Suggestion:

When using the Wario theme, I demand that animated coins shoot out of the little famicoin counter. It needs to be a trickle at first, but over time, as your coin bank increases, the coins should just start taking over the entire screen like you’re shaking treasure in Wario Land: Shake It!

I’m starting a FamiCoin pyramid scheme. I call it “Golden Land Pyramid, LLC”. I will be messaging a random 10 board members requesting that they like all of my posts. In turn, I will like all of your posts. You can then request that 10 other members to like your posts as long as they like my posts as well. Look forward to this exciting opportunity coming to your DMs later today!

What the

I just read that Kevin Conroy passed away. Being a nineties kid and growing up with Batman the animated series this guts me. That voice in combination with Hamil’s Joker is iconic. Man, that blows. RIP to an absolute legend.

Honest question: is the discourse about nintendo stuff kinda slow? since a month or so it feels slow, but im not shure if its just me or if it is kinda slow.
(Hard to explain slow. a mix of no news, hype not that high about stuff, etc. I know we had bayonetta and now pokemon,
but with both i feel like prior entries would have more hype. or im just the problem myself. and speculation seems to have slowed down generally, as well as fake leaks.)

If im off then i fully accept my ignorance =D
it's a slow news period for the entire industry. things will pickup after the holidays.

I have a sealed copy of paper mario sticker star on my shelf. As someone who has no great love for the paper mario rpg titles, and preferred super mario rpg and the mario and luigi series, and really enjoyed origami king…is it worth my time?

I was just watching the digital foundry Sonic Frontiers video and it got me wondering how people would feel if third party companies started creating unique versions of their games for Switch, sort of 3DS style. So for Sonic Frontiers as an example maybe they scrap the open world altogether and just have a level select with newly created levels just for the Switch that are designed to run at a higher resolution and target 60fps. That way the Switch wouldn't be getting the exact same game but would have a much better running and looking version instead. I get it's unlikely due to the fact that creating a unique version of a game for one platform is asking a lot more now than it was when it was for the 3DS or DS but it's still an interesting thought, at least for me.

Switch-exclusive Sonic by Dimps (and maybe scored by Hideki Naganuma)? I've been asking for that since Frontiers was first shown.

It ain't happening

Sighhhhhh staring at PC Engine Minis on Amazon Japan and asking myself “just how confident am I that PC Engine games are coming to NSO+EP at some point…”

I'm gonna order tacos from my favorite pizza place tonight

It's owned by a Mexican family and Mexican food is the majority of the menu but I think they just have pizza and wings because this area is white as hell

There are those Switch ports like Crash Bandicoot that have different visual styles for performance reasons, and late ports like Nier Automata with heavy Switch optimizations to the extent that they become a 'unique' version, albeit still the full game. There's also ports like No Man's Sky and DOOM that cut out extra game modes or features but still preserve the 'core' of the game.

I don't think entirely unique Switch games ala the bespoke 3DS ports is needed, despite the vocal criticism of third-party port performance these ports are still popular. The gap between the Switch and PS5/XSX is big, but not so big like previous handhelds, developers are able to bring over their modern engines like Unity or Unreal and scale down.

Expectations have changed, people are used to full-fat console experiences on the Switch. I don't want a pared down version of Sonic Frontiers with missing content, I want the whole game. The most demanding Switch ports have established a 720p/30 FPS docked resolution as kind of the 'minimum acceptable' in order to have it on the console, and if I can have the entirety of Witcher 3, then why not x, etc. If a game really can't be brought to Switch, then a native Switch version just won't exist.

Next week Violet, Scarlet, and the Double Pack are going to be #1, #2, and #3 on the eShop respectively, correct?

Just get it. Still bust out the TG16 mini regularly. It’s the best of the mini consoles in my opinion.

reminds me of every Chinese restaurant growing up. All had burgers and fries. I thought this was for kids maybe but now I’m not so sure it wasn’t for the white people.

At every Asian buffer, there's always a random cheese pizza and some chicken nuggets under a heat lamp. It's probably more meant for kids but I'm sure they are also meant for that picky eater that gets dragged along with their friends.

Can confirm our local asian buffet (now defunct thanks to Covid) also had cajun fried chicken, french fries, meatballs, spaghetti, dinner rolls, cornbread, corn fritters, and pizza.

The bottom left corner of my OLED’s “plate” has gotten a little wobbly. The part where the little rubber foot is. It’s not like, falling off or anything, but I was wondering if anyone has any tips for getting it to stop doing that.

Closing in on the holidays is the main reason. We'll probably get something announced at Game Awards.

Now that’s a good idea! It might lead to some resentment for Switch-only gamers, but at some point something’s gotta give. A made-for-Switch game would hopefully offer a much better experience.

Although with new hardware supposedly so close, it’ll probably never happen. And honestly maybe that’s for the best? I donno, I’m torn.

I kind of miss the handheld versions of games. When digital games were becoming a thing, I thought it would be a place for handheld developers to keep making games in that $30 to $40 range but that didn't really happen. Capcom could put out multiple brand new Mega Man games on the GBA and DS. It has made 1 on the current systems. We had Sonic Mania in 2017 but basically the 2D/handheld releases just disappeared.

Feel the same with 2D Zelda.

The GBC version of THPS2 was the first game I got with my game boy color. I was six years old and couldn’t make it past the first level, but I spent a ton of time playing that first level. I even remember using the worm light to play that game at night under the covers.
