Nier Automata was a port that the developer itself said it was possible but people doubted it would be lol
I didn't think it would ever come to be fair but I never thought it was due to not being possible just that Square wouldn't bother
Of course. I recognize there can be other reasons for a port not appearing including publisher issues, developer budgets, exclusivity deals, etc. I'm speaking in a technical context, the way some folks talk about the Switch you'd think it was a Raspberry Pi 4.

That’s all I was trying to say. I agree with your post. It’s seems from the west we just get thrown filler games and we are supposed to be happy about it. Japanese devs are killing it on the switch right now.
Since i personally have little interest in most western games, im fine. I get that the switch is still the most mainstream mass apeal platform for portable gaming thats not mobile.
The Windows Based ones (Or the Steam Deck) are the closest, but those are more expensive, and not available through the usual channels (Target, Wallmarkt, Amazon,...).
So it can be frustrating, if you want a portable gaming experience with western games.

I do wish Switch would get some more bigger western support, rumoured stuff like Batman collection and Borderlands 3 are still a now show. Wish Microsoft had put more of their stuff onto Switch like was rumoured a few years back but I think that ship has sailed now.

RE: July, I doubt highly we get another mixed Direct. I could see a small Mario Strikers one next month detailing the roadmap of content. August we’ll get a Splatoon 3 Direct and an Indie World, September we will get a general that will show off first half of 2023 stuff and maybe Metroid Prime if that’s really thing.

Wait when is investors meeting?
About 8 hours from now? (June 29 at 10 AM Japan time). I wouldn’t get my hopes up for any news though. I bet we’ll find out more about their plans, be it through official communications or leaks, within the next weeks as Dark Cloud said.

I love how he starts nearly shouting over it
I just want a Direct where each game shown is louder than the last, and eventually, you've just got this absolutely furious narrator screaming "JUMP INTO THE WORLD OF MARIO MEETS MINIONS THIS FALL!!!!! 😡 🤬", as loud and angry as he possibly can

Oh shit, what’s normally said at this one I forget.

Do we get sales updates?

I call dibs on the "was the mini partner showcase better then the main first party direct" thread

Remember how in Geoff's show we got like a million space horror games?

Today was the same with farm simulators.

And people ask why Nintendo stuff doesn't appear in Geoff's shows. They go for completely different vibes.

See RTX on the water
More than darkness in the depths
See him surface in every shadow
On the wind I feel his breath of the Wild

Goldeneye I found his leakness
Goldeneye when do you release
Goldeneye no time for sweetness
But a bitter kiss will bring him to his knees

Poor Alec won't have his strawberries anytime soon...

AFAIK no, they don’t give sales updates. This is more about the global direction of the company. It’s where we learn about changes in executives or their roles, for example. Shareholders sometimes ask silly questions regarding subjects unrelated to the business (like the quality of the food at the cafeteria!).

Quality presentation. I get why they did the Partner thing again with Nier and Persona finally appearing and carrying the weight. Many of the ports looked good as well, seems like more port houses have discovered TAA =P .

I got Monkey Island, Portal and No Man's Sky (and maybe Pacman? Not sure what that was about but it looked interesting). Nier and Persona are probably too anime for me, but their reputation is so stellar that I might give them a try anyway.

Hot take: I'm kinda amazed at how much appetite there is for modern anime-styled games - those often come across as overly artificial to me, and often in the exact same ways: overdone VO, archetypical characters, similar colour palettes, super giant monsters, teenage grade melodrama...

Honestly, I'm considering getting an XBox. Switch is super convenient and Nintendo's first party devs can inspire me like no others, but it's tech has become long in the tooth and so much of the high profile library isn't for me. And with Switch 4K and Zelda coming God knows when I don't feel like waiting.
Maybe just wait one month, see if the rumours pan out... 👀

They probably got the Metroid Prime Remaster treehouse recorded. They’ll like “this is one of the greatest games ever. It’s highly acclaimed and looked at what Retro Studio has managed to do”

I hope they get an employee from Retro there…though it’ll probably be be Tanabe only lol
Didn't they get someone from Next Level Games in for the Luigi's Mansion 3 treehouse? I wouldn't be surprised if someone from Retro showed up if they do a treehouse for Metroid Prime Remaster

Yep they got Bryce Holiday (the director of LM3)

Real question does anyone from their studios ever do the talking? The fact nintendo actually namedrops retro's name means they re already ahead of all other subsidiaries lol

My theory: They really, really don't want to show BOTW2 again just yet for whatever reason (probably just want to save the big rereveal for closer to launch) and they know an E3 time general direct would for sure carry the expectation that it would be there. Same with anything past this holiday season and we probably know most of that already besides Prime HD. So they split things into two direct minis, one that we just got and one that will be upcoming and focused on first party, as a way of managing expectations. People would be a lot less likely to expect megaton announcements at a mini.

To show it on switch pro

and this third party direct was a purposeful sabotage to not show sonic frontiers running on a pro because deep down Miyamoto wants Sonic to fail

It's a remake of the ps1 exclusive classic, "Pac Man World"

I'd be angry too if I had to present that.

Sony already lost the JP market with the DS the JP userbase that PS has comes from the West and they are not losing it due to a more powerful Nintendo console, most big 3rd party publishers will still have PS5 as their main console for multiplatform releases while Switch 2 will be for mid-low tier output.
most big third party publishers... EA and Ubisoft?
Square? Embracer games?

To much of that market got bought by Microsoft over the last years to ignore that.
Its not as if those wont develop for sony primary, but microsoft did a great job in cornering the western market and kind of cutting off sony in a sense (game pass... to...)

Sony definitely has still a Strong AAA production pipeline for themselves.
And im not shure if they lost the Japanese Market to the DS. shure, the DS was a portable platform, but for big home console experiences, it was sony. now, when the gap gets closer and closer (if the switch 2 is at least in between base ps4 and ps4 pro), i feel like to many japanese devs will try to get their games to also run on switch Advance on release, when sony does not pay the bill like probably with FF7R

Looking forward to the new speculation thread. We really can't do without a thread where we talk about the big guns Nintendo needs to show off this year like the Nintendo Switch Sports update and some other stuff I can't remember right now.

Nintendo First Party Direct: June 16 2022
Xenoblade 3 Direct: June 22 2022
Partner Showcase Direct: June 28 2022
Mario + Rabbids Direct: June 29 2022

Would have made me a lot more receptive to a Partner Showcase and not as grouchy about the current state of news.

Yeah honestly the steamdeck is becoming appealing to me. The sad part is I’m not asking for much most gamers aren’t. I can patiently wait for something that appeals to me. I have $150 eshop credit that isn’t going anywhere so. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Im starting to think we will not getting any General Direct until September. Metroid Prime Remastered will be a Twitter announcement and the delayed of Bayonetta 3 will happened in September Direct
