Definitely reminds me of the wait between Joker and Hero for Smash. Given that the announcement of Wave 1 came much sooner than the actual release, the wait feels much longer than it actually was given how little information we've had since.

Assuming the announcements for future waves will be much closer to their release dates, the wait shouldn't feel anywhere near as bad.

A biggest reason it sucks now is the lack of E3. I don't mind Nintendo's twitter drops, but it leaves a huge question mark on some of their key releases like the Booster Course. With E3 they pretty much had to reveal when it was coming, but now that announcements are sporadic there's no telling.

Preeeeeetty much, we'll get this wave by the end of the month, and they'll announce wave 3 in a September Direct, likely with the month gap between reveal and release like the first wave

Wave 2 was always going to be the most painful wave to wait for. Eight tracks are just a huge tease (especially if you aren’t wild over every track), we have no expectation of Wave 2’s rollout (announced ahead of time vs shadowdrop), and while we do have datamining info that’s fun to speculate with, the platform breakdown info isn’t definitive yet. I’ve known this and been saying this, but it doesn’t make it any less exhausting or disappointing the longer this drags on :/

The dream feels pretty dead for a release this week, but I guess there’s still a chance we’ll hear about release info tomorrow. I’m really not too confident we’ll see it this month at all at this point given we have Live A Live next week and Xenoblade 3 next, but I guess there’s still a small chance something will come during Live A Live week.

I wouldn't say always. In a year where Nintendo has a direct around E3 time, announcing the next courses seems like a given. We just happen to be on another off year, so a lot of news is just up in the air. Mario Strikers is another game that could painfully use an update, but it's just silence there as well. E3 used to force Nintendo's hand in revealing certain things, but without that expectation who knows anymore.

I was already hungry for more Mario Kart tracks in early June. In the hypothetical timeline where we got release info and track reveals early where the ultimate release date was still the same or even early, I’d still feel the same way. It’s going to be a massive jump from having eight tracks to sixteen and I won’t be quite as anxious waiting for Wave 3 and beyond. When Wave 2 releases we’ll get a fresh round of datamining and have more insight into the ? tracks too which could raise the hype if we are expecting more all new tracks or not beyond the datamined new sweets/candy one. The uncertain datamining hype factor will be gone or at least very diminished after wave 2 releases.

Different strokes I guess. Having a tangible release date at least helps for a lot of people to have something to look forward to without having to guess when it might or might not release. Especially since that would also mean we would know at least some of the tracks to look forward to.

Ah I think the disconnect here is you are saying the wait for this wave could have been better which I 100% agree with vs I’m talking about how the wait for this wave feels vs how the waits for future waves will feel.

Does anyone know if Japan has any holidays next week? If not, then I could see them shadowdropping the wave on Monday, July 18th, which is exactly 4 months after Wave 1’s release. Otherwise, I do think next week we could a trailer and release date (hopefully).

I was hoping for this week as a twitter drop. I am now expecting next week, they really gotta announce and release them!

Yes, July 18th is a national holiday in Japan.

Time for me to hope for the coming week... please Nintendo I would like to at least see Wave 2 soon and please don't release in August because that is such a long wait.

It's this week, I feel pretty certain. It wouldn't make much sense for them to release it in August other than for the sake of being awkward.
July makes sense 6 waves one every 4ish months would be ideal. so march-july-November then Feb-june- october

I can't even hold hope anymore for it being this month. I just lost every single bit of hope. I don't see why July is still the most obvious choice, leaning more towards August by now.

We'll get the trailer! Tomorrow for sure!

Worth noting, this guy was spot on about the Splatoon 3 OLED and Bayonetta 3 release date trailer

Neat

EDIT: He's also making it seem like the courses will be announced Wednesday at 10AM EST. And he's suggesting he's brushie in his bio.

They did not predict the SplatOLED, they predicted a new Switch model. Bayonetta 3 was widely guessed. I would not trust this user.

Let's wait until Wednesday and see. At least we've established it's this week

Man, if Brushie is really returning at the same time as Snitch and Sylux being around... what a month
EDIT: Seems he clarified it's the 20th

I was hesitant about wave 2 of the DLC dropping this month but now that I finished all the 9.9 Classic Modes in Smash Ultimate I've come to realize that it was destined for this week all along

IDK. Looking at the twitter account, this kinda' seems like a case of the ol' "randomly tweet stuff and delete what is wrong" scenario. Just because I see so few tweets from them imo. Buuuuuut, we shall see I guess lol.

Did y’all know on Coconut Mall after you climb the first escalator where you can pull into that shop you have to mushroom boost through (which is weird btw, what’s up with that wood?), you actually don’t have to jump off the cliff? There’s a ledge you can drive around instead and there’s even coins there. I have no idea if it’s useful or not, I always jump off, but it was a fun thing to discover.

Say, you could guarantee 1 course to be in wave 2, which one would you choose?

For me, that'd be Rainbow Road 3ds. I heard many people praise it as one of best rainbow roads. The planets look interesting too. I never played mk7, so I'm curious to see how good it really is.

Koopa Cape is my most wanted track so the earlier it comes the better :)

You are correct

I really hope we get the announcement tomorrow and the tracks are nice. Really could use some enthusiasm over anything, last week's of the semester have been killing me :(

I don't think you'll be disappointed. 😀

If this is true, Turnip Cup seems a bit meh with the exception of Waluigi Pinball. However, the Propeller Cup looks interesting; Sydney Sprint, Wii Mushroom Gorge and GBA Rainbow Road?! That more than makes up for the subpar tracks in Turnip Cup (imo).

They've got the track list right, but I doubt they're in any position to know about the reveal / release timing; likely just saying tomorrow could be the time becuase others are talking about it.

lol the BCP is full of leaks, huh

SNES Mario Circuit isn't a very interesting selection, but the rest of the Turnip Cup sounds solid enough. Waluigi Pinball is an appropriate finisher, and I hope they do a good job of differentiating the remix from that of Wario Stadium.

Propeller Cup already is more interesting with the mystery track. Amusingly, this course line up would make Mushroom Gorge the third course in all of the non-Tour games that it has appeared in. But going from an endgame GBA course to an early game Wii course is pretty jarring in terms of difficulty, and I personally think they should've saved the track for later on in the BCP. I suppose if they made GBA Sky Garden super easy then GBA Rainbow Road should be okay? Also boo, no Koopa Cape yet.
