I didn't really care for the Sword & Shield soundtrack but I really like the one from Scarlet & Violet from what I've heard. Pleasantly surprised.
 
I am here to vent about Nintendo NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGING THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF METROID PRIME!

And for all the years of insiders saying that Metroid Prime HD is likely this year (2017, 2018, 2019, … , 2022), and literally nothing happens.

Oh, and hi everyone. I will continue to be your resident “bUt WhErE iS mEtRoId!?” complainer.
 
This may sound like blasphemy to some, but I think I'd rather have an Analogue Pocket next year than a Switch Pro.

  • It looks dope.
  • I can make music.
  • I can make games.
  • Games would be cheaper.
  • A lot of new games will probably be backwards compatible for a while.

Beat Kid Icarus Uprising Ch. 13 at intensity 9.0. I thought it would take longer but Autoreticle completely wrecks the boss and the battle against Dark Pit just requires some patience. Only 12 chapters left, but 18 and 24 are included there which will both be a pain.

I posted about this on the previous month's thread so sorry if it's too much spam, but I started a project of making my own game OST (for a game that doesn't exist) and have posted a few tracks on Soundcloud so far:

Any feedback is appreciated. It's tough getting my tracks to get some attention since I have no following whatsoever haha.
 
The thing people need to accept is that Nintendo's Twitter account generally only acknowledges anniversaries like that if they have something they can sell/advertise. Not even freaking DK had his 40th acknowledged last year, though Shigster was nice enough to give that a shout out in the recent Mario Movie direct.

What a comfy new ST. ☺️

Not the greatest start to the month, what with sore gums from the dentist and work driving me slightly mad. But I have the whole last week of the year off, so at least I have something to look forward to. Should be a good time to dig into any games I get for Christmas.

I'll keep saying this but Nintendo not acknowledging a Metroid anniversary is the most on brand thing they could do.
 
Not that Nintendo actually cares about hardware milestones but if a Switch 2 is not planned for a Spring 2023 release, the quickest way to surpass the DS is a TotK OLED bundle. That and a price cut to earlier SKUs.

Those are all fantastic. I'm curious how you have inspiration for these tunes without there being a game attached. Do you have a game concept in your head to go with it?

people say switch pro has been rumored every year but metroid prime really has

Gonna be totally honest, I was trying to capture another sound and my 1 year old made that little chirp noise so I wound up keeping it and using that. Gonna have to credit her as a voice actor I guess.

Yeah the bug sound was fun, I'm good at making weird and silly sounds like that. Not sure how I am at making scary sounds or growls but I guess we'll see.



No idea what sound an anthropomorphic carrot would make when getting hit or killed...

It's actually similar in that they're both multiple rumors which have been conflated into one

The original "Prime Trilogy" rumor wasn't based on anything really, and the fact that so many jumped on it (especially right before TGA one year) seemed to be a combination of "well it was on Wii U, of course it's coming to Switch", and a big game of telephone

The "Prime Remake" rumor began, I believe, with Emily last year. Someone on Era corroborated with additional information, and then several others since have confirmed they've heard about it too

I do, yeah. I even started one many years ago in GameMaker, but I don't have artistic talents so it was never going to be more than squares moving around haha.

But yeah, there are ideas behind the tracks (hence why the last 2 have "location" names). I picture an action platformer that'd be something like Celeste meets Mega Man Zero. I have ideas for the characters and general plot as well, which I guess I'll include in the description of the music tracks haha.

I've got a few sounds like that, not sure if they work with the animations I have but I'll see what I can do.

I have no artistic talent either, but making a game is a lot more than art. You can use free or placeholder assets for just about anything these days, and just work on the mechanics/story.

That's more or less what I'm doing.

Love this soundtrack. So good. Also makes me sad that their is no eshop music because we always got the fun holiday versions on Wii U and 3DS right around now. My number one issue with the eshop on switch.

Getting the last couple pages of the previous ST obsessed with ketchupposting

Honestly, I think one of my favourite gifts I get yearly is from my grandma who knits me like a dozen wool socks every year, and I swear they are the warmest articles of clothing I have without being overbearingly sweaty and I just genuinely love them. Also did a Kris Kringle gift swap game a couple years back with my friends, and I got this really nice red scarf with a sort of shimmering green trim? Idk, it's soft, it looks stylish and timeless, and if it's one thing I look forward to in the winter time is getting to wear that scarf. It's a scarf that I just have a lot of sentimental attachment to, especially from the friend who (technically) gifted it to me haha.

I do enjoy watching The Santa Clauses for nostalgia's sake, but Klaus made me weep like a baby out of nowhere. I am excited for Violent Night, though!

I can't see there being a "Switch Pro" and I can't see there being a "Switch 2" any time soon.

Pokemon Stars jesus, that was wild. I can't stop laughing on the idea that it was just a third version of Sun Moon and then there was a Pokemon Direct where it just started with Ishihara talking about Switch and then revealing Pokken Tournament DX and after that third version Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, no Switch version mentioned whatsoever. And then a week later, E3 2017 and he casually just said: yeah, we are making Pokemon RPG for the Switch, bye.
