StarTopic Splatoon 3 |ST| The Mammal with the Three Golden Eggs (World's End Splatfest announced)

brinewater is an even more aesthetically pleasing setting than I expected

and flounder heights may be way shorter bit it sure feels tall
I really miss the original vibe of flounder though. Used to feel like late summer but now it's too bright and seems like spring.

I should honestly just purposely throw every goddamned game since Nintendo refuses to give me a single fair match. I'm just going to squidparty and ruin every single fucking game until my glicko resets and they'll stop fucking me at every opportunity.
My dude, I can understand it getting extremely frustrating when you're playing really well, but the team let's you down time and time again. I myself sometimes have this too. However, there is probably someone else on your team who also is not having a good time, because they have been matched above their skill. Matchmaking is quite lacking in that regard, but don't let it get to you. If you just keep trying the same thing over and over it's not gonna magically work after the tenth time right?

May I suggest you change your approach when such things happen? From what I can see you're mostly playing a slayer role right? Maybe try being more supportive for your teammates, don't rush to the frontlines alone, but stay back a bit with your team to defend or push together. Or slightly more extreme, stick to one of them and try to help them. Trying to guide teammates by signaling 'This way' also helps (I sometimes like to spam it a little when my teammates aren't coming after a while)

Or you can simply try and switch your playstyle: slayer not working out? Well, how about going more defensive or supportive? Not only to change your experience, but this might also affect matchmaking. The mode might also make a difference sometimes, there's plenty of choice in this game: turf war anarchy open, anarchy series, salmon run.

Lastly, are you only having fun when you're winning? Or is a cool play or close game also something that makes you happy? Because winning shouldn't be your primary fun factor imo. Try doing some degenerate shit, think outside the box. Some of em I do myself are: Torpedo spamming, running around the long way in Tower Control (not always works, but more fun than simply charging an incoming push head on), enemy base invasion, Zipcaster shenanigans, ink mine tower stalling and I'm sure there're plenty more tricks.

Anyway, if you're up to play sometimes, feel free to dm. (Offer stands for anyone here tbh) I think I can handle myself decently well in a match. And remember that games should be fun first and foremost (imo at least)

PS if this is turf war we're talking about, I have no clue about how to consistently win that. That mode is a mystery to me, so I can understand if back-to-back losing there can be kinda nasty[/SIZE=1]

I'm veering off topic a bit but I've come to see New Horizons's biggest problem as the inability to decorate your island in multiplayer. That is the gameplay and the multiplayer lacks it
To me its biggest problem was the lack of events/unique npc interactions. This makes me all the more hopeful for the next installment though, as they should now have the big decoration part down and can focus on the interactions

I compared the paint of Splattershot, Nova and Pro:

I am so confused about what the Nova is supposed to be. The BigSwig and Snipewriter have immediately obvious niches that haven't been filled, the Nova is competing with half a dozen longer-range shooters, and every single one of them is better.

Yeah i forgot to post my annoyance at how trash Nova is at popping RM.

Edit: on positive note i did enjoy Custom Jr. and i might try Tentatek as it looks fun. These are nowhere near my weapon preferences but theyll do.

So I've been working on an Ability Build for my Range Blaster and this is what I have currently

Last Ditch Effort + 3 Ink Saver (Main)
Respawn Punisher + 3 Run Speed Up
Ink Resistance Up + ????

Should I get Intensify Action? I did have a build earlier with it but I realize I don't jump often enough to use it a lot. And the ability to move fast into safe ink felt more important. I was thinking of getting either Swim Speed Up or something else but I'm not sure.

It seems my fears have been confirmed. If you win an X series, you always get at least +10 points. Top of the leaderboards are gonna be based on how much you play and not on how good you are.

since I'm useless with the snipewriter anyway I took the opportunity to drop my sensitivity dramatically from +3.5 to -2.5

hopefully it helps my wrists

So the contents of the catalog are basically the only new stickers/locker decorations, titles, and banners... and almost all the new gear is returning or recolors... and the other content (like maps and weapons) is at a slower pace than Splatoon 2... and they're not fixing major game design problems.

This isn't looking very promising, is it?

Getting in lobbies where multiple people are using the Tentatek Splattershot is a blast. Just constant dodging and weaving from bombs coming your way from all angles.

Is Overachiever the point where I should stop doing Freelance for Salmon Run? Did some this morning and got eviscerated
I mean, if you have a dedicated friend group to play with, sure? It's totally doable to get to the top rank in salmon run with randoms. The weapon sets just not very good right now.

I guess I'll be the outlier and say I'm enjoying the new update immensely. Photo mode is fun and their meta philosophy in trying to avoid too hard nerfs is better than nerfing everything to the goddamn ground.

...can't believe I'm the positive one. What the hell happened...

Just got 24 "splats" with the Nova but it's 90% assists with the point sensor lol, this weapon is somehow carried by its kit

on paper it seems like a pretty good support weapon

point sensor/killer wail means you can know where the enemy team is at practically any time and it seems to have pretty efficient ink usage + a wild long range making it really easy to stay almost back line and keep a big portion of the map painted

it has absolutely abysmal killing ability tho obviously which i think might make it pretty abysmal for solo queue situations where you need your teammates to respond to the information youre providing them via point sensor and the zone control you offer with the ink youre putting down

It doesnt paint that great and Custom Jr. has a similar tracking playstyle kit as Nova and performs leagues better. Nova has better range but Custom has a better weight class, damage, ink consumption, paint power and kit.

