Honestly most excited for a functioning kickstand so I can expend even less effort lazily playing in bed like with my Surface lol.

Other improvements are alright too. Worth the £50 I'll spend upgrading (and resetting the wear and tear) as I sold my V2 Switch to Leeds GAME (which was doing a 50% extra trade in promo) for £260 (£30 more than I paid for it lol).

Though I did fall prey to Nintendo's annoying save file restrictions. I remembered that some games like Pokémon and Splatoon didn't have cloud saves so transferred those to the sysnand of my OG hacked Switch but totally forgot that Animal Crossing has a third save transfer system and so didn't backup my island before wiping my main switch. Ugh. A hundred hour save file gone.

Also, does anyone have any good ideas for games on Switch that moms would like? She wasn't a gamer before this. I'm thinking maybe Poke Snap? Definitely Kirby when that releases.

Big Brain Academy is soon (December?). Don't know if you're from Europe but if so Brain Training is a good bet. Maybe fitness games like Ring Fit or Fitness Boxing?

I was umming and ahhing on this a lot, but I think recently managing to order a PS5 kinda made the decision for me. It's a shame, as I mostly play handheld, but my current V1.0 Switch works fine and will tide me over until whatever Nintendo releases next.

And hey if it breaks at some point I have to buy a new one!
 
I wish I had picked a closer Best Buy for pick up, but my priority at the time was to get in a pre-order no matter what lol.

Oh well, a "short" drive never hurt anyone.

I already bought the Animal Crossing Switch a few months back and I play 100% docked, so I dont "NEED" the OLED model. BUT, I will get it eventually because I "WANT" it.

I never really followed updates to Animal Crossing, but I had a minor internal crisis when I realized I’d lose my town when I got my Switch OLED, but then I realized all was good because you can now transfer islands between systems.

Drove around my area. No luck. Best Buy, Target, nor Walmart carry any OLEDs currently. Must have tight embargoes on supply chains in my area.

I won't be getting it at launch but I plan to get it eventually, once I've settled in with moving, getting a car lease, and what not. It'll definitely be a nice upgrade for me and a good excuse to hand down my current one to one of my little sisters

YES! *__* and that was just that tunnel, the city and astral plane will surely look even better!

Already had Bayo 2 + Xenoblade on the replay backburner for when OLED released, though will definitely be adding Astral Chain to that list!

I'm curious if she might like Story of Seasons or Stardew? Maybe the upcoming release of Disney Magical World 2 might be to her liking if she's into Disney!

The more I think "maybe the Pro has shifted to a successor and isn't gonna make the next year or two" the more I'm like "damn that oled is lookin real good"

But I can't really justify the purchase. It's like $450 here in Canada and... I dunno, my launch switch still works just fine? And while OLED displays are nice, I actually still think the Launch Switch's screen is still a really good looking display. I dunno, the kickstand is way better but is that worth over $500 after tax? Probably not.

Can't wait to get mine, Smyths better come through with my order! I play a lot in handheld, so this is going to be a huge upgrade for me. I just hope they hold off on a 'pro' upgrade for a couple of years at least, I don't fancy explaining to my wife why I need to spend another few hundred quid on another Switch next year! I suppose I could sell the OLED if that happens, but I like to hoard my old stuff...

Yup. Consider the Switch OLED a +1 sale for me. It is inevitable, just not right now because I have a Switch that works perfectly fine. I plan to get the OLED next year when BOTW2 launches and keep the one I currently have as a souvenir.
 
Amazon UK still listing October 13th as the arrival date for my OLED, but their preorder page has October 8th as the date the device is in stock. Hopefully I'll be getting OLED on launch day (and hopefully the delivery only comes in the afternoon when I'm home from work).

Looks like I'll be doing my third Astral Chain playthrough on OLED, too. Looks gorgeous on that screen. Might treat myself to some better quality Bluetooth headphones closer to Christmas to complement the experience.
 
Here in Portugal we still have stock of White and Neon SwOLED in the major stores, its almost not worth it to pre-order anything Nintendo related.

