Really struggling through Ender Lilies at this point. Just beat the fifth boss (Ulz, the mad knight) and it took me nearly two hours of attempts at it of a total of six hours play so far. I love the exploration and finding the secrets, and the way the map tells you when you’ve found everything though, I’m just starting to dread the boss fights a bit.

I’m invested enough in unpacking what happened that I want to see how the story resolves, and I like the companion of the Umbral Knight (the sword skill) whose constant gentle support is nicely done.

You could have beaten like two or three other bosses before him

I won’t say it’s gonna be a cakewalk from there since pretty much every boss is dangerous as they can take half your life so you can’t quite outgrind them but you just did probably the hardest thing in the game so the rest probably won’t take you as much time to beat

Vectorpark’s 2009 masterpiece Windosill is out today, $10 US with a 20% introductory sale—if you like weird little interactive toys and unconventional adventure-style games, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s short but dense with strange, tactile interactions and surreal Rube Goldberg-esque worlds:

Vectorpark is one of my favorite designers so I’m excited to see he’s still active (sounds like he handled the port himself), and the email he sent out for the release says he’s got a new game in the works, so I hope this new port gets a little bit of notice.

Yeah Ulv is definitely a difficult spike in bosses. but I found out that one to be the hardest of the second part if it helps. Also remember to abuse the ranged attacks, those saved me a lot of time the first time I played it. I don't know if its patched or changed, but the poison cloud one did a lot of damage

Finished Ender Lillies. That last section was such a slog, but I’m glad that I stuck with it. Also I like that it didn’t answer every single question I had about the story, it was suitably vague in places. My main criticisms of it remain the same though- a complete lack of emotional pacing robs scenes of their tragic nature following the previous 10 hours of endless awful ends to life as the kingdom collapsed. And it was hard to see what was going on in places. Still, it’s very elegantly put together. A couple of the boss fights were a bit on the tough side for me, even after playing stacks of Metroidvanias, but from the scenario of ‘messing around in a corrupted tragic fallen kingdom’, I feel like they were aiming at Souls and Hollow Knight fans too.

I remember playing this on PC years ago, it's pretty neat.

Just beat Death's Door (really really good game!) and now I want to complete the post content.

A general question here, to those who 100% the game: is there a specific character or something I should talk to hint me on what to do regarding the post content? I have figured some things out (such as
turning day to night, and directing ghosts to specific spots
) but it feels like I'm missing some cruical hint and just using trial and error.

I honestly don't recall if there was, but most of what I remember was just going back to the areas and seeing what changed, if anything. There's one spot you probably discovered before beating the game with a door you couldn't open, and that should be open now, for instance. If you need a hint (you may have found this already):
it's a spot right before the yeti boss
. The doors that are glowing red mean that you still have things you need to do in those areas. As a heads up, one of them involves potting every single plant seed, which is kind of a pain.

Thanks! I now only have the seeds remaining I think, which seem to be a lot missing, based on the number of doors still being red...

A door still being red could mean you have either missed a seed, missed a pot, or both in a given area.

If you've found the shiny thing artifact that looks like a garden spade (can't recall its name) it glows if you're missing a seed in an area, meanwhile if you go back and explore the gardens area outside the jar mansion, the soup pot head NPC has moved there somewhere (more details: )in the place beyond the puzzle with the respawning jars you have to hit 5 of in a specific order based on a hint from another shiny thing who will tell you where one plant pot you've yet to place a seed in. Only one at a time though.

I grabbed The Last Campfire as it's only $3 right now. Pretty neat so far, kind of feels like playing through a bunch of Breath of the Wild shrines on a smaller scale. I also picked up Eiyuden Chronicle Rising when it was also $3, but I haven't started it yet.

I grabbed The Last Campfire from the current sale, too. And just finished it.

Apart from the annoying female voice, it was a good experience. Game is a looker and performs well, if you don't mind some stutters. I enjoyed enough the exploration and all the puzzles. 7/10 😌

oh I should follow up on this since I've played it—the port is great. really nicely implemented controller support that maintains the tactile feel of the PC version and, most excitingly, HD rumble for every one of the dozens of weird little interactions. plus a handful of features that I think were in the iOS port which unlock after finishing the game, including a couple minor gameplay modifiers and a beautiful concept art & painting gallery.

the game is a collection of interactive toys first and an "adventure game" second, so I'm very delighted with the attention to detail in the HD rumble and the quality of the controller support. it's not gonna set the world on fire or blow anyone's mind at this point but I still think it's worth the small time investment and asking price if you haven't played it and like weird squishy stuff

I wish that those Hall effect Joycons came out already, they were announced months ago and are supposed to releasw this year. At this rate I wonder if I’m better off getting a Hori Split Pad for the dpad but even then no gyro is annoying. At this point the only games I’m playing handheld are turn based games where the occasional drift doesn’t matter much. It used to be fine if I didn’t touch the sticks at all but now it got to the point where sometimes the stick interferes with the dpad

Anyway for the BF sales I got Nier Automata physical, for digital I’m for sure getting N++, Lumines and Danganronpa… I’m thinking about the Contra collection too but I wonder how playable it is without a real dpad. There’s also the Cuphead DLC but it’s a pretty tiny sale, is it worth it enough to get it now regardless? Idk

There might be more on sale during the Holiday one but that’s enough of a haul for me, 2023 will have multiple day 1 purchases of big games anyway