Another great achievement by nintendo.
X is one sided as hell and s+ took a big hit in quality, there's nothing enjoyable right now.
Wish they stopped making their game annoying and instead of all these convoluted ranking just get back to splatoon 1 system.
And it's laggggggy today...

Stats for last season:

Yeah...this should give a lot of perspective on why I complained about not being able to rank down a while back lol. At a certain point, I stopped caring and used whatever weapons I felt like because I knew I couldn't climb out of that deficit.

New update is okay. I'm mostly indifferent to a lot of the new content, and they still haven't addressed some core issues with the game. Flounder Heights and the Tentatek Splattershot are by far the best parts of the update for me. Flounder still feels good to play on even with the changes, and I always wished I played the Wasabi Splattershot in 1 more than I did, so essentially having that with the Tentatek is great.

I would give it a few days to settle. The early period where the base is constantly growing is going to be the weirdest. Just glancing at the top of the leaderboards, it hasn't moved up as much in a day as I'd have expected if what you say is true.

when i say "pretty good" i dont necessarily mean best. it can likely fill certain niche playstyle for people who would prefer to play a longer range support style than the jr

"I don't wanna be the guy who only ever uses Sloshing Machine, I think I'll try using some of these new weapons"

tries new weapons

"Oh god, I'm so shit at this game. Can't do anything like this. I'm going back to Sloshing Machine"
Lolol thats me alot of days. Always slinking back to Sloshing.

...any tips on how to get good with sloshing? I can play N-Zap, Range Blaster, and Reef-Lux (the actual way) but machines just result in me missing constantly.

Imagine my surprised Pikachu face when I, a dualies user, tried to roll with the Splattershot.

It's honestly the inverse for me because I can't aint for shit with most other weapons, but I get good results with Sloshing Machine

The hitbox on its shot is huge, so you don't need to worry too much about super precise aim, two direct hits will kill, but a direct hit and an indirect hit will also kill, so just mash that button. And since the shot moves in an arc, you can safely target people on lower ground, or easily lob it up towards enemies on higher ground

Now that I've gotten some 2.0 playtime, Flounder Heights keeps being as amazing as I remembered from OG Splatoon.

Brinewater is also a lot better than I was expecting from the pre-release buzz everywhere. The two ramps down the bases having an open drop to the center part do change quite a bit how to approach it.

It'd be great if you could buy more than two of the season 2 gears at the start of, you know, season 2
I was really hoping for updated stores with expanded item availability, keeping gear separated by season (or even a way to reroll once per day the items available).

I feel like if you can play Range Blaster, Sloshing should be pretty easy to adapt to. Its similar aiming but much more forgiveness.

Gave the new Splattershot Pro a try, and wtf. I found something that's not Sloshing Machine that I think I like.

Good range + Suction Bomb + Booyah Bomb is a nice combo. This thing's fun to use when it's not shackled to the fuckin Angle Shooter

so as a charger on flounder heights splatzones, where the hell should I be?
This is mostly from memory on what people did in Splatoon 1 so it might be slightly different now:
When defending: the wall guarding the base (it's the place with the water tank)
When attacking: where the enemy team's splat zone is in zones
When neither: where your team's splat zone is

The very thin walls atop the map are also an option I think, but can be slightly tricky because you have so little space

I'm curious about what design problems do you see in the game. I'm not a pro player by any means, but I really think this one has a better design than 2. The only bad thing that's really standing out to me is the matchmaking and connection problems. And about the update, I've played a few matches in the Brinewater map and I enjoyed them a lot.

Okay, the way the Grizzco Splatana works is a bit unintuitive. At first I was just charging it every time like a Stamper, but that's actually a bad use most of the time because it only causes damage on contact. For lessers it's much better to just swing away and do 200 damage with every one.

The way I look at it, there are 2 things:
1) Not enough routes to go/too cramped, the higher you get the more people will exploit these spots
2) There are no themes in the maps (mechanically, visually there are of course) For example, take a look at any Splatoon 1 or 2 map and it's fairly easy for most to devise a theme, in 3 maps feel like just collections of objects

I'm with you on Brine water though, all 4 matches I played on it were fun (although they were all clam blitz, which is its best mode apparently)

Out of curiousity, what's your opinion on Flounder Heights? How do you think it compares to the other maps in the game?

Some of the best maps in Splatoon 2 were the Shifty Stations and I'm tired of pretending it's not true. Obviously there were some bad ones too but it's disappointing that none of the gimmicks they tried in those were iterated on in 3.

I haven't played in Flounder Heights yet. I will post my impressions once I've played a few matches there. Besides, the only S3 map that feels like a collection of objects to me is the underground one. I think that the others are quite thematical: The street one, the desert one, the market one and the junkyard one. Sorry, but I am really bad with map names, even in spanish xd.
