I'm playing Horizon ZD for the first time and I don't know what I think, sometimes I love it, sometimes I think it's a bit boring. The world feels a bit too samey, so I'm not super excited to explore it. It can be fun at times though, and it's absolutely gorgeous, probably the most beautiful game I've played so far (I don't own a current gen console yet).

Overall, it's making me more excited for BotW2. I loved exploring that world.

Oh, also one of the male characters is unbelievably hot (that assassin whatshisname), I hope he shows up again soon, shirtless this time preferably.

So there's that too.

I was super mixed on it too and never ended up finishing it, but it IS very pretty. And it was really cool (being from Colorado) to see that environment in a video game and how they adapted the area and some locations and such.

I just had an accidental nap during which I had a full-on dream that I was making a "Young Rock" style tv show about my life and I gotta tell yall it was not great

So I finally broke down and bought a six button genesis pad from Nintendo Online Japan.

It's a pretty good controller, and I used it to finish MM3 and The Wily Wars last night, then I started Sonic 2.

I remember now why I don't like Sonic 2. The levels aren't as fun as Sonic 1, the bosses are even worse until the last few. And those special stages can die in a fire.

Check out Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition. No emulator is needed since it's abandonware.

It's so spooky with some headphones cranked up. And you could stare at that fog all day.

Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition

I was really digging it but lost momentum when I had to backtrack for some keys or something.
Good! Then all I have to do is use mods to skip the annoying part.

BTW: are there "Enhanced Editions" for Silent Hills 1 and 3?

Whaaaa if you guys haven’t watched this yet this is one of my top recs of last season so if anyone was waiting for a dub here you are. I’ll probably rewatch it myself

AFAIK there's a PC version of 3 with plenty of community fixes to get it up to snuff

Not so sure about 1, you might just be stuck with ePSXe

For like a week straight .. I've experience a whole lot of nostalgia for something I never took part in - the DS era. Hella weird.

I almost exclusively played PC Games in the 00's so I missed out on everything DS, but lately when I've played Layton and the Lost Future on my 3DS.. I've been thinking to myself.. man I wish I was a part of this when it happened.

I just want to say I hope Nintendo isn't done with the Game & Watch series. I'm currently playing Zelda 1 (for the first time, too) on the Zelda G&W and I can't help but love this device. If they made a Kirby or Metroid one, I'd eat that up.

DS really had some of the best snuggle-up-in-bed type of games. Super comfy.

I don't remember having a particularly hard time against Whitney as a kid.
Never had a problem with her either. But I watched a video on why so many people did, and it kinda makes sense. I have to dig that up.

I was surprised that so many people had trouble with Whitney. I beat her without much of a problem.

Then again, it's been 20 years since I last played G/S/C, so maybe my memory is just fuzzy.

I apologize in advance if this comes off as a rant, and it is not aimed that anybody here.

But man, it bothers me when I see people complain about third party support on Nintendo, then when the games do come they're either like "why is it full price" (as if paying a team of people to port and game and then manufacturing and shipping the cartridges aren't costs that need to be covered) or "I'll get it when it's for sale at a deep discount".

If a company can't make money on their ports, then they will stop doing ports. You can't begrudge a company not porting their games over, then refuse to support them when they do.

I am surprised any time people suggest classic Pokemon games are hard because as a youngling I just leveled my starter and rolled through the games.

Isn't it something that by now there's dozens and dozens of gym leaders but really only one is remembered for being challenging.

IMPORTANT WAH!-PDATE

It is Waluigi's birthday today. Mario Tennis on N64 released this day in 2000, hence Waluigi is now 22 years old.

Praise be on this Waluigi-rific day!

side note I am fried
Having been fried last night myself, I have this thought I wrote down in my phone's notes:

What if the events of Dr. Strange 1 were unchanged but Steven Strange was an auto mechanic instead of hand surgeon???

I'm still not sure what to make of it, but I think it's to imply Benadryl Cabbagepatch would have a slight southern drawl and have a stronger shop accent?

Ahhh, to be that young and able to strike such a magnificent pose. Here's hoping he stays this flexible and healthy for many years to come. After all, we need his fantastic crotch chops.

Interesting little tidbit from Ian Flynn about how Nintendo was managing the Mario series back in 2007, when he pitched his Mario comic to them.

Essentially: they were very very very strict, wanting to keep the Mario RPGs, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, etc all separate from each other. Internally they seem to consider 64, Sunshine and Galaxy as their own separate "brands".

On a more positive note, the Mario movie does seem to imply that they've loosened up a bit since then, what with them including DK, Cranky, Foreman Spike, etc

Many thanks for what you did.

I plan to start on my draft for my ST in google docs tomorrow

My wifi is still down but I am at a place with wifi currently so there’s that

I also started watching the original Star Trek yesterday for the first time before my wifi went down

He said it was his own impression, and not he knows exactly how it works; I can understand how someone would ever think like this, but then you have stuff like Super Mario Kun that covers every game without no restriction, linking them all in a big continuity.

And recently we also had examples of Nintendo referencing other sub-series within the mainline Mario games (like Poochy in Odyssey and so on..)

Surely Animal Crossing: New Horizons would be the biggest hit in Europe since the DS/Wii days?
It is hard to say which is bigger but you are probably right about Animal Crossing being bigger, I’m probably biased in Arceus favor due to being the first time I saw a huge push by Nintendo marketing wise in Spain.

Tbh I feel like the odd one out in terms of Covid. Everyone and their mother around me had it, but me and my family have been spared.

I guess my dislike of large gatherings really starts to pay its dividends.
