Mario Circuit 3 is one of those tracks that on paper seems like an uninteresting, low effort filler course. When playing it MKWii (and I imagine MK8D) it's an absolutely incredible track since it's short, has tons of opportunities for cutting corners and laying traps, and is generally a fairly exciting race whenever it comes up.
Agreed, while I don’t want to see a bunch of SNES tracks (seems we are getting only one more anyways), I would be a bit sad not to have any classic SNES courses in 8DX, I’m actually glad to have it in the game

Wuk, the music budget here is at least on par with the base game. STOKED. Jazzy flute and clarinet are tastey.

Also the updated ground texture goes a long way in shining up the tracks. If they went just a little bit harder on the baked lighting (one of the standout features of MK8) and upped a texture and model here and there I'd be completely happy. For now, I'm just the regular happy xD .

It’s really strange that Ninja Hideaway is still being advertised as a Tour track on the website. Wonder if that actually was an error, but we’re still getting a “new” track each wave regardless.

Would free up a couple more slots for N64/3DS tracks.

Yeah, Shroom Ridge for example is a top 3 MK8 track, and it doesn't look it initially.

I just can’t imagine only 2 3DS and 0 more N64

Really hope the Waluigi Pinball stage has some anti-gravity. I was excited to see this stage in HD, as it's one of my favourites in the entire series, but anti-gravity would elevate it to a tier of its own. It also makes sense because the karts would become "bouncing pinballs".

I’ve been done with the game for a while. Nothing new would make me jump back in. Definitely just going to wait on whatever and whenever a true successor is released. For those that are jumping in I hope you have a great time with the new content.
Thanks!! I know I certainly will

I don't think it's that deep, they're going by when the track debuted.

Loving the Kalimari and Snowland remix. The others I don't know enough to compare but the Tour ones sound awesome and so does Mushroom Gorge. Not really convinced by the new track's music but we'll see.

So from this pack, the Sundae track and N64 Snowland aren't in Tour (yet) right?

Except that Ninja Hideaway isn’t labeled in the game. We know for sure now that the labeling is intentional on the website, but it still contradicts with the game itself.
Oh yeah...could just be for casuals that don't know anything about Tour but feel they are getting a brand new track.

Maybe this will be fixed once and for all next week in the update.

edit: Also really loving the music for Kalamari Desert, SNES Mario Circuit and GBA Snow Land. Looks like they are going to have one lap where you drive alongside the train track like in Tour, so that's super cool.

If it is fixed, I wonder if the remaining track data will be fixed too. Could also just be scrubbed entirely.

Thankfully we don’t need to wait long to get the answers we want.

It is from tour, I don't see the problem. But for the game itself, they obviously prefer to group all the original themes together instead of quibbling about whether they appeared in one game a year (or 5 days) before another.

Does it need to be said that the people advertising it are not the same people who make it.

I’m sticking with not having a label for Ninja Hideaway is fully intentional. Basically anything that isn’t a real world city won’t have a label regardless if it bothers people who know it first appeared in Tour.

Reminder that Grumble Volcano music is darn near the same as the wii version, so Mushroom Gorge isn't that unprecedented

That does make the most sense, I'm not sure why I didn't even think that during Wave 1 lol.

It doesn't look like it does, I think it was pulled straight from tour with no major modifications.

Mushroom George is my favourite character, glad his track made it in. Mostly just hoping for DK Jungle now tbh, but I'm happy with everything. Mario Kart 8 getting DLC so late is so cool, easily one of my favourite games and it keeps getting better now. I'll have fun with 8 all the way until 9 releases at this point!

Finally!!! With the way the new ice cream track looks, I kind of expect a Kirby cameo. Can't sleep yet though, I have Xenoblade 3 to wait for. Great week ahead, guys!

Very curious as to how Sydney Sprint gets flipped around, considering that we see characters racing both directions on the track. Wonder if the starting line got moved.

And I was only a day off in my prediction. Nailed it.

I got work to do, so expect the updated graphics later, but I added a few threadmarks. Here are my quick thoughts:
  • The "leak" was almost accurate, except we got GBA Snow Land instead of GBA Rainbow Road. Hot take, though? Snow Land's the much better choice for its place in the BCP right now. The flow from the tricky Rainbow Road to the super easy Mushroom Gorge would've been very awkward and I'm glad we have a more fitting course.
  • Sky-High Sundae looks lovely, and I love how it incorporates antigravity. Fitting for the first original course in the BCP (we can discuss if Ninja Hideaway counts another time). Though given that this course will be in Tour, I wonder how they plan on adapting it.
  • The returning courses we knew about beforehand are all solid picks, I don't have any complaints about any of them being back.
  • The new music shown so far is great. I don't get the people saying that the music is a jump over Wave 1, since Wave 1 was also at an extremely high quality? But I like what we got, for the most part. Sky-High Sundae is a great new song, and out of the returning songs, I'm really liking Kalamari Desert, Snow Land, and Mario Circuit 3. Dishonorable mention to Waluigi Pinball, which just reuses DS Wario Stadium instead of getting its own arrangement.

Ngl I wish the "New" tracks were just labeled tour because they clearly aren't on MK8 level, as good as it looks

People with normal brains: shortening “Booster Course Pass” to “BCP”

me with broken brain: “binsane clown posse”

The Ninja Hideaway situation is weird. Is a Tour track, listed in some trailers as Tour, but for example in the europe websites is listed without the Tour icon
DTbd8Pz.png

But in the USA website is listed as Tour
yKkdwqU.png

And in the game, is not listed as Tour.
And now the new Sky High Sundae is the same, but is not on Tour yet (But will be in the next ingame tour as evidenced as the new Mii costume and the secrecy of the new tour theme)

Okay okay!! Hype. Still not sure Kalimari Desert is 1 and 2 combined, as I hoped, but we will see soon enough! First day I totally didn't expect the DLC and it did pop up, lol.

Snow Land is a nice surprise! I hated it because of the shaking screen in Super Circuit, but this version, with all the penguins, looks super solid!
