man street fighter 6 is a pretty ugly. that mixture of realistic but stylized proportions with the graffiti effects doesnt work and just comes across as messy. you can definitely tell its coming to ps4. which does make me wonder if its also gonna come to the succ.

It's really funny how one's tastes can change. I used to love Twilight Princess and enjoy Wind Waker but these days I don't really hold them in very high esteem. On the other hand, I was somewhat critical of OoT (always loved MM) and now it's one of my faves.

Can't wait to detest BotW in like a decade!

I hated Skyward Sword when it launched but the HD remaster made me reevaluate my dislike for it because the dungeons are just too good. I also appreciate the way they handled the overworld from a level design perspective.

Compared to Twilight Princess that considerably dropped on my Zelda list and I don't even know if I would buy it on the Switch again.
For reference I loved that game on the Wii.

And because you mentioned it:

I never played OoT on the N64 so the 3DS version back in 2011 was my first experience with the game. It was my first 3D Zelda since Majoras Mask.

I liked it enough to buy Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword for the Wii bit never thought it was that special.

Nowadays it sits comfortably in my Top 3 Zelda list tied with ALttP. One of my favorite games in general and absolutely timeless.

Street Fighter hasn’t looked good since Third Strike and hasn’t looked amazing since Alpha

Street Fighter 6 looks great to me. I mean, nothing can beat the beautiful sprite work of SF3, but this is the best the series has looked in 3D imo.

mental health update: 3am here and neither my partner and I can get to sleep because I remembered the concept of East Side Mario’s, which is a bizarre schtick Canadian “American Italian” chain restaurant, and they have an item called “Budda Boomers”

and we can’t stop laughing

That seems pretty normal. You’re fine.

Pretty much where I’m at. SF6 actually looks good to me, especially compared to whatever SF5 was trying to do.

Most James Bond movies are now on Prime, so I’ve been watching a couple that I missed. I’m losing it at some of these names.
If you haven't seen the first Austin Powers you really ought to before you watch the Daniel Craig era

Yunno (or Yonah, hehehe.... God, so bad), I wasn't entirely sure as to why I liked Nier Replicant more than Automata. But after playing Replicant's Ending B again, I realised that its set-up is simply more personal to me, and affects me on a more immediate level, I feel. The main cast is closer to me than 2B and co ever have been.
I'll still play through Automata once more to re-evaluate it again, too, but I'd be (positively!) surprised if it overtook Replicant for me in terms of impact and emotional investment.

So, I’m gonna attempt wearing the arm brace this evening and try something on my steam deck. @Brofield, @Imitatio or anyone, which of these five games would be good things to try out? Trying for something small

Halo wars
Five nights at Freddy’s (was gifted this back when I had a laptop years ago)
Amnesia
Lego Star Wars the complete saga
Paper’s please
Sonic all star racing transformed
Of the list you have, I'd say Lego Star Wars nicht be your best bet to start with. Familiar game and concept, controls that are not just intuitive but you already know how to use; I think that might be best while you wear the arm brace

Most James Bond movies are now on Prime, so I’ve been watching a couple that I missed. I’m losing it at some of these names.

“Who are you?”
“My name is Pussy Galore
Reportedly, while shooting the film everyone was convinced that the name wouldn't fly and were incredibly shocked that the censors only asked for the name to not be used in promotional materials.

Also, the original line was "I am Pussy Galore", to which Bond would reply "I am sure you are, but what is your name?". I'm not kidding.

I love both games, I think they're an incredible duo. But I can see your perspective clearly. While I think 2B, 9S and crew are very well done characters, they at times comes across as plot device-y, because Automata operates with plot as focal point. The actual plot of Replicant is much more basic, and I think that gives the main cast more time to breathe. The main cast is also a bit more, for lack of a better word, "likeable", with Weiss being super pretentious in a funny way and Emil being so sweet. The story is more intimate, and thus can feel more personal to some.

I love them both, but Weiss especially. Him making all these snarky comments, especially directed at Kaine, but you can clearly tell he's developing a lot of care for the crew as time goes on.
And Emil's a treasure. You simply have to like him, no matter what.

@Imitatio didn't play anything. One of our vehicles broke down and spent a while trying to get it towed back home. @Raccoon also recommend Paper’s please so once I am able today outside of trying to help fix the truck, I will try to play Lego Star Wars or paper’s please.

@Brofield lego Star Wars sounds nice

@Dragoncaine congrats on the script working good and hope the movie goes great. You’ll have to show it to me when it premieres. I’m gonna send you a little message on something real quick

Haven't watched the video yet but my theory onto why it feels like the Gamecube is remembered more than the PS2 is because most of the biggest IPs on the Gamecube were made under Nintendo and many of those IPs are still being made by Nintendo today. Breath of the Wild is a Zelda game as was Wind Waker 20 years ago and both are made by Nintendo. The console maker and the primary game publisher/developer are the same now as they were on the Gamecube. Playing a Nintendo evokes memories of your childhood and therefore you remember it more.

I got my flu shot and my covid booster yesterday, and today I woke up feeling perfectly fine. I feel ripped off! Where are my symptoms? I'm missing out on the authentic covid vaccine experience! 😤

Splatoon 3 is as Splatoon as ever and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Constant connection drops, repeatedly dumped in rubbish teams, then when I get in a stable run of matches with good players, it's 11am so time to be booted off for the map rotation.

It looks, sounds, and plays great, but Nintendo's online still leaves quite a lot to be desired. I'll have to start the campaign later today to see what that's like.

I am here to sing the praise of Prodeus. Game is great if you like DOOM. Controls great, music is great, guns are satisfying to use. Game is like the original DOOM visually but a little better, but the music of 2016 DOOM and I'd say controls very similar to 2016. I know it’s a little expensive at $24.99 but I find the game very satisfying to play and it will easily fall into my rotation of games I replay. Definitely give it a look if you like DOOM.

Started Chaos;Head last night. I noticed the game used some URLs in normal format so I tried them out to be left hanging. Maybe they officially existed when the game was new new a decade back, but one domain was unregistered and the other was registered but just by someone hoping to resell it. Domains with common extensions are pretty cheap, if I were using some fake ones in a product I expected to sell more than a few dozen copies I'd register them for a few decades or something.

I'd say about three weeks earlier
Two days before Fire Emblem? Probably not, I think if so it'd be the week before.
I shouldn't even say it, but I don't think a January Direct is implausible this year

maybe January 11?
Yeah, this is possible. But I could also see them doing a FE-specific Direct in December or early Jan and then the General in February.

I could buy that. Or even earlier, but that date sounds pretty plausible.
I still think that Nintendo will play it safe and maybe they could do it in like middle February, it depends. Or maybe they go totally crazy with January and do it in like second week, so it would give Fire Emblem a lot of time, also if there is Drake something it could play a big role in that.
