Now that Nagoshi is gone there is more chances of them being ported, as the previous chances were exaclty 0.
Bandai Namco Studios.Unlike with Persona, you can pretty much point to one person who is no longer at the company for why Yakuza isn't on Switch. The Wii U ports didn't work out, but money ppl run these companies. Maybe it won't be the OG Switch, but any Japanese developer that wants to sell anything in Japan (and isn't paid to do otherwise as part of an exclusivity deal) will put their games on the Super Switch. Heck, they might put them on the OG anyways for a financial shot in the arm.
This is stupidThe reason why it hasn't happened (and I know this is stupid) is because Nintendo begged them to put Yakuza on Wii U back in the day. They went through the trouble of doing it and then it flopped massively, so I think they have doubts about there being an audience for Yakuza on Nintendo platforms.
BN overwhelmingly puts their games on the Switch, just not a few games that are overly discussed/preferred on gaming enthusiast forums. You can basically count on one hand the BN games that aren't on Switch (Ace Combat, Tekken, Tales of Arise, Scarlet Nexus, Soulcalibur, and Dark Souls). When I used to frequent the Media Create threads, I remember Chris posting the chart showing BN was one of the top publishers on Switch.Bandai Namco Studios.
I said Bandai Namco Studios not Bandai Namco and funny enough all the games you said that skip Switch outside of Dark Souls are made by Bandai Namco Studios lolBN overwhelmingly puts their games on the Switch, just not a few games that are overly discussed/preferred on gaming enthusiast forums. Yeah, I know what you meant. My point was just that on the whole, BN is supporting the Switch with a lot of games even if a few of their studios are not. Bigger picture, there's so little softwares being sold on PS5/PS4/XS that these companies are adjusting (and I think that'll include games like Yakuza).I said Bandai Namco Studios not Bandai Namco and funny enough all the games you said that skip Switch outside of Dark Souls are made by Bandai Namco Studios lol
Ah the classic with 3rd parties on Nintendo systems:The reason why it hasn't happened (and I know this is stupid) is because Nintendo begged them to put Yakuza on Wii U back in the day. They went through the trouble of doing it and then it flopped massively, so I think they have doubts about there being an audience for Yakuza on Nintendo platforms.
I don’t think there’s the same sort of intense burning “holy shit how and why has this not happened already” desire for Yakuza on Switch that there was for Persona.I wish Sega would do surveys like Atlus. That way they could see the desire for the series on Switch.
Yea that’s why I said “desire” and not “ravenous cravings” which was the case for Persona. Either way, if Sega wants to grow the franchise, the sooner the better.I don’t think there’s the same sort of intense burning “holy shit how and why has this not happened already” desire for Yakuza on Switch that there was for Persona.
Plus Persona’s genre, aesthetic, and style was a literal perfect overlap with the Switch audience, which only made the demands grow louder. Yakuza I feel is more of an, “if it comes to Switch, that’ll be great” rather than an “I need this on Switch right now goddammit”
Imagine making decisions on where your audience is based on a flopped hardware with a very limited userbase. The reason why it hasn't happened (and I know this is stupid) is because Nintendo begged them to put Yakuza on Wii U back in the day. They went through the trouble of doing it and then it flopped massively, so I think they have doubts about there being an audience for Yakuza on Nintendo platforms.