I'm really excited for the OLED, since 2019 that i've been moving more to portable gaming and nowadays it's difficult for me to play on my PS4 and even PC (plus the fact that when i move in with my girlfriend next year to our new house, i'm going to have limited access to the TV). My launch day Switch is in great shape, except for the battery that's lasting half of what it used to last, but that bigger screen and being OLED... it's hard for me, that focus on portable gaming, to not upgrade.

Mine still says 13th, hopefully it arrives launch day but I won't lose sleep over it.
 
As a V1 owner I've been more and more tempted to just bite the bullet on an OLED but I'm spending a lot of money this year (games, new car, new phone, games, new macbook, games, furniture, games etc.) so I'm fine with waiting until next year in case there is a new hardware update.

I'm flying out of the country on the 10th so I was hoping I could take the OLED with me - good opportunity to test portable and tabletop mode and get holiday gaming time in!
 
As excited as I am to own an OLED, I'm more excited to see the look on my sister's face when I gift her my old unit with almost $300 worth of games.

I *think* it might just be amazon covering their asses with a longer estimate, I have a preorder sitting for November that has the same deal, hopefully it's not an actual indication of the delivery date for you guys. If I had to guess its brexit and covid uncertainty?

I didn't think I'd get one, but it's like the bezels get bigger every time I look at my Switch. It's a launch model too, so the battery isn't great. Aaand I mostly play in handheld mode. I have like all the reasons to upgrade there could be.
 
I got a per-order and i'm still flip-flopping between keeping it or sell it (for retail value). I don't play much in handheld, but since i don't have a OLED TV. I could play it more in handheld if the screen looks better than my TV. Also i have a tripped planned to the states next year, so it will also be nice to have a OLED screen for my 9+ hours flight to the US.

Go for it! Those of us with a launch model are the ones with the most to gain from the upgrade, specially if handheld is the prefer way to play! Plus, if it is launch Day 1, the battery is probably already lasting less than when you bought it. So the OLED model boost would be even more noticeable.

Just bite the bullet. I was in the same boat. The screen alone is worth it. I was down initially because I was hoping for a “pro” model. This is worth it though if you play majority handheld. DO IT!

Anyone ever switch shipping address for an Amazon order before?

Reason being, I pre-ordered the OLED on Amazon Canada before leaving on my trip to Dallas, Texas, USA. Now that I'll be staying in Dallas with family until the new year, I want to switch my shipping address to where I'm currently staying. Is that possible?

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Honestly, my Switch still works fine too, just a little fidgety with getting it in the dock, I'm just someone who really likes nicer displays 😅

Oh that's a good idea, plus you could always use the older one for Homebrew or whatever
 
Walmart says mine is getting here on the 10th. Hope they can fix that. I’m replacing my Day 1 model.

Have one pre-ordered from walmart.com. Also have a slight issue in that in the time since I pre-ordered, I moved, and Wal-Mart refused to change the shipping address. Was told I can contact the shipping service they use to get it either held for pick-up or possibly re-routed. Here's hoping.

This is gonna sound silly, but the big thing that's really stopping me from upgrading to OLED is the fact that the "sort by total playtime" function resets with the new console even after a transfer. I want my neatly arranged list of games to stay consistent goddamnit

Oh my gosh, really?? This happened to me after I switched consoles but I thought it was because I didn't do a proper transfer. This is going to actually upset me a tad. Shoot.

Was also worrying about that. Though more because I want to get BotW to a nice rounded 500 hours played (just missing like 5 hours) before the transfer. Because afterwards, it would obviously be kinda hard to play it so much again 😅

Yeah, I really hate the total playtime sort doesn't use the one on their servers, but instead uses local time on the console. Really irritating.

I've given up on caring about that though since I've changed consoles like 3 times now.

This news has also distressed me a little haha. Gonna have to keep some sort of record for myself. This is why they need to bring back Activity Log with its own sava data, dammit.

Has anyone who preordered online via Gamestop receive a "Your order is being processed" email? Like a 2nd email after the one asking you if you wanted to edit your payment method? We still haven't received anything over here and are already kinda worrying 😅
 
I can't wait to pick mine up on saturday.
To see the glowing Metroid Dread previews and the positive Oled impressions, really makes the week that much longer.
