does look nice though.

It might be the highest rated game of all time, I dunno how anyone has gotten any indication of the game from the teasers they've shown. This is worse then the "botw will have no towns" discourse up until the January 2017 trailer.

do I think it's ugly because

A) it killed my dreams
B) poor photo quality
C) don't like zelda aesthetic too much
D) it's actually ugly

I'm thinking B and C but leaning more towards B. it'll look a lot better when it's revealed

I have faith in the Zelda team to have this game running on at least an acceptable level like the title before it.

It’s disappointing that it won’t be 60fps but idk why people are so certain the game is going to run like crap especially with the time they’ve taken on this.

And tbh BotW had some pretty bad performance issues and it didn't really matter when it came to reviews

TotK might be the lowest rated 3D Zelda
And it might be the highest rated? Like, we don’t know that much about it?

It was going to release on the Switch no matter what, and that was going to be how most people played it no matter what. I don’t understand why suddenly we’re dooming.

You know what's going to be really fucked up?
They'll announce this switch oled ina youtube trailer in January and they'll still not show any new footage of the game.

The 89 curse will strike yet again.

I don't say it's fake but it's a bit weird that the Triforce on the dock is just a cutout of the one on the cover of the Legend of Zelda: Arts & Artifacts book

Switch performance was only one of the arguments I presented, and I'm assuming it's the one with the least amount of impact on overall review score

None of your arguments were very convincing, though, because we just don’t know that much about the game. We don’t really know if using the same world is a negative because we don’t know how much else is going to be added to it (I’d bet a lot!). You’re making assumptions. It would be like me seriously arguing that Metroid Prime 4 was going to be the lowest rated Metroid, or Pikmin 4 the lowest rated Pikmin.

Breath of the Wild was a game built for the Wii U, then ported to Switch later on development;

Tears of the Kingdom is the first 3D Zelda game built for the Switch, and yet people keep hammering the same old tale the game gonna run badly.

I promise you, if it has any hiccups, it will still be a great game.

No harm in starting early, especially with COVID potentially effecting production and shipping, plus the Chinese new year holidays that will disrupt January and February.

Am I right in thinking this is the Canadian model, with the dual language text on the front?

We've seen 0 gameplay footage of Metroid Prime 4 or Pikmin 4. We've had 3 trailers of TotK, 2 of which show new gameplay elements. The game comes out in a little over 4 months. Not exactly the same situation.

And I did specify that I was making an assumption based on what we know? It "MIGHT" be the lowest rated Zelda game. There's still time for a launch trailer to blow us away. However, I haven't felt this conflicted about a Zelda release so close to launch

There was literally a patent for this discovered a few weeks ago, we knew this was coming.

Apart from Pokémon, all.major Nintendo releases have perform very well.
XC3 performs way better than 2, and people used to say, "If 2 looked and performed bad, so will 3." That was put to rest. Engines, techniques and tools get better as time passes. Just like a 2020 PS4 game looks way better than a 2013 one.

Same.thing will happen with
TotK.

My biggest hope now is that the next switch will sell just as well as the the switch without having a new zelda at launch so people will stop using "every successful Nintendo console released with a new zelda" as an argument for wanting all new Nintendo consoles to release with zelda.
A small but important victory.

Is it even a hybrid?
There's minor evidence suggesting it is, though it takes some extrapolating based on assumptions to get there.

That'd be nice.

I continue to find it hilarious when people put the facts of "Zelda team spending 5+ years on TOTK" and "they said they are reusing the map" together and come to the conclusion that the most likely scenario is that the game will be bad or even just a retread of BOTW. As if the Zelda team just spent 5 years looking at the BOTW map and kept saying to themselves "this is all this can be," rather than, you know, actually working on things to fill it with. "But they haven't show anything in the trailers!!!" Right so again the most likely scenario is that they haven't done anything in 5 years. Right. Right.

Damn it’s crazy how the discussion on a new switch changed so much in the past couple of days lol. Honestly it looks nice, may finally be the one I upgrade my day 1 switch for.

I already have an OLED so it doesn't matter to me much

but christ that is ugly

Oh this looks cool, guess this leaked overnight? The usual Zelda gold colors look nice as always.

Edit: Wait....some were still expecting new hardware...in 2023. That ship sailed as soon as the actual OLED model was announced over a year ago!

It’s crazy this leaked already. If this is real, and if Nintendo has the ability, I’d change the design of the front dock.

Hopefully the limited edition TotK bundle that will come will be cool.

So the body and joycon grip are black, but the dock is white? They went with gold on white for the dock design and not gold on black?

Also the left joycon looks like the coloring machine malfunctioned halfway through coloring the top part green. That or a toddler was coloring it in, got bored halfway through, started drawing a maze and then gave up.

edit: TO BE CLEAR, I believe this design is real. I just don't agree with some of color/design choices.

All of the OLED special edition docks have been white so far, probably to make it clear to consumers that it's not the base dock.

We do know that the camera will be lower to the ground in Pikmin 4 and that, therefore, I can assume the metacritic will also be correspondingly lower than the superior, higher perspective offered in the previous 3 games.
We knew way, way more about the Switch (or NX as it was known back then) before its reveal than we know about the successor.
I do find it a little odd that people so completely forget that Eurogamer very accurately leaked a whole bunch of details about Switch several months before the reveal.

Like sure, they got a bunch of software rumours wrong after that, but they nailed it when it came to the Nvidia Tegra processor, the hybrid form factor, dock, detachable controllers and cartridges for software.

Hopefully between this and the other recent rumors we can collectively enjoy what software the Switch is receiving in early 2023 without everything being about a successor.
